  1. I have been on the queue for Oath ceremony since 05/07, status on the uscis website hasn;t changed. I'm afraid I won't get scheduled for the upcoming June 19 ceremony in Norfolk, Va. My IO, told me they usually give at least a 2 week notice. What do you know about this? Did anyone get the oath letter less that 2 weeks before the ceremony?

  2. Hello everyone,

Thank you Calypso for the good wishes for my interview.

I am happy to say that it went very well, my interviewing officer was a very nice young lady (very young...literally), I first got sworn in, and then she briefly explained the process and said that I would be tested first to get that out of the way. I was asked six questions and she stopped after I got them all correct, she said that was all I needed to pass. Then, I was asked to read the sentence "When do we celebrate Columbus day" (or something to that effect), after I read it she said that is was good and then she asked me to write "We celebrate Columbus day in October". She then said the testing part was over and that I passed and that we would review my application next. She asked my personal information first (Name, SSN, address, spouse's name, etc.), she asked if my husband and I had separated at all for any period of time during the past 3 years (it being a marriage based application), she asked if worked at the same job, also asked about any trips abroad, then she proceeded with all the NO and YES questions on the application. After reviewing all the application she said that she didn't see anything else she needed, and that she would be recommending my application for approval and if something else were to be needed I would be receiving a letter requesting it and I could bring it to the oath ceremony. She said not to worry if I didn't receive an oath letter right away, that it sometimes takes 1-2 months for it to be scheduled but that they at least give a 2 weeks notice. She also mentioned that at the oath ceremony I would be given a small form to fill out asking about changes that have occurred from the time of the interview to the time of oath only.

I'm glad that's behind and there's only one more step before the finish line.

Congratulations to all of you that had a successful interview and best wishes to the rest, and let's paint this timeline red!

  3. Hi Stevieg2123,

In regards to your question, I filed under the 3 year exception 85 days or so prior to my 3 year approval on 04/29. I had my Biometrics appointment 02/20, and so far no updates. It might have something to do with that, or it might not, it is still nerve wracking nonetheless.

Good luck to all on your upcoming interviews.

  5. For all Vermont Center February Filers...

I didn't include my timeline before but here are some of the facts:

    NOA 2/21

    Letter informing decision(approved) dated : 11/01

Text message and email stating that they ordered production of the card: 11/13

I had not received any electronic updates prior to this text and email received today, the case had not been updated on the uscis website either, though I knew removal of restrictions on GC had been approved on 11/01.

Hang in there and good luck everyone.

  6. Does your wife have a social security number? but not the actual card? if she already has a #, it shouldn't be a problem to change it to her married name. However if she doesn't have a number assigned to her yet, you have to apply for AOS and you should be able to get a number until after you get an EA.

I tell you the above, because that's my case. I entered the country on a BCC Visa b1-b2, married last December, applied for AOS and now I'm waiting to get a work permit and be able to go to the SS office and request a number. I know that K-1 applicants are assigned a number when they come to the US but that wasn't my case and for what you said it isn't your wife's either. Good luck. I'm subscribing to your question and see what other people have to tell you.
