  1. John, I don't know how it is with you but on my Drivers License is written, in red, Temp Immigrant Status and the expiration date is beginning next year. Also for your SSN you're registered as an immigrant. They will not change your SSN but your status from immigrant to citizen. This is important when somebody checks your status... your employer, the government, etc...

This is actually my wife who is about to change her status to citizen. I remember when we first got her SSN, they did ask for her status, so you are right. We will get the DMV done also. And the passport. Thanks, CVB.

ELW, thanks for your reply also and congraulations! My wife's ceremony is in mid December, so we are very excited! I wonder if we can bring a camcorder besides the camera?

  2. YES

You will receive a notice of receipt for the form stating that "Your alien card is extended one year - employment and travel authorized". Keep the receipt with your green card.

OK, thanks for the prompt reply, but does she still also need her country's passport to re-enter U.S.? If so, does the last name of the passport (maiden) have to match up with the GC (married name)? Or it don't matter.

  3. My wife just got her Biometric done. This was for the conditional removal of her 2-year GC. Can she travel while the approval is pending? Or if you got the Biometric appointment done, does it means you're on your way to approval if the Biometric clears? I understand that if you got the extension 1-year letter for GC and your expired GC, you can re-enter the U.S., right? We got the extension letter after UCSIS Service Center got our I-751 application. Does she also need her passport of her country if she travels and re-enters the U.S. and/or does she have to change her passport to her married last name like mine? It currently has her maiden last name. Please help me. Thanks.

  4. Thanks for the input, Lucy and Rich. I just sent my I-751 yesterday afternoon not knowing. I did list our son in the marriage, which is correct on Part 5, but I also listed my daughter from a previous marriage, not of my current wife, (which like you said shouldn't be there). Hope this won't cause any problem for USCIS when they see this little error

? But I did wrote down my daughter is a U.S. citizen on the line after the address fill in on Part 5 as well as my son.

  5. Thank you, folks for all your answers! I do have the joint tax returns, joint car insurance, joint title of car, joint health insurance, life insurance beneficial to wife, joint vehicle loan, joint bank statements (hope last two months is enough?), and joint utilities bill. Our son's, birth certificate, marriage certificate. That driver's license sounds like a good idea or I'll go down to Remax office. God bless you folks.

  6. Hello everyone,

Do I need a lease or mortgage contract to show joint occupancy? Is this neccessary to get 10 year green card from the I-751 form? My house is almost done payment and I want to change after the reconveynance soon, otherwise you have to refinance. I got the utility bills and bank statements and so forth, except the house. Did anyone send in the I-751 and got approve without the lease or mortgage contract for joint occupancy? Please let me know. Thanks. :help:
