  1. Thanks so much! Gotta say I'm a bit nervous... but we did a practice interview, we made sure we had all the documents, we triple-checked everything - ON TO VICTORY!

(we're still going to be a bit delayed by extra documents needed after the medical, unfortunately, but I'll be happier once we have the interview out of the way!)

You guys will ace it, piece of cake! Good luck, we're all rootin' for you.

My fiance arrives on Wednesday! Yeah! :)

  2. Hi everyone. How are things going for the rest of the Octoberians? My fiance finally received her visa earlier this week (they took a week and a half to get it mailed!). She's flying here on April 7th. Nerve-wracking process this was!

Good news is I just passed the Foreign Service exam, so perhaps I'll be experiencing all of this from the other side one day soon! Having gone through it myself, it will certainly leave a sense of humility with me if I get hired. :-)

  3. Hey everybody !

I didn't think that one day I would tell this kinda story... A friend of mine just sent me an email saying that she is engaged ! She was already engaged at the beginning of the year with another guy who got cold feet at the end... It is obvious that she wants to get married to get a GC which makes me sick in my stomach ! I know how it was difficult for my husband and I to live the immigration (K1) process and to be apart from each other. I know how it is difficult for all of us who are really in love to live far away waiting for the immigration to check our past and incomes and pictures etc... I know that she will get back to her country (she is in the US on a waiver right now) and she will comeback in a couple months to get married and adjust status... I am not the kind a person to call the immigration to report somebody who never did something bad to me, but I really want to stop her cuz' this is because of this kind of person that the USCIS takes so long to process real cases. By real I mean 2 people in love who want to live their lives together...

Have a great day, and give me your advices if you have some.

I know it makes as all fume when people try to manipulate the system, but I would just let things play out. If they really are faking their marriage, DPHS or DOS might catch it. If this person is your friend, I would recommend confronting them about this and tell them just what you wrote here on the forum ... that this kind of business makes it harder for those of us who are in love and trying to get through this process. Don't go behind their back, though, that's not cool. Besides, this person needs to be confronted by someone who's opinion carries weight. If they choose to go on with this, then it's on their conscience and hopefully they'll be found out by the authorities.

  4. HELLO EVERYONE........ :crying::angry: IM MAD SAD CUZ LIKE I SAID THE USCIS FORGOT TO SENT OUR CASE TO THE NVC THAT WAS JANUARY 26 AND THEN THE CONGRESSMAN ACT, THEY APPROVED AGAIN OUR CASE MARCH 9 AND NOW NVC DOESN'T HAVE OUR CASE AGAIN.... THIS IS HELL, WE ARE CALLING AGAIN AND ANYONE SAY SOMETHING THIS IS SO FRUSTRATED..... WHAT CAN WE DO..... JESUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I'm so sorry to hear that. That is incredibly frustrating! I think you're doing the right thing by contacting your congressman, and that's a good suggestion to see if you can meet with a USCIS officer about this. It's so unfair to allow people to wait endlessly like this!

  5. My fiance' has an interview date! I called on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 4 p.m. on a whim thinking, well, back in Jan. they assigned some interview dates. Gave the woman (Lois) the beneficiary's name and birthdate and asked if an interview date had a been assigned. Lo and behold his interview date at Montreal consulate is May 3, 2010! It is a whole 6 weeks earlier than I expected! It is great to know though so we can start making plans for his moving here and such. I am so excited, relieved, and grateful! Hallelujah!

Congrats! It really does make waiting a bit easier when you have a date to wait for. A lot better than the USCIS portion where it can take anywhere from 1 month to 5 or more! Glad things are moving along for you, and best of luck to you. :D

Thank you all sooo much!!! I def. think it was the congressman's office that got my officer to move on the case. THANK YOU EVERYONE for the support!! : )

That was one long wait! Congratulations, and hope the rest of the process goes more smoothly for you. :)

  6. Hi all.

Well K1 was approved on March 1st 2010. Reading other November 09 K1 filers of similiar dates and approvals. Lots have gone through

the NVC in days. I rang them today and yes they have the case and yes I got the case number but it seems stuck

    with additional processing.

They Counldnt tell me why. So am a wee bit worried.

Anybody any suggestions why. I hope it is nothing serious.

It's so hard to say, because additional processing can be something that takes a couple days or as long as a couple months. I would say that it seems to be a rare few who have to wait for such an excessive period. I called and they told me mine was in additional processing, but then it got shipped out about two days later. Hang in there, and keep calling and asking them if they can give you an idea of when it's going to be forwarded on. They'll generally tell you if it's getting close...

  7. VISA APPROVED!!! It's the craziest thing, too, because they said they didn't even need my co-sponsor's financial info because mine was enough. I guess it's because every consulate interprets the rules a little differently. I put my children down as partially dependent on me because they don't live with me and my ex-wife has sole custody, so maybe they didn't count them as household members. Whatever, I'm just super excited!

