  1. Hello everybody.

I want to share something that makes me a little worried. I dont know if somebody is in the same situation.

I know my husband for 6 years, we are married 2.5 years. Our marriage goes well. The thing that makes me worried is that His family seems not to care about getting in touch with me. I have never talked to them, nobody from his side came to our wedding, and things like that. I have get in touch thru e mail to some young nephews that got curious about me but thats all.

I try to be very polite to them, I send gifts for them with my husband, e cards for christmas, mother´s day, birthdays. etc. But i have never ever got a "Thanks" reply or a simple e mail from his parents or siblins. I ask my husband about it and he comes with things like They are shy to write me back because of their spelling being not that good, or they are not familiar with computers or they are too busy and only says Thanks thru my husband.

When he is with me and call his family sometimes they will says HI thru my husband but never ask to talk with me on the phone not even on our wedding day!

So what do you think? Is it normal? do they hate me? am I not good enough for them? Prejudice??

My husband always says how his family cant wait to meet me. I think: Come on! really? if they never bother to get in touch with me or know me.

I am a very well educated person, got degrees, speak some languages. I know they can feel kinda intimidated for this but still, my husband is not. So why his family acts that way?

I feel afraid to move there even more knowing how they react with me. I try not give it too much importance because i dont want to make my husband worried or knowing him he might get mad at his family and i dont want that.

So what can i do? What should i expect when i move there?

just be careful it doesnt seem good it smells fishy good luck

  2. Ive brought this topic to discussion a couple of times, but need to reopen it due to alot of changes. My wife and I have been married for almost 2 years now. We have a beautiful baby girl who is almost 2 years old. We just came back from Peru after waiting there for her K3 visa to be approved. We arrived in the states in December. Her parents and sister also live in the US. She thought because this is a new country that it would be better for her to move closer to her parents, and get adjusted that way. Well that hasnt helped us at all.( Spends all her time with her parents ) Now she wants a divorce. She hasnt adjusted status yet. I try to explain to her if we divorce then she will have to leave. She then says that we should just seperate and adjust her status and then when its approved get divorced. First of all Im not going to do that. Im done throwing money away. My main concern is the kid. I want to get divorced now, but what will happen to the kid. I dont want her to leave! She is my life! If my wife takes her I back to Peru then I know I will never see her. The child has dual nationality. So what are my rights? Can she stay with me? Also when I file for divorce, can I sue her for all the money spent on the petition? Plane tickets etc....

first of all your baby girl is an american citizen now she can't leave the country without your permission and as caution precedure you have to call the state department and inform them by your girl name this way no body can take your little girl out side america .second of all if you divorced her now you will have full custdoy cause you the american one and according to the american laws the custdy goes to the american parent so it is all good and there is nothing to worry about it if you need any further advise let me know good luck

  3. Hi all,

After two weeks I emailed the consulate about my case, they still didn't reply to me yet. I dont no why it take them so long to reply. Should I email them again or keep waiting. When I emailed them I put my name, my wife name and our case number begin with EAC XXXXXXX. Is this the correct format when you email the consulate?

    Thanks

keep sending e-mails to them until u hear from them good luck

  5. This is my friend's situation:

About 5 years ago, his mother (green card holder) filed for immigrant visa for him to come to the US. He got tired of waiting and came here on a student visa. He is going to school now. Last month, the scheduled an interview for him in him home country in Palestine; Jerusalem embassy in May of this year. Problem is he doesn't have enough money to go back home and he doesn't want to go home anyway. The questions are:

    1. Can he change the interview so can be interviewed in the US instead? How?

    2. If he can't change the interview, can he reschedule? How?

    3. What happens if he doesn't go to the interview and files another application to start over but within the US?

Please Please advise. He doesn't have a lot of time.

