  1. I was born in the Philippines and moved to Chicago at the age of 1. I acquired US citizenship through my parents at the age of 7. I was born in the Philippines and therefore was a natural citizen of the Philippines. In 2008 I planned on being in the Philippines to do a little work for my Father and would have to be there for a year or more.. I decided it would be a good idea to get my dual citizenship. I filled out the paper work and walked it to the embassy and paid my fee. They have a schedule for taking the oath and ceremony. I think they do it once a month. I basically just picked the day I wanted to take my oath and I showed up and filled out more paper work and had my dual citizenship that day. They mailed me the official forms a couple months later. The process in 2008 wasn't that hard.. It only took me 2 or 3 weeks and the fee was minimal.. I still havent gotten a passport though, but I do have the official documents.

On a side note, my friend also did the same thing, and they actually had a separate ceremony for him because he could wait the 3 weeks for the scheduled oath days. In other words, they are pretty accommodating... At least in my experience that is..

    I hope this helps...

  2. Hello Everyone!

The time has come for my sputum culture results, and thanks God, I tested Negative. I am told to go to SLMEC tomorrow for my immunization, and I guess my interview will be on Feb 17.

However, I have a question. On my DS-156 form, nor in the other forms, I didn't get any stamp from BDO for the visa fee that I paid. Instead, they just attached the deposit slip copy which serves as the receipt. Is this ok when presented and asked during the interview?

    Thank you very much. Godbless.

    Chris and Aes

they changed their procedures.. Thats what they are doing now... My fiance paid hers at BDO on Feb 1 and I believe that is when they changed it... She just had and passed her interview on the 12th so everything was fine as far as the payment, so you should be fine as well...

  3. Well he said that hes filing at the USEM. I don't know if he means hes doing the initial filing for the K1 which is when you would normally start engaging with some sort of agency.. In which case, maybe he left out the 400+ dollars that you would need to do the initial filing for the USCIS and in which case would be close to what they were saying was needed in PHP.... Not sure though where they are at in the whole process....

  4. When USCIS finishes processing you the petitioner will get a NOA2. At that point it is in NVC. You can call NVC and get a status. Once they send it to the USEM they will tell you that. At that point it is best to wait about 10 days. It takes a few days for the papers to get to the USEM and then a few days for them to process it. You can call them at +63-2-301-2000 ext. 5184 or 5185 and ask what the status is once NVC has sent it to them. Once they get the package from NVC and process it they will send a letter to the beneficary at the address on the forms you submitted to USCIS. But as soon as they process it you can also call the interview number and not wait for the letter to be delivered to the beneficary.

    Hope this helps.

I have been searching and researching a lot...

I really hate to bring an old post back to life, but I'm still a little confused about something..

To recap, the quoted post says

    you get NOA2

    USCIS sends it to NVC

    NVC sends it to USEM

    USEM processes it

I can call the number when i feel it may be processed and schedule an interview if all is well.

Prior to the interview fiance has to take care of all the requirements..

What I don't get is when does she send in DS-156 DS-156K and DS-157.

There's no mention of that and searches seem a little ambiguous.

Does she bring those forms to the interview after she has paid the fee at BDO? or does she mail them in and have them processed prior to scheduling an interview..

There's tons of info on the site, and links that point to all the forms, but I'm just a little confused about submitting those forms in particular. I Know that the afidavit of support form goes with her to the interview, but the other three, I'm a little confused...

I will keep searching though, but I hope someone could just post up a clear simple answer...

    Thanks much guys!!!!
