We had our interview last week in MTL - there were only 5 or so of us family-related (not all were marriage based, some relatives) immigration interviews schedules from what I could tell. I think there may have been a few K-1s as well. However, they don't schedule very many of them and I don't think they do them every day of the month (maybe only a few days a month) considering the posts on here. Seems strange to me.. Hope you all hear soon!

FireRay and Bwoo - I'm from Detroit and my Husband lives in Windsor. I have crossed 1-2 times/week for the past 8 years. I HIGHLY recommend taking the Tunnel. Everytime I've crossed the bridge (which is probably more than 100 times in my life), the Border Guards are on a major power trip and give you an extra difficult time for no reason. The agents at the Tunnel are much more friendly and laid back. I would go the Tunnel route for sure!!
CanAmBride - Great info! Thanks so much. We'll take the tunnel for sure. I'll try to post a review of the interview (this coming Tuesday!) and POE (Detroit - first week of August) when I get a chance. We'll be at the POE for awhile too.. Need to import a car and do the standard immigration paperwork there.

Congrats!! I believe they have a phone number but doubt you'd have any chance of getting through. Email is probably the better way to contact the consulate. It can take up to 2 weeks so I think your best bet is to watch the tracking number on your package.

Well, she passed her medical today and will get the packet on friday from them and head over to Montreal. I am still nervous about the whole interview thing, but I feel pretty good about it
Yeah, its ashame that its so expensive because of the interview part. But, I dont mind having to pay the money, so long as she gets here.
I've actually never crossed the border there in Detroit (usually do through Buffalo when I fly there) so I don't know if bridge or tunnel.. My wife has crossed there tons of times since she has friends in Detroit so I'm relying on her with this one.
Yes, I don't mind the expenses either, she is more than worth it!! Just complaining
about extra trip to Montreal when going to Toronto would be an easier day trip only (if the embassy there did the immigration interviews, of course). However, I've never been to Montreal and so it will be interesting seeing a new place and we're making it a two night trip so we'll get a chance to look around some. -
Yeah, we are ready. As ready as we will ever be. I am just really ready to be done with this whole thing though lol, as I am sure everyone is.
I am expecting to be approved as well, heck, our three cases flew through the whole process. Neither of us had any issues through the process. I think if we were to have some issues in the interview process we would have not have moved along as fast as we did, and without any problems. Atleast thats my thinking of it. Yay for hopefully thinking!
We are expecting our POE between August 17-19th.
As for those who are waiting, Good luck. Its slow and long...and MTL seems to make it longer. But as Zenaxe said, stay positive
Hey guys! Almost there - less than week left! Yay! Hard to believe, it seemed like it was a LONG time ago since we started started the process but also went by fairly fast as well. That is the strange part about time..and time while in the immigration process goes even stranger when you are away from your loved one. Waiting for the interview to be scheduled and to actually come was the longest part for us.
I've checked over the required documents several times. Probably will again before I leave to go up there with my wife. Going to get the xpresspost envelope in Montreal the day before. Still sorting out paperwork for importing the car.. do you all know which "codes" to check on the forms? The car is compliant and I'm waiting on a letter from Toyota. For the EPA 3520-1 Form - I'm thinking Code B, EE, or M? For the USDOT Form HS 799 - I'm thinking Code 2B? Does anyone know which codes are appropriate?
The interview seems like the easy part now (like FireRay said - if we've made it this far without hiccups..they must be at least considering approving us
) Still a little nervous but mostly about remembering to bring all the information since we did EP. The interesting thing is without the interview the process would be up to half as long and half as expensive (travel to, hotel, food, etc in Montreal) all for a 15-30 minute interview. 
Gotta do what you gotta do though.We're expecting a POE around August 2-3rd if everything goes well in Montreal - as soon as we receive the visa packet in the mail we're planning on taking off. Looks like we'll be the first across so I'll try to let you all know how it goes. I think we're going to come across in Detroit on the way to Denver.

One of the factors that determines U-Haul rates is how short the destination area is on equipment. If you are moving to an area that is currently short on the equipment you are renting then they discount the price to motivate you to rent with them.
Another thing to know, if you have State Farm Auto Insurance they do cover rental equipment you drive (including U-Haul moving trucks) so you can pass on the insurance (they call it Damage Waiver I believe).
Good to know - I'm not sure if I'm in an area that is short on equipment but I will watch the quotes over the next few days, then I'll have to lock in one something. I have Farmers Insurance - not sure what their coverage is for rental trucks, will have to call.

We did the ABF u-pack and it cost us about 2 grand from Toronto, Ontario area to Tampa, Fl and we flew down, didn't bring a vehicle. I guess it depends on how much stuff you really need to bring. I managed to get rid of alot of stuff before we left but with 3 kids there is only so much stuff you can get rid of.
Thanks for the reply! I did a quote at ABF U-pack from Hamilton, Ontario to Denver, FL and it's at $2,400! So even with gas, etc. Uhaul would be less.

Good information here.. However, I have another question - does anyone know if Penske and/or Uhaul will allow you to rent the truck in the U.S., drive into Canada to pack it up, and then drive back to the U.S.? I was told you could but was wondering if anyone here as done it. Budget trucks do not allow you to cross the border (according to their website). I think it has to do with the insurance but it would be nice to know if anyone else has been able to do this.
Approx. $1,500 to rent a 17' Uhaul from Buffalo, NY to Denver, CO but ~$2,000 to rent in Ontario, right across the border.. (includes insurance). So I'm trying to save 25% by renting in NY instead of Ontario.

The days really have gone by quickly. I can't believe our interview is Wednesday! We did much the same as you zenaxe, we sold our home too, so that was a process and making the new one home has also been a process. Our situation is different than most folks here in that I see my husband everyday because we live just across the border from one another. So I have been making our home "our home", even though I technically don't live there yet!!

Time to get medical scheduled and originals ready for interview.Looks like July 13th and the 26th and 27th are the IR-1/CR-1 interview days. 90 to 100 days seems to be the magic number lately. Still so long compared to other consulates..

We got our interview date just a few minutes ago!!
It's scheduled for July 27th. Two months exactly from today. Still a long way off, in face 97 days from case complete(!) But at least we know and can start planning.Hope now that they started, maybe people will start getting them in floods! Good luck all who have case complete!!

No, nothing. I called yesterday, no interview. Believe me, I will be posting as soon as possible when I get the interview date.
Nothing here either.. Getting a bit frustrated but coming to the realization it probably won't be until June now until we late April completions get an interview date..

Always start the subject line with your case # (I too followed that with the document name, i.e. DS230) and in the body of the email list the petitioner and beneficiaries names, email addr's, and DOB's.
I did the same thing, basically you need to include all the same information as you would if you called the NVC and spoke to an operator. Case number, names, email addresses, and DOBs for both petitioner and beneficiary.

Congrats on the interview date! There are a bunch of us who finished up at NVC in April so this gives us hope. Maybe even for a late June/early July interview.

You guys aren't far behind me and I got my interview date today!!! June 23rd! My case was complete at NVC on April 9th...sooo from case complete to interview 74 days...not as bad as it was.
