  1. Hi,

Let me tell you how it went in my case. I entered US through Memphis POE. I had to stand in line with all the other non-citizens but when I got to the immigration desk and I explained the situation, the clerk took my picture and my fingerprints (for some reason he only asked me for only two fingerprints - thumb and index) called someone else and I was sent to Office 1 which was a room somewhere inside. I handed the envelope to the Immigration Officer that came to escort me to Office 1 and then I had to wait there for them to complete the formalities. I couldn't see what they were doing as they went into another office. 10 minutes later the Immigration Officer came with a form that I needed to fill in and Form I-94 that he filled in and then stapled to my passport (it;s a little piece of paper with a stamp). I-94 is extremely important as it will be necessary when you will file for AOS. So, make sure you don;t lose it. :-) (There were cases when people took it off from the passport thinking they won't need it anymore). After he handed me the passport I was free to go. I think the whole process lasted some 15 minutes. Piece of cake. :-)

    Good luck!

That doesn't seem too bad. I've read mixed reviews. Some people are through in 20 mins others 3 hours haha

  2. sorry to butt in but i have a question that i can't seem to figure out myself.

is it better to have a return ticket or a one-way ticket?

as for you danniella, a few POE reviews might help: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poerevi...C&dfilter=0

I purchased a one way ticket as it was almost half the price of a round trip.

It's not like you are trapped in the country i mean if anything happened you can just buy a ticket back so there shouldn't be any problem with a one way ticket.

Thanks for the review link =)

Both good and bad reviews haha.

I actually really dislike Dulles airport it was just the cheapest and most convenient.

  3. Are you entering the USA with a Fiancee visa in hand?

If so you will have a manila envelope in your posession not to be opened by you but you will hand this to the customs official

You should be processed just like everyone else...

Is this what you are asking about???

    I do have a visa.

I was just wondering if there is anywhere different i would be sent or do i just queue with everyone else.

  4. I recently attended my interview in Dublin, Ireland and all went well but i needed to mail them a stamped addressed envelope as the one i brought ended up being too small

I mailed it back but forgot to write down my case number and i am half afraid that because of this there might be a problem.

There is a phone number which i called but it is just an info service, i was unable to talk to anyone.

The email address i was given failed to deliver my email and now i have no idea of how to get in contact.

Should i just write a letter?

Or should i wait and hope that they did receive my envelope and my visa is on it's way?

I booked a flight for March 11 and even though that's a month away i am still a little concerned i might not get my visa in time.

  5. I am applying in Dublin, Ireland so some of this info may be embassy specific, i'm not sure.

Firstly, the medical doctor told me to take the xray in my suitcase, the receptionist insisted i bring it to the interview.. which is correct?

I would assume i just take it in my suitcase.

Should i make photocopies of everything i bring with me?

Some people seem to need an envelope with stamps affixed to it so the visa can be posted to them and others collect the visa on the day of the interview. I wasn't told i needed an envelope so is it safe to assume if i am approved i will just need to collect the visa later that day? Or should i bring the envelope with me just in case?

On the DS-156 it asks for Place of Issuance of passport and Issuing Country.

I am a British citizen and have a British passport but i am living in Ireland and had to apply to the British embassy in Dublin to get it.

I'm just a little confused about what exactly i need to write. Do i type Dublin as being the Place of Issuance and UK as Issuing Country? Or UK for both? I don't want to mess up the form =)

It also asks for a National Identification Number. Do i leave that blank as i have no idea what that is.

Should i also write 'none' for any fields that are not applicable or leave them blank? I know some people can be particularly fussy about this.

There is a question which asks Has Anyone Filed a Petition on Your Behalf? Obviously my fiance did so do i check yes? I looked at some other sites and they said to check no.

Do i need to affix a photo to the form or will they do this themselves?

Apologies for so many questions =)

  6. We received notice of I-129F approval on October 7th, 2009. I have been scheduled an interview for Feb 8th, 2010. Technically that is 1 day over the 4 months validity period.

Will i still be alright as far as being able to receive a K-1 visa? I won't get to the interview and then be told that oh actually, your I-129F has expired, you need to re-apply.

I assume they are aware of the validity period and would not schedule an interview knowing that it will have expired?

I actually only discovered today that there is a 4 month validity on it. I had absolutely no idea before, i don't remember being warned about it. Starting to worry a little.
