  1. Thanks for the help! Luckily the letter came today. I just want to confirm one thing just to be on the safe side:

    The letter says

"Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year. During the one year extension you are authorized employment and travel. (This extension and authorization for employment and travel does not apply to you if your conditional status has been termination)"

I think wanted to make sure the bold/underlined line means that "terminated" as in the change of status was denied by the U.S. Immigration Services and not an "expired greencard". Please let me know. Thanks.

  2. Hi I put in a I-751 to convert my wife's greencard status. I live in Michigan and It was delivered to the California office on March 7th 2012. My wife's greencard expires April 15th 2012. We have one week off from April 16 - 20 and wanted to take a trip to Cancun. I know the processing time for I-751 is suppose to be 6 months in the california center. Anyone know how can I find out when I get the 1 yr extension letter? If it'll come within a month, then I'd like to book tickets for our trip ASAP. Any help will be great! Any number I can call and even it means holding for 1 hour or more would be okay...I I can find out if the 1 yr extension letter is coming soon. Please advice. Thanks.

  3. Sounds good I'll e-mail. It. If I use U.S. Postal service express delivery do I send it to the second address listed below...or by express do they mean fed-ex/ups type of deliveries?

    Non Courier Address

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services P.O. Box 805887 Chicago, IL 60680-4107

    For couriers/express deliveries:

USCIS Attn: FBAS 131 South Dearborn - 3rd Floor Chicago, IL 60603-5517

  4. For mailing the I-485/I-130/I-765/I-131 package it is mailed to a chicago addess:

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services P.O. Box 805887 Chicago, IL 60680-4107

    For couriers/express deliveries:

USCIS Attn: FBAS 131 South Dearborn - 3rd Floor Chicago, IL 60603-5517

I live in downtown Chicago. I was wondering is there a place where I can just hand walk my application in give to the INS office? If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks.

  5. Reading instructions for AOS, I was told I need 4 G-325 applications. Just wondering where do all 4 of these go?

One goes with I-130, one with I-485, what do I do with the other two? I am complining the application as a complete packet for each application with the following forms.

    1. I-130 package

    2. I-485 package

    3. I-765 package

    4. I-131 package

I see only two places where G-325 forms can be used so am confused as to what to do with the the other two. Thanks.

  6. Hi I am a U.S. citizen filing for AOS for my non-non citizen spouse. Is my understanding of fees correct?

    1. I-765 - I am filing for a new EAD under category ©(9). ©(9) is exempted only under renewal. This is not listed as an exception so should I pay the $340?

    2. I-485 - $1010. This includes I-131 fee is filed together.

    3. I-130 - $355 fee

Are these all the fees needed? Any help will be helpful. Especially if I need to pay for I-765. Thanks

  7. Hi I am a U.S. citizen who is filing for AOS for my spouse. We recently married. My spouse is from India. All the paperwork is pretty much complete. We ran into one problem when I was about to translate her birth certificate from Punjabi to English. Her Birth Certificate has her location of birth as one city and the passport has a city of birth as a different nearby city. Is it safe to submit with this discrepancy so can anything be done. Any place I can call for questions? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

  8. Hi I am filling out in I-864. Question # 25 asks the following;

"I have filed a Federal tax return for each of the three most recent tax years. I have attached the required photocopy or transcript of my Federal tax return for only themost recent tax year."

I filed in 2008 and 2007, but in 2006 I was a student, had no income and did not file. So I cannot check the box associated with the line listed above. I need to attach an explanation letter. Does this letter need to be in any specific format. What identifying information does it need? A link to a sample or any other information will be very helpful. Thanks for you help in advance.

  9. Hi I need to get my tax transcripts for the last 2 yrs. What is the fastest way to get it. Are service out there that will e-mail it to me? How long does it take to get it directly from the IRS?

I found these two sites. Are they reliable? Does the IRS have a direct online service like the two I mentioned below?

    https://www.bktaxtranscripts.com/home/home.php

    https://www.accuverify.com/pay.html

  10. Hi I am a U.S. citizen filing for an AOS for my wife who is on a H1B visa. In the I-864 Question 21a asks you to add put in the number of people I am sponsoring is one "1" my spouse. Then 21c, asks me to put in "1" for my spouse, but the title above it says "Person's NOT sponsored" in this affidavat. So Even though I have a spouse should I put "0" there because she is the one I am also sponsoring. So then my total household size will come out as "02"

Is this correct. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

  11. I am filling out a G325a form. One of the sections asks for "applicant's employment over the last 5 yrs" Then below it, it asks for full name and address of the employer. Problem is that when I write the full name and full address there isn't enough room in the box.

    For example:

"Henry Ford Hospital, 2799 W Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48202" Does not all fit in one line. So is it okay to write an abbreviated version, like

"Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI 48202" or if I need the complete address should I attach an extra page on the side?

Please advice. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

  12. Hi I am a U.S. citizen and filing for my spouse who is on H1B. I am filing for I-485 and need help in part II. Non-Immigrant Visa #

She was on a H1B that was issues in 2006. The visa was stamped on her passport when she made a return trip to India on that H1B. Then in 2009 she got a new job and a new H1B I-94 form. The new form does not have a visa stamped on it because she has not yet gone to India yet on that I-94. So do I use the VISA# from the original H1B which is expired or a different one? Lastly is the visa number located in red in the bottom right hand corner?

For consulate where visa was issued do I use just country or city and country?

Any help will be great. Thanks.

  13. Thanks. She has a passport from India. I am worried because one the required paperwork in the link for the guidelines you mentioned above were.

"Copy of the non US Citizen Spouses Passport (biographical page as well as entry stamps)."

The passport will expire on 12/29/09...so I didn't want them to reject the application because of that. She will be applying for a new passport and getting it within the next 2-3 weeks. I just wanted to send out the paper work so we can get employement authrorization asap so my wife can leave her current work and come live with me in the same city. So just wanted to clearify that an expired passport will not jeopardize the application to get atleast to get the employement authorization. Thanks.

  14. This might be a pretty number question. I'm a U.S citizen. I-130 #13 asks for a "Naturalization. Give certificate number and date and place of issuance."

I have my certificate with a number that starts with "A" followed by several numbers. There is also another number of the certificate that begins with the number "8" and is a total of 8 characters. Which one of the the two is the Naturalization number.

Lastly my spouse is on a H1-b and some applications for her ask for an Alein number. I know green cards have an Alien number on them. She doesn't have one. Where among her H1B papers can I find her alien number? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

  15. Hi I wanted to file for a AOS application for my wife. We recently got married. I'm a U.S. citizen and she is working on a H1B visa. So Far what I have gathered is that the applications to file are.

    1) I-485 - AOS application

    2) I-131 - Travel Document

    3) I-693 - health clearance

    4) I-130 - Petition for alien relative

    5) I-765 - Emplyement Authorization form - For Part 16 it asks for eligibility category – My wife is a physician on a H1B visa. I’m a citizen. So what eligibility category will that make her?

Do I need the following as well?

    1) I-864 Affidavat of support?

    2) G-325 biographic information?

My wife is on H1B that will expire within 30 days of her leaving her job. She works in a different state. We'd like to live together as soon as possible. So i wanted to get everything done together and right the first time. I have never done this and the immigration lawyer is charging a ludicrous amount of $2000, in which I have I already filled out all the applications, except for a few areas I need help on. If anyone out there can help please let me know. I'd really appreciate it. Also what documents do I need to mail with the application? like Marriage license? verification of employment? anything else that is needed? Please any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