    THANK YOU in advance.

he can have his interview with uscis office in his area all you need to do just inform the nvc that so they can transfere his file to uscis office instead . it is simple

  7. As usual, I'm way ahead of myself but have a question for those who've walked this path.

The DS320 asks if you want to apply for the SSN etc. So if one checks that does that mean then that once you cross over the border and have immigrated that an SSN is generated automatically and will be sent to your address - if so how long does that take? I know that people have applied for the SSN's once arriving. Does the immigrant have to go to the SSN office to do anything if the DS230 SSN section is checked off or??

    Thanks.

what suppose to happen regarding this matter the uscia should inform the SSN office to issue you a card but most the time it doesnt happn. so you better apply on your own and dont rely on them you have to go to the SSN and apply there good luck

  8. we recieved a letter on march 8rd stating that they refused our visa because they feel our marriage is not real & that its out of convenience for the beneficiary to obtain a visa to come to the US. Someone help me.. This is totally not true. Our marriage is very real and we are very much in love.. We gave them so much proof, if they had any doubts, why couldnt they just ask us for more info or evidence instead of denying us like that!!??? they returned all my hubbys paperwork to him thru dhl including his passport. we are so devastated. SOMEONE HELP!!!

all u can do at maintime send an e-mail to the consular section requesting from them kindly if they may consider reviewing your case again or you may wait untill the uscis contact you regarding the petition revoke then you can submite more evidence to proof your marriage is genioune good luck and god be with u

p.s try to get in touch with your congressman ask him to intercede

  9. Hi Jonathan

you can e-mail them but usually they have pre written reply and they just copy paste and reply

which says "your case is still pending under AP and we will contact you as soon as we are done bla bla bla

i emailed them few times and i got the same reply each time, then i asked them if they can be more specific and i think whoever replied was nice and they gave me little bit more info but not to my satisfaction

ONCE U E-MAIL THEM THE CONSULAR SECTION WILL KEEP U POSTED BY THE NEW DEVELOPMENTS REGARDING YOUR CASE GOOD LUCK

  10. My hubby and I met online and we been talking for 2 years over internet. and then decided to get married. He flew here and got married. In short we met once and its on our wedding day. He spent here 2 weeks. And now he cant be have a vacation because he will be fire if he will. Their company is really strict. He can have a vacation on july and nov.

On interview the consul will ask how many times he visited you or how many times he come here. If I tell them we met once and it was our wedding Do you think it will cause a problem? They can denied me???

    Please help

    Thanks in advance! :help:

Nothing to worry about it . your case seems fine in case the consular asked you how many time u guys been together just explain this point to him good luck

  11. I need help if someone can give me an answer I would really appreciate it. Here is my situation. I live in the US. Next year I am planning to marry my girlfriend that live in Vietnam. But right now her aunt that lives in Canada is filing for her to go to Canada for work. She gets to stay in Canada to work for 2 years if she get the working visa. While she is in Canada will it be easier for me to file for her to come over to the US??? If I can file for her while she is in Canada, how will I do it? Has anyone ever seen a situation like this? I know that if she is in Vietnam I can file k-3 or cr-1 once we get married, but if she is in Canada on working visa, how will I do it???? Thanks to whoever can answer my question.

it doesnt matter where she lives the precedures are the same good luck

  12. My fiance went for his interview on 02162010. He was approved he got a slip to pick up his visa on the 12th of March. He unfortunately did not get it. i called the consulate and a lady at the Accra consulate told me he is on Adminstrative processing and they will call him tomorrow. I really don't understand the whole thing. i asked if they need anything and she said no.. I am too through!

there is nothing to worry about it . it is just typical precedure and it is just matter of time before your fiance get his visa .GOOD LUCK

  13. I filled out my husband's DS-230 forms. I fedexed page 2 to him (in Dominica) to sign and send back to me with all the necessary civil documents. There's a question on page 2 that asks " In what occupation do you intend to work in the United States?"

In my opinion, they're just asking for what you think you may do for work in the United States. I gave more than one occupation. I put police officer, firefighter , and WAPA* employee.

*WAPA is the big plant on my island that provides power and public water for the US Virgin Islands and it's located on the island that we will be living on.

