Hi All,
I am ready to file for I-485 for my wife, she came here on a K1. I have few questions.
1. Her I-94 expires in July, do we file before her I-94 expires or we can wait few months?(We are already married now)
2. Do we need certified copy of marriage certificate or just a regular copy?
3. Is K1 visa holder allowed to work prior to filing for AOS.
Thank you all in advance for your help

I believe females are less likely to go through AP in Pakistan or for that matter anywhere across the globe

All went well today, my fiance had her interview they asked for following questions.
1. Why are you going to U.S.A
Ans: to meet and stay with my fiance
2. Are you married
Ans: No I am not
3. Where your fiance works?
Ans: He works in ABC Company as a Engr.
4. How did you guys met?
Ans: Via family friends.
5. Are you two related?
Ans: NO
6.Where he lives?
And: Dallas
Then he said to my fiance that she is APPROVED and will get visa in mail soon. Roughly any idea how long it takes?

Hi All,
We are prety much towards the last stage of K1, We have send all the documents to Embassy but havent received any confirmation from them. I called DOS and was told that the interview for my fiance has been scheduled for next week however my fiance still havent received anything from them. Is there anything I can do to help her. We have contacted embassy and are awaiting there response.

A lot of this depends on what country your fiancée is coming from. If you can tell us that then maybe someone can answer your questions. There can really be a big difference in how things are done depending on the country.
She is coming from Pakistan

Hi All,
My fiance received packet 3.5 yesterday and it states that
You should complete and print the following forms online.
• DS 156 – 2 Copies
• DS 156K – only for K1/fiancé visas
• Parents’ Information form
• Visa Fee $350.00 only.
• DS 157
• DS 230 – only complete Part 1
When filling out DS-157 it says to send police certs and birth certificates. Do we have to send the original because i thought we can take it to the interview. Also it says to provide Evidence of engagement so should we send out pics also along with DS-157.
And lastly the Visa fee is that something to be paid on the day of interview or prior to that
any help will be appreciated

Hi All,
I was wondering that before submitting the police certificate from UK for K1 Visa. Can we open and see what it says or send it to embassy without breaking the seal?

Hi All,
I received my NOA2 on Feb14, and NVC sent the case to the destination embassy on Feb 24th. However I still havent received any mail from them. Am I suppose to receive anything from them? If so Can I just call them and request them to send another one?
Please help
-
I was in the same boat, I bet if you call NVC again and get another agent they will just tell you that it can take up to 4 weeks before application is sent to Embassy.
When I first called NVC I was told my case requires additional processing, I called right back to another agent who told me that case will be sent out to Embassy next day. (GO FIGURE). In my case the case was really sent to Embassy the next day.

We got our K-1 Approved yesterday and i had a few question. This site as been a life Saviour from the start
1. What happens now ? When should i call NVC?
2. When do i get a new receipt number ?
3. I am confused about the whole DHL process, i read about it but not sure how that works ?
4. Anyone do a K-1 with the Chennai consulate lately ? More info will be appreciated thank you
Wait a week and then call NVC and they will provide you the NEW CASE NUMBER, A week after that it should leave for the destination embassy. Call them again and find out when exactly it left for the embassy and then lets say if they say it left Mar 3rd(just an example) then go to DHL site and put in the reference number EXP 02 MAR 2011A and you will see a list of packets leaving just find the one for your embassy

Anyone out there who had to go through similar situation? Any input will be appreciated

Hi all,
Little confused about the forms we need for my fiance when applying for visa at the embassy. As per travel.gov we need the following documents, however I have heard that we need DS-230 also which is not mentioned here. As always any input will be appreciated.
Required Documentation
You, the foreign-citizen fiancé(e), (and eligible children applying for K-2 visas) will be required to bring the following forms and documents to the visa interview:
* Two (2) Nonimmigrant Visa Applications, Form DS-156 (prepared in duplicate). NOTE: K-1/K-2 visa applicants should not fill in Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application
* One (1) Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application, Form DS-156K
* A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the U.S. (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions)
* Birth certificate
* Divorce or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse(s) for both you and the U.S. citizen sponsor
* Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for 6 months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)
* Medical examination (vaccinations are optional, see below)
* Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)
* Two (2) 2x2 inch photographs. See the required photo format explained in Nonimmigrant Visa Photograph Requirements

Hi All,
I was going through the paper work again and found out that I forgot to mention one of the addresses for my fiance in G-325A form. My petition has already been approved by USCIS and are awaiting a Packet3 from embassy. Is that something to worry about? Should we right the address that we missed on our DS-230 or any other VISA form that my fiance has to fill out?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hey congratulations! Where is your local Embassy?
We got our approval January 24 and while I don't know when NVC received our case, our application was sent to our consulate on February 3rd, so that is 10 days - that seems like a pretty common amount of time - between 1 and 2 weeks.
Local Embassy is Islamabad,Pakistan.
-
Hi All,
I filed for I-129F on Aug 23 and did receive the email and text today stating that I have been APPROVED.
I guess now have to wait on NVC to forward the case to local Embassy.
Any ideas how long that takes

Hi All,
This morning I had my interview scheduled for 8am in Irving,TX. I reached there at 7.30 and was called in by Officer around 7.40am. I was done by around 8am. Everything went smoothly, since today was also my 5 year anniversary so they offered me same day oath which I will be taking in 2 hours. They asked for Selective Service paper and that all. No other documents at all.
The questions were
1. How many senators
2. Which ocean is on East Coast.
3. What age we register for Selective Service
4. What is freedom of religion.
I forgot the other 2.
Then was the reading / writing part and after that I was offered same day oath.
-
I have interview 8am. I am hoping to get same day oath.
-
Thank you members for your insight. Does anyone know the oath schedule for Dallas.

Hi All,
I have my interview scheduled for May 18th in Dallas,TX. I applied based on 5 year LPR status. I received a white letter(N-659) with checklist of items to bring.
What other documents should I take beside my GC, ID, Passport and 2 photos, and proof of Selective Service. Also does anyone know the Oath schedule for Dallas Field Service.

I got my interview letter yesterday, its scheduled for May 18th. I was issued GC on 5/18/2005 so on my day of interview will I be eligible to get the Oath Letter or same day oath? Interview is falling exactly on 5th year since I got GC.
Also can someone please update my time line.
