Hello All,
My father in-law has green card but spent most of his time outside of USA in the past 5 years. Can he apply for citizenship? Can you please guide me what are the guidelines and rules for the process?
Thank you,

Hi,
He can get the plastic bag at the embassy or yes he can carry his documents in the plastic transparant bag.
Good luck...

Hi,
Im sorry to hear that.....
I would tell you to refile your I- 130 from the start and don't wait for it to reach USCIS California Service Center
cuz it takes 3 months to reach and then another three months for them to review the case.
GOOD LUCK...

For Islamabad Embassy it takes one and half month for interview date. That means you might hear something by the 15th of this month, if not then 15 of next month.
Good luck

Thanks again to all, we will be looking forward to hear from you as well, since we consider all of you the part of the family in this visajourney
-
Did you expedite your case by any chance? Anyway, good luck with the rest of the steps to come
We are going through this journey 2nd time because our first case was denied after the 2nd interview. So, it could be our old record that USCIS might be able to track down and approve this new case.
Now do you guys consider yourself lucky or not after finding out about our journey . So, it is good to leave it on God and just keep moving

Please also check my signature

adjudicated date has been changed a day ahead for us
-
I was telling my wife that we have to give it at least 2 months before we really see any progress but she wants this to be approved asap
-
just to give you guys some hope, check this link
http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?visa=3&form=2&scenter=1&option=1&sortby=1
Somebody who filed in the month of November has already received NOA2.... Although as you can see it was super slow in the month of November however now it is picking up in the month of January... I am keeping my fingers cross
-
Although the proceeding of the cases could be random but we still look forward to look at the case situation for people who have submitted before us because somewhere in our heart we want USCIS to approve everybody's case as soon as possible, since we all are connected through this VisaJourney and we all should be marching like
-
For what it's worth, I got my NOA2 completely unexpectedly after almost exactly 3 months.
BTW I am glad to see that you have already completed NVC steps, it's about party time for you

I have a question on DS-3032(Choice of Agent). Can anybody please suggest.
why don't you send that in email, which is much faster
http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form
If you still want to fill that form then type "NA" instead of N/A
goodluck

I really don't want to wait anymore, is there anyway to expedite the case . I know if we know the way then everybody must be on the same track .
-
You guys are not alone, I also rec'd NOA1 on 27th Nov and since then there is no update. I called uscis to find out that they have the case in their system but it hasn't updated yet. It is frustrating but we still have to give them sometime...

Hi, i got issued a blue slip too and for a similar reason. The divorce certificate that i submitted was not in the required format. I was told to submit urdu divorce certificate from union council and english divorce certificate from family court.
Can you tell me if the embassy specified to you what type of divorce certificate they want from you?

Apply for US Citizenship???
in US Citizenship General Discussion

Hello Everybody,
Thanks for your quick responses. However, I am looking for more clarification on this even after reading the document to avoid any confusion.
My father in-law got the perm status back in 2005 and since then he has visited states every year for 1 month or so (let say 10 months all together) but he has not stayed there for consecutive months. I believe he is not eligible to apply for citizenship please correct me if I am wrong here. Now please tell me for how many consecutive months does he have to stay in states before he can apply? also does the consecutive months matter?
Thanks,