Thanks for your company everyone, this has been great to be part of this community. Good luck to everyone with an upcoming interview, although I know you'll all have great results! :-)

  8. My fiancee's visa interview appointment is in a little over an hour. I'm so nervous I can hardly stand it, and she's even more nervous than I am. We both know everything's probably going to be okay, but it's tough to know that our fate lies in the stroke of a pen! We've already bought plane tickets and everything, so we're both hoping everything goes smoothly, and that we haven't missed anything. Breathe, breathe... :o

  9. Wow. Makes our problems in the west seem small by comparison... On the other hand, it also makes you realize just how easily an entire population can be led to believe something as inhumane as the treatment of most women in Afghanistan through culture manipulation...just like Americans seem to believe health care is supposed to work the way it does (being given a large bill after a stay at the hospital ... that's f**ked up too). Just the same, I'm thankful that we at least have the wherewithal to complain!

  10. So it has been really nice to read how fast some peoples approval came from the California center. I will be filing there hopefully in April or May. I sure hope it's as speedy as everyone else has been :) Any advice on what is that best way to send, USPS or UPS...any other delivery services that will get it there sooner? does it matter? Thanks everyone!

UPS will rip you off. USPS is the best way to go. I'd just send it regular mail, because starting it sooner doesn't necessarily get you processed any faster. I ended up getting processed almost a month later than most of the other people who filed at the same time I did. The best way to get your petition adjudicated quickly is to make sure you've prepared everything as thoroughly as possible according to the info available on this website. Looks like the CSC is processing faster than before, so you might be lucky enough to get your NOA2 in a little over two months. Good luck!

  11. Hi Guys!

Just dropped by to share the great news - WE GOT APPROVED!!! YAY!!!

The actual interview by the consul took literally 5 minutes! We also requested to pick up the visa instead of having it delivered - we got the call the following day and picked it up yesterday!

I'll post a more detailed review of the interview soon...

Best of luck to those who are about to have their interview!

Thanks to all of you! - for all the support and prayers!

Congratulations, that's excellent news! I'm so happy that you've gotten through to the happy ending of this grueling process. I wish you both the best of luck starting your new life in the US! :)

We're up tomorrow, so hoping all will go well. My fiancee of course is feeling pretty nervous, but we've done everything we can to prepare, so it's all left to fate now.

  12. Congratulations on getting that pink slip! - And welcome to the awesome Octoberian thread...

My fiancee's interview is next week, March 15 and I will be flying to manila tomorrow night to support her on ther interview... we are both very very excited, but at the same time, a little too anxious whether i have everyting we need in my expandable plastic envelope that i will be hand carrying for 16 hours... oh, did i mention it weighs about 12 lbs?!?! LOL

Sounds like you are well prepared for the interview! I'm more than willing to bet it'll go smooth as silk. I wonder if they'll even thumb through all of those files, ha ha. Certainly better to be prepared than to come up short, though, so you're more than well-covered.

I sent all of my stuff to my fiancee last week. I didn't send nearly as much as you did, but I think I sent enough. Copies of emails, chat logs and pics for the evidence. I'm using a co-signer for the Affidavit of Support, and I'm hoping that is going to be okay. It's a bit nerve-wracking, but we're both optimistic and planning for every contingency! I know, I know, I probable think too much...

  13. Sorry to hear about Cecilia, Gary, I know you must be going through a really tough time right now. Thoughts and prayers are with you, and hope you receive some good news soon.

Leenie, congrats to you, I know that the moment when that question is popped is so important. It's really a way of making that commitment in a way that touches your hearts, and prepares you to say "I do" on the big day!

My fiancee was just assigned her interview date, which will be March 19th. I'm so glad Taiwan's consulate is as fast as they are, considering the delays our petition had. We're both hoping things will go smoothly, especially since I've enlisted a relative's help for my Affidavit of Support. I'm sure it'll be fine, though!

  14. YAAAAAYYYYYY!!

I just called the Manila Embassy and got my fiancee's interview scheduled for MARCH 15, 2010!!!:dance::dance:

I can't even describe the joy and excitement I'm feeling right now...

Thanks for all the help and support from y'all - especially to Jhay and Calypso!!!

Best of luck to all the OCTOBERIANS!!!!

A big congratulations to you! Did you get the packet 3 before you scheduled the interview, or did you just call direct and schedule it?

  15. I just called the NVC today and was told my case is in additional processing. Now I'm really bummed, as I was expecting to see my sweetheart next month. Looks like the wait for AP is anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months. And the worst part is that there seems to be no real way to find out how long it's going to take, so I'm just left waiting. *sigh*
