  1. Is there anyway we can do a thorough enough background check ourselves to find out if it is there.

I see where you are going with that question and that way lies danger.

If you do not disclose you could be considered guilty of attempting fraud and that could really screw things up.

In your position I would start thinking more of ways to mitigate it that to hide it.

As you can see here even far more serious charges are not necessarily a bar.

  2. It's been a long and expensive journey but today I received the I-797 that began with those words...

"Welcome to the United States of America"

My 10 year Green Card is in the mail and I am shocked and overjoyed, particularly since I have 3 criminal convictions in one country and 1 in another. I've never spoken about this here because I am deeply ashamed of those things I did (fraud and theft) and I never believed I had any right to deserve a visa or the right to stay here. I followed the procedures , admitted my past and today it feels like America forgave me and gave me a second chance. I am ecstatic and I will do everything in my power to be the very best citizen in waiting I can be.

There is no doubt that I would not be in this position without a lot of the advice from this board so deep and sincere thanks to you all. I figure I have some giving back to do , so ask any questions you like. And for those out there who are struggling with a past , hang in there, there really is hope.

  3. Look under Part 3 Required Documentation in the instructions. I will check again when I get home but he sent a copy of the front and back of the old EAD, the E-file reciept with the case number on it, passport pics, and I will check the rest. Be sure to send it to the address on the reciept you will get when you pay online. Also as soon as you get the reciept online call and make your biometrics appt. He had that within 2 days of applying and he got his renewal EAD cardback within about 60 days.

What (if any) supporting documents need to be sent with an EFiled EAD renewal ?

I have to do biometrics again ? Have my fingerprints changed ?

    I appreciute the help

  4. Would like to know if everything will be delayed for 90 days

It wasnt for me , i got my EAD about 3 weeks after submitting the changed document. I may have been very fortunate. It seems I was in a batch of approved EAD's some of which had filed long before me.

Another thing , the online site is ridiculously innacurate at predicting timelines. I had my EAD in hand the day before the website showed I had been approved.

    Here's hoping for you !

  5. Here's my situation.

I'm the adjuster. Im married to a US citizen who is not employed. She is my petitioner. I work.

This situation has changed since we filed the first I-864 when she was employed and I was waiting for EAD.

We have an interview in a couple of weeks and I understand the need for a new I-864.

Obviously my income is of no use so we need a joint sponsor.

The instuctions seem pretty clear. My wife as petitioner is obliged to submit an I-864. (presumably indicating 'none' where questions are asked about employment ...correct ? )

He sister (us citizen - resident in Germany) has agreed to act as joint sponsor.

Her sister needs to file what ? An I-864 or an I-134 ?

    Thanks for any advice.

  6.

I've left it pretty late to renew my EAD but I do have a 60 or so days before it expires. Fingers Crossed.

The form is offline right now for maintenance but when I logged in earlier to look at it asked a lot of questions about which regional office and service centers my 485 and 765 were being processed at.

I dont know. I sent everything to Chicago dropbox and im not sure where things are being processed.

My receipt numbers all have MSC prefixes but they came from a PO box at the National XSC in MO.

The choices didnt seem to match up. Can anyone help ?
