  1. Ok, do not send clothes. It will be subject to customs and a cleaning fee that will be chatrged to your fed ex account. The documents are not a problem. My package will be in Anna's hands the end of the week. I will have to call Julia in Kiev to confirm. The time difference is a a mother because they do not update until our 11am and they are closed by then in Kiev. So, that leads to trace here in USA at fed ex not opening to 8am and getting anyone to move away from script here in USA is a miriacle. Today was a holiday there in Ukraine and nothing was happening and offfice was closed there. So in am i will call and follow up again.

  2. Well, I have made contact with Kiev and they tell me i have to pay a "cleaning fee" which is 46 dollars. I had to set up a fed ex account and they told me they will inform me of the status by 12pm eastern today. They have contacted Kiev for update for the web. Amazing, simply amazing.

  4. Yes, Anna's interview is on July 14th. She will then travel back to Kirovograd and fly here on July 31st. Her flight leaves Kiev at 1120 ans comes into New Your at 230pm. Her connecting flights leaves for Atlanta at 720pm. I had saw the other that left left JFK at 420 pm but really did not feel great about it and that was my reason for posting. Thanks for all the Information.

Gary, we handle the cat issue. Here is what happen with that. Anna took the cat to local vet there and total cost for shots was 45 dollars. Base from the information from Kiev Vet at airport given to Anna when she call to them she must go back to local vet there in Kirovograd and get certificate and translation and come to airport with in five days of traveling to USA.

That will not be a problem working from the advice of you and others we elected to have her travel back to Kirovograd and get her visa and she would have to do that anyway to meet the requirement for the cat.

Of course we are aware of the "special fee" at Kiev when boarding the plane in the amount of 100 dollars when your paper work is not in order.

Police report in Kirovograd took three days to get with paying the extra 10 dollar fee for faster service.

Spoke to Anna this morning and exchange rate there was 7.93.

Thanks again for all the info.

  5. Congrats doc! good.gif Are you flying out for the interview or before?

We're in a holding pattern, but after sending them packet 3 via email once, re-sizing the scanned images and sending again, then thinking we'd FAX it for good measure, we got a, well, semi automatic response. Kind of.

Meaning it should have been an auto-response immediately letting us know they received it, but we got a form letter saying it's been received and attached to our packet. So, 6 days for an auto-response. Amusingly, it was as a response to the second time we submitted, but hey, we'll take it. blush.gif

Next stop, interview date and me finally being able to jump on a plane again.

I swear, the guv'mint part of this is best described as: "Waiting on someone you don't know, to do something you're not sure what, so they can finally tell you something, sometime. Then repeat."

The fun of juggling flight dates daily has now set in. It feels like a bad juggling act, with airfare rates not being great at the moment, but wanting to be in the air within 2 weeks of knowing the interview date. If there were such a thing as trip insurance covering random acts of the government, I would already have both tickets booked. As it is, it's a strange predicament. Right now, we're stuck waiting on the interview date so I can get my butt over there. Once we have the Visa, we're going to want to come home as soon as possible, but with non-refundable tickets, and no such thing as multiple entry (only double) Visas for Belarus, the Polish Embassy seeming to on occasion be slow and difficult in issuing Visas for Belorussians, I have a feeling I'll be buying both of our tickets soon, allow some padding post interview just in case, and say a prayer to the K1 deities..or something.

No, I wish i was going to interview, I am not. I have too much going on here. I have to have a home ready to move into for her and things. We speak everyday and so we both know what to expect. I am very strong in the fact that our file is good. Just up to her now. I have carried the ball this far, time for her to run with it a while.

    Doc

Poach, tried calling you last night, did you call warsaw?

  6. Gary,

I agree with you. One thing for sur ethe computer is a great way now for you to speak with her but also her to speak with family there. Skype is a Super in this. Of course, with me and Anna, i wanted her to know she would have a life here. Of course she will count on me for everuthing but she has been doing that since i left the Ukraine in January. One muxt be aware of the mis understanding that can arise from so far away.

I have tried at every turn to place myself in Anna's shoes and what it must be like to walk away from the life in kirovograd and come here. I always try to think from that point of view.

Anna understands she will have a life here and go after her Master degree here and have goals. On the other side of things life is hard in Ukraine and the economy is even harder and finding a job is hard that is steady to support a certain life style.

Sure, not all Ukrainians look to come to USA and i met many that could care less about ever coming here. So, i hope things go well for you Land Lord!

    Best of luck.

  7. The Damn Cat Tom again!!!!! Anna will travel to Kiev on Sunday and have her Medical on July 12. She has her interview on July 14. Then she will head back to Kirovograd and wait for the visa to come. She would have been there a week in Kiev with cat if they pushed her Visa into a monday like you. For sure now safer for Anna to head back home ir is only a hour and half ride so really not that bad. Just waiting to see how long it takes her to get visa.

  8. -- Move this to RUB forum to begin with --

    No, David, they don't.

They give you a slip of paper when you pay for delivery. It has a tracking number... but I tried calling the number on that piece of paper and it's not a working number.

Also there is no way to track it online.

So you just basically have to sit and wait and guess whether it's going to arrive today or a week from now.

However, usually, the delivery of the visa is pretty fast.

So i guess you pick it up in Kiev at fed ex correct?

  9. lol, yes it makes you that way. I have done the same things as you. Pay subbs, chat logs, invoice for ring, phone bills, two years tax returns, one year bank transscripts from three accounts. Insurance policies, Lease agreement with her name on with mine. a bit pver kill i know. Shipping it ro her via DHL in the morning. Call for interview in the morning as well after i purchase my 12 dollar pin. Ready to go. Anna order police report today. Only need Medical now and papers for cat to get onto to plane.