When my husband read that I put WAPA employee on the form, he asked me why and said it would look suspicious because he has no experience in the field.

I told him that it was nothing to fret over because you don't have to have experience in the majority in the fields in WAPA.I also said that what I listed were just possibilities. You don't have to commit to any of them.

Who's right here? Did I do something wrong?

it is not a big deal seriously usually consulars doesnt pay attention to this part trust me . so there is nothing to worry about it

  14. there's nothing you can do for now but to wait until the review is done , but also you can call the visa unit to ask the update of your case .

actually , no one knows how much does it take as it depends on the consular officer and your case and if they are busy or not .

isA your visa will be issued soon :) best of luck and keep us updated

Hey dude your case pretty much smiliar to my case the good news the officer final sounds promising you will get your visa it is just typical precesure it could takes weeks or months mine took 3 months before the consular compeleted all the actions on my case and i used to get the same reply for 3 months so be patient and it is all good . good luck

  15. In 2002, my ex-wife came over on a K1 Visa. Now fast forward nearly 8 years.. My ex and i were married for 6 years, now i have remarried my chinese wife. Is having a K1 over 8 years ago a concern, or a Red Flag ? My wife knows all about the ex-wife, but is very worried now that she will not get her CR1 visa, on top of that she is 8 weeks pregnant. I hope there are comforting words to be read..

    Dan

you have the right to be concern this is a red flag all you can do now provide them with relationship evidence in order to cover this GAP also since your wife pragent this may works for your interest good luck

  16. Hi guys!

I had my interview 22nd Feb at the USE in London. It lasted three minutes , I was told the visa was approved, and that I would get my passport back within a week. I received a pink slip, I paid for delivery. By 11th March still no passport, I call the embassy, they tell me that my application was suspended the very next day, 23rd Feb. They tell me to email the consular section for more information, which I do.

In the meantime, I call the DOS. The lady is very helpful, says that the interview was 'gooooooood' (her emphasis), that everything is fine, that's it's normal processing, and that I can call back anytime for more information, especially as they probably have more info than the embassy.

A few hours later I get an email back from the embassy saying:

Your application is subject to additional administrative processing, which is mandatory and cannot be waived.

Today (12th March) I call back the DOS, and this time I get a very unhelpful woman. She states over and over again that I should call the embassy, not them, then she realises that I spoke to her colleague the previous day, and says why are you calling again???? Try explaining that after I spoke to her I got that email, and the lady herself said I could call back whenever I wanted etc. The woman got very annoyed, and ended the conversation...although I did manage to get from her that the latest status on my case was updated on 22nd Feb and that it was pending. I call the embassy again, as the not-so-nice woman at the DOS suggested, and the poor man said I wish I could help, but I honestly have no information.

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but is this the dreaded AP?? Is it normal checks, as the DOS claim, or is my case being subjected to further scrutiny? And yes, I'm British from birth, and I live in the UK.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated - thanks :)

well sir it is all good and their nothing to worry about it . actually it is rare to be an British and become subject for administration process but these days you never know any way it is a typical procedure and it matter of time before u get your visa good luck

  17. how to check the status to the NVC to know if the embassy already recieved the packet?

How do you know when you can have the schedule for interview?

once the american embassy receive your file from the nvc the consular will review the whole paper work and send you a package to complete once you complete this package and send it back to embassy they will review it again in case if there any thing missing then will send you a letter to inform you by your appointment good luck

  18. Hey VJ peeps,

Here's a little history on my husband (beneficiary) and I (petitioner).

He's from Dominica and I'm a USC living in US Virgin Islands.

    • 1)Became officially BF & GF March 2007.
      2)Engaged Jan 13, 2008.
      3)Married May 22,2008.
      4)Our son was born Jan. 4, 2009.

I just wanted to show (well not literally) you guys what we planned on presenting as proof of a bonafide marriage.

