  1. Hey everyone.

I finally got my Questionaire and faxed them off using Hello Fax, however, they also sent me the EI Report for two weeks, but they don't provide a mailing address where to send them back too. Does anyone know where I send them?

  2. Mostly about when you quit, when you moved to US. Which day you were able and willing to work. Fairly simple stuff to complete your application.

    Good morning.

Thank you for all your help. I just had another question. Do you think there will be an issue with me getting EI if my wife and I were living in Canada while doing all this paperwork? She did however, get transferred on June 2nd

    .

  3. Good afternoon everyone.

Just a quick update. My wife and I had a succesful move back to Chicago and just came back from New Orleans. We are in the midst of unpacking and seeing friends and family.

What I am wanting to know is how long will it take for me to get my Green Card and SSN - I requested for it when I did my original paperwork?

We crossed the border on July 17th.

    Thanks,

  4. fairly simply.

fill out the online application http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/ei/application/employmentinsurance.shtml

make sure her work ROE says quit due to marriage relocation (mine just said quit but the EI people called my work and asked why I quit and they were told the reason was because of moving due to spouse and didnt have any issues)

once you fill it out someone from EI will call you and do a questionnaire and then you will have to wait until everything is processed. you will always call the international EI number to fill out the biweekly reports, i think its posted in this thread somewhere.

there is a two week waiting period for EI in which you wont get any money.

  5. Hey Trenz,

I am thinking that the quick turn around time might be due to them clearing up their backlog, me on a CR-1, and/or having a Nexus card, as they confirmed the latter with me.

Thanks for letting me know! That was an awfully quick turn around time for you!

  6. Congrats! Happy to hear you've made it to the finish line :)

Just out of curiosity, did this happen only today? Were you in another status yesterday/today?

    Hey Trenz,

Considering it was Canada Day and July 4th I didn't check my status too often. I only checked twice; when I got home after my interview - June 30th and yesterday. On June 30th - it says ISSUED - it gave the disclaimer about AP and then I checked on July 4th - it says ISSUED - youl should receive your passport in 5 working days. Both times it gives the date of June 30th.

  7. Good morning everyone.

My wife and I had the similar situation as you both are going through. My wife is the USC (Pettioner) and was living with me here in Canada for the past few years and she stayed up here as long as she possibly could, however, her company knew she was planning on moving to the US so they found a spot for her in the city where we are moving. I believe this made the interview so much easier to go through. I would suggest, as painful as it is I would have the USC move back at least before the interview.

  8. Good morning everyone.

    Happy Canada Day.

With my visa being approved yesterday, my wife and I are starting to make a plans, so I thought I would ask everyone that has applied for EI as a IR1/CR1 visa holder what information I need and the process of getting this started. I do believe I have to wait until I cross the border to begin this process.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  9. Hey everyone.

Just came back from my 24 hour trip to Montreal with an approval from the consulate.

I was told I would get my passport/visa in a week. I tried to pry about the backlog or any other delays, I got "I cannot comment on that, check our website".

At least this part is done.

  10. Thanks for the reply. That is what I thought- 9:30 it is.

No my spouse is the US working, so she will not be accompanying me.

    Woohoo :)

From the recent reviews I've been reading, they are being a lot more strict on times.... 9:30 sounds good.

May I ask, is your US Spouse accompanying you??

  11. Good afternoon everyone.

Sitting aside the "glitch" with the US Embassies and Consulates, I am very nervous/excited about getting this process over and done with. As you can tell you by my topic title, my interview in Montreal for the IR-1/CR-1 Visa is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30th at 10am. I wanted to get some opinions on if the paperwork I/we have is enough. Basically, my wife (USC and Petitioner) has lived with me in Canada for four years, but as of June 1st has moved back to US and is working, so this should give some context of our paperwork.

    Folder 1:

    Interview Letter

    Loomis Letter

    Passport Photos

    Folder 2:

Original Civil documents (Police certification, marriage certificate, birth certficate - long and short, passport, etc) - we did EP so everything was scanned.

    Medicals

Original I-864 and resubmitted I-864 due to checklist

Updated I-864 with my wife's new job, income, and address

US Tax Returns 2013 and 2014

Canadian Tax Returns 2013 and 2014

Folder 3: Proof re-establishing domicile folder

    Letter confirming Employment

    Utility bill (Verizon phone contract)

    Mail from bank

Colour copy of new drivers license

    Lease

Possibly bank statement and/or paystub - if we get it in time.

In theory I think I am good, but any insight would be appreciated. Also one question; should I stand in line at 9:30am or get there as early as possible?

    Thanks,

  12. My apologies if this does not answer your question, but, everyone, I think there is a major problem going on right now. Go check out https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/iv

I have been reading the news about the glitches and it would be appear to be an issue for anyone that has submitted an online application for a passport or Visa on or after June 9th. So then in theory then this wouldn't be an issue for those who started this process way back in July 2014, right? My interview is two weeks from today, once the interview is successfully done I will ask them about the glitch and possible delays.

  13. Hey everyone.

My interview is on June 30th, but some people have been waiting for passport and visas for 4-8 weeks now. So if I somehow get caught in that rabbit hole, I would like to have an alternative, since my wife moved back home a couple of weeks ago after 4 years together in Canada.

  14. Hey everyone.

Since we have been hearing that getting our visas and passports from the Montreal consulate could possibly be past the time they give you - 2 weeks, I was wondering could I travel to the US with my nexus card and return when my visa is available?

  15. Hey NLR.

I/we are filling out the new I-864, but I have one question. Does my wife put her new annual income in? Even if she has only been there for weeks? Will we need to bring paystubs or bank statement with payroll deposit to prove her new income?

    Thanks

Because the NVC doesn't care past the interview given date point. Montreal will however.

  16. Hi NLR,

Yes she did move on June 1st and started work on June 3rd after her company got her transferred to a store in Chicago.

Any idea why we would be told by the NVC a new one isn't necessary? Because I did ask them twice.

I assume them that 2014 tax year will be used on the new I-864 and also her US income then?

  17. Hey everyone.

As I get closer to our interview date, I am getting more nervous to ensure I have the right paperwork.

I have been getting mixed answers, so I thought I would post here. My question is, do I need to bring and/or submit a new updated I-864 form with me to Montreal since my wife after 4 years in Canada is now back and working in the US (started on June 3rd)? The NVC tells me no, some posters who have their said no, but other poster said yes.

    Thanks.
