Hi, Im hoping someone can help answer my question here in VJ and I really appreciate the info you can give. Heres my story: I am from the Philippines, Im in the US for over 5 years. I will become a US citizen soon. My question is do I need to File a dual citizenship for the Philippines? I'm naturalize Filipino, I still have my Philippines Passport. Please help, I don't want to Lose my Philippines citizenship, my family is there,relatives and friends and I will be Visiting them once or twice a year. I want to be a US citizen too. So, my question is Do I need to file dual citizenship in Philippines or Leave it that way I still be Philippines citizen i still have my passport. Thank you very much. God Bless VJ's.

Agree with the marriage cert. but why not renew your passport or have it ammended? They will just put a note on the annotation page of your last name...

Make sure it is a certified copy of your marriage cert...,..,the one with the red stamp on the fron, and tickets in the passport name.,..,just bring passport, ticket, cert. copy of marriage license, and GC.,.,.,.,every thing is covered!

Which name did you use for the ticket? SInce your passport is still in your maiden name the ticket should be in your maiden name--this MAY be a problem and I would check with the airlines. You can use your GC or other governement issued ID like DLs to get thru the TSA security check point, but the airlines will want the name on the ticket to match the government issed ID requried for international travel which is your PI passport. All the GC does is allow you to re-enter the US without a visa or using the VWP as you are a LPR (lawful perment resident). You have time before your travels, you might want to see about getting a new PI passport with your married name, if that is important to you.

I move that the motion that you take along a copy of your Marriage Certificate be passed. All those is favor say "AYE".

You should be just fine. I've never heard/read of anyone having a problem when they DID bring their marriage certificate. Enjoy your visit next year.

New Passport due to Change in Name

The Philippines has instituted the electronic passport (ePassport) system for all its citizens. The ePassport features microchip technology and a host of other security features thereby ensuring that Philippine passports are virtually tamper-proof. ePassport issuance is also compliant with the security standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The Philippine ePassport has an integrated circuit (chip) within its pages containing data that are essential in verifying the identity of the passport holder. These include the personal biographical information found on the data page of the passport, the biometrics of the passport holder, the unique chip identification number, and a digital signature to verify the authenticity of the data stored on the chip. The chip technology allows the information stored in an ePassport to be read by special chip readers at almost every international port of entry.

The Embassy/Consulate General receives and processes applications for ePassports, which in turn is sent to the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila for printing and issuance. Please allow at least 8 weeks for the entire process up to release of passport to applicant.

The Embassy/Consulate General advises all Philippine passport holders, whose passports are expiring within the next 6 months, to renew their passports if they intend to travel within the aforementioned period.

All Filipino citizens applying for passports with the Philippine Embassy/Consulate General will no longer need to submit photographs, as their picture, together with their fingerprints and signature, will be taken on-site. This means that all passport applicants, regardless of age, are henceforth required to appear personally.

There is no need for an appointment as applicants are served on a walk-in basis.

Under Philippine laws, a person’s legal name may be amended through the following:

• Change of name due to marriage
• Change of surname of a legitimated child by virtue of a subsequent marriage of parents
• Change of name due to adoption
• Change of name due to death of spouse or annulment of marriage
• Change of name due to divorce (valid only for those Filipinos who did not act as Plaintiff in the divorce proceedings, i.e. the Filipino spouse did not initiate the divorce proceedings; not valid for couples who were both Filipinos at the time of the marriage)
• Change of name as duly ordered by Philippine courts or the Civil Registrar General

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (to be submitted along with other requirements specific to case):

1. Duly-accomplished passport application form, typed or printed legibly in black or blue ink
2. Latest original passport and one photocopy of data page of passport (original will be returned)
3. Proof that applicant has not applied for foreign citizenship, e.g. resident alien card
4. Self-addressed return envelope, with appropriate stamps for express or priority mail with tracking numbers via US Postal Service, or with pre-paid mailing envelope from private courier of choice, if Passport is to be mailed back.
5. Passport fee of $60.00 (non-refundable), payable in cash, or money order, bank draft, certified check or cashier’s check, made payable to "Embassy of the Philippines" (or "Philippine Consulate General", if application is made at one of the Philippine Consulates General in the U.S.). Personal checks and credit cards are not accepted.

Note: The Philippine Embassy/Consulate General assumes no responsibility for any delay or loss in the mail, or while the documents are in the custody of the courier service. The applicant should note the tracking numbers of all envelopes used and submitted.

REQUIREMENTS for change of name due to marriage:

• NSO-certified original copy and one (1) photocopy of marriage certificate, if marriage was solemnized in the Philippines (original will be returned). Applicant may apply for NSO Marriage Certificate on-line at www.e-census.com.ph.
• Original and one (1) photocopy of marriage certificate (original will be returned) and duly-accomplished Report of Marriage Contracted Abroad form (please refer to Report of Marriage requirements in the List of Consular Services), if marriage was solemnized abroad

Hello Visa Journey, Im a Green-card holder here in the US. I'm planning to have a vacation in my hometown in the Philippines this coming april 2015. My problem is, the Last name on my green card doesn't coincide the Last name on my Phil passport. On my Green Card last name is my Married Name, and the Last name on my Passport is my Single name. I am a 10 yrs green card holder here in the US. I want my mother to see what US looks like and I want her to experience how life goes here in America. My goal is I want her to come to America but before that she have to undergo paper works, get the visa and stuff. My mother is working as a House keeper and she work live in, she doesn't own a house, cars or any property. She have bank account and she receives money monthly from my late father pension for serving the country. My mother doesn't have a plan staying here with me, she just want to go back and forth when she wanted. Do you think US embassy will grant her a tourist visa? I was a conditional resident here in United States based on marriage to a US citizen. I need to remove 3 months before my conditional permanent resident card will expire.

Does any body who process the same thing with me? or knows about this who could help me how to process this, and the papers that i need? forms that i need? i need an idea from you and your idea is such a helpful to me on this process. Need help and clarification. I enter in the US as K-1. I filed my I-765 together with my I-485. The USCIS send me a letter that my Biometrics was Cancelled, so i did not appear to the office were my Biometrics will be. Its already 6 months and they dont send me no more schedule for my Biometrics. My question is What will I do about this situation. I been waiting awhile and nothing happened yet. Please help me, i really need it now. Talking about my I-485, i recieved a letter from USCIS that my I-485 was transferred to California state office for the decision and said I have just to wait 180 days from the date was transferred. Now im still waiting. I am just concerned on my Biometrics because i have not done it yet because they cancel it.. please contact me with this account in visa journey w/c is ron_ev.