    • Marriage Certificate (duh)
      hi5 messages from 2008
      FB messages from 2008
Affidavit from my mom (saying that we've been together from 2007, we are always talking on the phone, communicating basically everyday 2-3 times a day, our marriage is real, etc.)
Affidavit from a witness at the civil wedding (either his mom, dad, sister, or the judge) *No wedding pics. No camera*
2 Pics of my husband and I in 2007 (no time stamp)
Pictures of my husband, son, and myself in Dominica with all of his family (OOdles of pictures)
Wire transfers (showing that he's been financially supporting his son from Jan '09 to present)
1 Letter he sent me in 2008 (with some old pictures of him)
Receipts of fed exes that we've sent each other
2 Flight Itineraries From USVI to Dominica(1 before I had my son, 1 when I had my son)
AND THE FACT THAT WE HAVE A 14MNTH OLD SON TOGETHER

We don't have a significant amount of phone records because we either used phone cards or the MAGIC JACK thingy. (Also because it'll be a pain in the but to get records from 2008 now). I mean who thinks at the time when they're dating someone that "all of these messages are gonna be important let's save them".

Is this enough proof you think? Do you see any problems with this?

since you guys have a son together I dont think the consular would be interested to see those proofs so it is all good . good luck

  20. Just when I thought it was over. My fiance got his passport back yesterday (Monday in India's time zone) with a 3rd 221 for Administrative Processing. So, my fiance called the consulate immediately and finally got through. They told him to not to worry that our file is just pending AP. That they do not need anymore documents nd our file is complete. Just to wait for them to send a letter to him to submit the passport again once they have finished the AP. The caseworker that is helping us from our congressmens office was out today. So, I guess just more waiting which is getting really frustrating now.

    Star

I am so sorry cause your case being subject for administration process but there is nothing to worry about it . it is just typical precesure also matter of time so be patient

  21. I filed an affidavit of support for my wife in 2009 and she is yet to remove the condition on her green card. A friend want me to help him co file for his parents. My question is will it affect my wife's immigration process( removal of condition) and what are my liability to my friends parents if i file for them?

Ps My income is enough to file for all of them.

you may go ahead and sponsor your friend parents it wont affect your wife status at all good luck

  22. My fiancee lives in the Philippines. She went for her interview at the U. S. Embassy in Manila. The interviewer was courteous. There were no problems.

She received her new passport in 5 days after the interview, just as the Consular Officer said would be done. Here is the problem: The Visa issue date is March 2, 2010. The expiration date is May 11, 2010 (60 DAYS). K-1 Visas are valid for 6 months, allowing a person one entry to the USA "within six months from the issuance date."

When my fiancee told me about this today, I decided it was time to do more than merely contacting the USICS. Being that this is the weekend, with offices closed, I wrote to my Senator and Congressman disclosing full details about the "process" and what, hopefully, was just a "clerical error."

My fiancee went to Manila back in December, 2009 for her physical at St. Luke's Hospital. She was to be scheduled for an interview. Instead, after completing her physical, she was told that she would have to return in February, 2010 (TWO MONTHS LATER) for the test results. About 200 other people were told the same thing the same day.

My fiancee is a Registered Nurse, who works in the operating room. She informed me that at her hospital, it takes 1 week to receive the results of "cultures" taken, not 2 months.

While my fiancee and many other people took their physicals, all of the patients noticed that none of the St. Luke Hospital doctors, nurses and all other staff members were wearing name tags. There were no name plates at any of the office desks. My fiancee and all other people taking their physicals never knew the names of any of the hospital staff. It was like ALL hospital staff wanted to remain anonymous.

It was not just St. Luke's Hospital in Manila where all staff did not wear name tags. The staff in the U. S. Consular Section at the emabassy also do not wear name tags. There are no name plates on any of the office desks. My fiancee does not know the name of the Consular Officer who interviewed her.

Has anyone's fiancee had this same experience? If so, please let us know what you did to correct the problem.

    Thanks.

6 months after the issuing date
