  1. Hi folks,

It's been 5 weeks since i sent away my packet with all the forms.. and i can honestly say the waiting is really wearing thin now.. i mean i dont even know if they got the package, in this day and age is it too much to ask for a simple acknowledgement, i dont think so. :(

My fiancee called the DOS today to see if there were any updates and was told that we should call, email or write to the Embassy to ask for an update the lady on the phone said "it has been long enough".

Has anyone got in contact with the embassy and been sucessful in getting a case update or will it be a simple generic response?

What can possibly take so long, its crazy..

Hi, I've never posted on here, but I'm Mrstrain14's fiance...I just wanted to say that having to wait such a long time for your interview sounds awful! Mike just sent his Packet 3 back today to the Embassy, so I'm getting more excited, but honestly, to see that you've waiting 5 weeks...Hang in there!! It is a little crazy though. :/

  2. Even if you do send a copy of the birth certificate instead of copies of all pages of the passport, still send in a copy of the 'main' passport page (info and pic) as well as copies of the pages with the entry/exit stamps of the country you met in.

Thank you for that advice, I was wondering if I should include my passport in addition to my birth certificate copies. We already added copies of the pages with entry/exit stamps for when I visited him in the UK.

  3. So wait, the instructions I was reading didn't say anything about having to send in a passport photo for the foreign fiance. Do I really need to send a photo of BOTH of us with the I-129F?

Yes, you do. On the instructions page for I-129F, #6, part B, it says you need to attach a passport-style photograph of both you and your fiance taken within 30 days of submitting the application. Hope that helps! Good luck! :)

  4. Thank you! We were wondering if there were certain sorts of "proof" that were needed that we weren't thinking of. Appreciate the advice!

Thank you too for your advice!! I forgot to include birth certificate because I still have not made a copy yet. This is helpful.

Update on the Birth Certificate - Have a copy now, but the back is completely blank? We need to send in copies of both the front and the back of the certificate, so i'm a little confused...

  5. Looks good. I would include a bit more evidence of meeting that is primary. Ie boarding passes, receipts in each others towns etc. E-mails and photos aren't primary evidence. Also some people like a cover letter.

Just a few things where people trip up: Did you include all of the pages of the G-325a? A lot of people just send the first page accidentally. Is everything signed in person, not e-mailed or faxed? Did you remember to sign the check? Did you make a photocopy of the packet for reference? Were you able to fit your "how you met" onto the I-129f? I didn't see that included, but some people can get it to fit on their forms. That's all I can think of right now. Good luck!

I don't see birthcertificate for petitioner or all pages of passport, either one is required to prove citizenship.

Oh, and make sure to make out the check to "Department of Homeland Security." some people make the mistake and write "USCIS"...this could cause a problem and delay, but not always. Good luck!

  6. Hello everyone!

We are just about to submit the K-1 application to the Vermont Service Center, and we just wanted to pick the brains of those in the know to make sure we have everything we need before we send it off.

So, here is what we have so far:

    1. I-129F - Fully completed, signed, and dated.

    2. G-325A - Biographic information...one for each of us.

    3. 1 passport-sized photo of each of us.

    4. Proof of having met in the last two years - we have included the following:

    - Several email printouts from various points in our relationship

    - Five photographs of us together

    - Photocopies of passport pages showing entry into each other's countries

    5. Statements of mutual intent to marry...one from each of us, plus the following proof:

    - Photos of us together with me wearing the ring.

    - Copy of the ring purchase receipt

    6. Check for $455.

We have plenty of forms downloaded in preparation for further steps, any hints/tips/advice on the above or future steps would be greatly welcomed. Thank you so much, look forward to hearing from you. This process is a little nerve-racking, but it's really great to know that there are others like us out there. :)

    Thanks!!

    -Simone
