  1. Hello fellow FB-1s,

I went to the NVC website to pay the fees and submit the documents after I received the welcome letter from NVC. However, I found the information below on the website:

"If you are physically present in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status with USCIS, then your case will not be processed by the NVC. (You will not apply for an immigrant visa.) Do not pay any fees or submit any forms to the NVC. Notify the NVC by email or mail as soon as you decide to pursue adjustment of status."

I am currently on a student visa in the USA. I already emailed NVC about my situation. However, does anyone know the procedures in my case?

Good luck to all of us, praying for a faster movement next month.

  2. Hi,

The affidavit of support fee, is a processing fee for your visa. You should have received two notices, one affidavit of support and the second Immigrate visa fee. If your asking how does this translate to solid date/time before your priority becomes current? It really doesn't help, it just means your visa is moving forward. Keeping track of the bulletin board and it's movement, that is the only solid way of knowing. However, we have records of many users getting their visa within a year to two after receiving their affidavit of support.

    Thank you cassanoa.

I just received one email only asking for 120$ for affidavit of support.

In the pdf sent, they are saying after paying fees and processing they will schedule an interview in the embassy back home. However, I am currently in the USA as a student and can not go back home because I did not do military service. Can I know change my status from student to resident?

  3. Obama said he will act on immigration using his executive powers after Midterm Election which took place yesterday. The rumors in the news that he will grant amnesty to illegal immigrants in the US, and will give them green cards and/or work authorization. I believe it is totally unfair to take care of the illegals before those who went through the legal paths and waited for years. Please send emails to the white house explaining that an immigration reform should include fixing the legal immigration long waiting times before granting illegals green cards. Also, ask your parents to send emails to senators in their respective states. WE NEED TO ACT!

This is the link to contacting the white house. http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact

your parents would find the email of their senators on the senator's website.
