  2. Hi everyone,

I am still in Japan, after visiting the Tokyo with my fiancee 2 days ago. The interview was quite easy, and I had a suspicion which of the two COs at the window would handle our case. I could actually see the guy thumbing through and studying our case for about 10 minutes before she was called up - because I caught a glimpse of her passport photo.

At about 9:30am, we had the interview after waiting around getting her biometrics and submitting documents ( hers and my I-134 bundle ). They kept most of my I-134 paperwork, but handed back some of my tax, bank, real estate papers. The room had seats for about 100 - some Russian family, an Indian family, some Japanese ladies with military husbands sat in the room..

I was fortunate to meet another woman whose fiance from California, is a VJ member. how cool is that! I said hello and heard her story.

Anyways the CO asked my fiancee how we met. And tried to find out any mistakes in her answer as to how many times did she visit me. We practiced that question already!

He did ask her about where she will live, what she plans to do in America. My fiancee said he made some small jokes and overall he was quite courteous and cheerful. His only concern was why she lost her F-1 visa paperwork from 10 years ago when she studied English in Los Angeles. But it was fine- she was honest - that she probably lost it.

This morning while I slept, a delivery man knocked at her door and presented the expack 500 packet from the US Embassy -- it is like a return packet for documents in Japan. We will open it together at dinner tonight to really celebrate.

I can't thank VJ enough for giving me clarity and hope during these 200 exact days of wondering what's going on

Here are some photos of her Expack 500 and the US Embassy in Tokyo.

  3. Hi everyone, I just arrived in Tokyo to help accommodate my fiancee to her interview next Monday in Tokyo. A few days for me to double check her DS-156 and birth certificate and organize my I-134 bundle would be our next steps. so far Japan is nice and accommodating as its a national holiday for a few days. I think the Tokyo embassy should be a piece of cake, but I'll still drill her on the test questions a few more times.

    more updates next week

  4. My fiancee just scheduled her interview with the Embassy at Tokyo for May 10, after they emailed her that they received DS-230 paperwork!

She was more terrified of getting all her fingerprints taken the other day at the central police station. She said it felt so serious and business like.

Found some good flight deals already if I book a month ahead and avoid travel during their Golden Week national holiday ( first part of May ). From what I've read the embassy is one of the easiest to pass.

  5. Sorry I didn't get to join the March 2010 NVC for more than 2 or 3 days. Today I called the NVC, and slept on the phone for a 20 minute wait. The kind lady confirmed our Dates of birth and email addresses. I asked "is my case undergoing additional processing"? She replied, it looks like we just sent it over to the embassy already.

Nothing like USCIS. Good luck to those also with K1s at NVC. You should plan to call on phone, I never received one email from the NVC ( even though they have both of ours )

  6. Actually, we were waiting for NOA1. My fiance just received it last weekend. 4 months and 1 week for NOA1. This slow process is driving us crazy. We used the receipt number to check our case online, it shows "Initial Review". It's so weird to me, is there anything wrong here, you think ?

@Matt & Chie : What information do you have to provide when you email to USCIS ?

Chi Na - That's absurd that the delivery man probably dropped in the wrong pile for the past 4 months. Initial Review is where my case sat after NOA1 for 4 months -- it means you are waiting for them to look at it..

What I would do is write an email with your WAC number. What I am thinking is to consider scheduling an infopass if email is not helpful. Give them until the 5 month mark before you let hell loose. That would be about April 2010. It does not matter that it sat in the dark for 4 months before NOA1.. They had it the whole time and use that fact to hold them accountable.

A "touch" mean that your case was updated. When you get an account for the online USCIS, you will enter your case ( WACxxxxxxxxxx) number. Once it shows it, check out the Last Updated column - that date is a "touch". A touch may or may not mean anything important; but it is a sign of activity.

  7. i have a same probelm as yours.. my first NOA1 on OCt. 13 and touched on Jan. six.. No news since then..

i called immigration service number today and said it is normal (bull ######)...

They told me to wait another 30 days..

I am going to congresswoman office today.

    Kalay -

Here is the actual email I sent to them last week. I hope it gets you a touch at least if you write them !

    Csc-NCSC-FollowUp@dhs.gov

I need clarification from the previous email from Officer Agorrilla.

    >> " USCIS electronic records indicate that your application/petition was filed on October 22, 2009 and is not currently within our five processing time."

If the record is NOT in the five [ month?? ] processing time, then it must require a service request, as you mentioned in the email I quoted. It has been several months and I have heard nothing back from the USCIS. As a matter of fact, people I know have applied for the I-129F after me, but already been adjudicated.

Please let me know if there is further evidence required or information for me to provide to help process my I129F Fiancee form with USCIS. I have called the 1-800 NCSC hotline twice to speak with a customer agent. And am following up via email for a detailed response. I thank you for your time

    Respectfully

  8. Finally got the email notification today ( March 5).. although the USCIS status said my NOA2 was yesterday.

So after 133 days, I can stop holding my breath  thanks VJ. :star:

I think sending the USCIS CSC gentle nudge emails may have helped.

Here is an email I received yesterday from one of the officers :

Sorry for the confusion. USCIS electronic records indicate that your application/petition was filed on October 22, 2009 and is not currently within our processing time. We are currently processing cases filed five months in which they are received. March 22, 1020 will be your five months and the status of your case may be obtained online at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do.

    Thank you,

    Officer Chito Agorrilla

Despite his typos, I regarded Chito's email as just another form letter slapped together to respond to the thousands of backpiled entries..

I had written them a month prior, which resulted in a touch to my status only. The lesson learned is that we have to give the USCIS a firm, but polite nudge once in a while. I think for petitioners who get left in the dust, we need to be proactive and put heat on these adjudicators..

Onwards to NVC, stage 2 >>>

  9. Do you know if they are applying this to everyone who ever had a felony conviction? Or just those that are abuse or drug related? On the application I did not marked when it asked if I was ever in trouble, because those conditions do not apply to me.

I got one count in my case from the feds back in 1994 for some white collar mischief. Hope this is not going to put my case into a indefinite black hole! What I did back then hopefully does not screw up my chance for marrying my fiancee.

Since my I129F NOA1 was Oct 2009, it would make sense for me to be in the same position as the other unlucky folks .. Let's get some more facts to get rid of this cloud of uncertainty and doubt.

    Matt

  10. Um...okay. So I just went to my timeline, and it says we should get our NOA2 by January 22-February 1st...that was today, but I haven't been touched or gotten an email or anything...how accurate is that? I'm freaking out! Now I'm not going to be able to sleep!!!

Don't freak out, as the statistics are based on VJ member's averages. Remember the USCIS site says the wait could be 3-6 months - with 5 months being 'average'. I spoke with a USCIS operator today, he had nothing reassuring to say other than call back if it passes the 5 month mark. In general be prepared to wait another month.. I got my NOA1 on Oct, 22, 2009 - so we are both close.
