  1. No. The VJ timeline IS an average of the tiny amount of VJ members (compared to the overall visas processed, (and even then only the members that report) It is an average of a tiny sampling. Like asking 1026 voters who they will vote for, only VJs poll is not scientific.

The governments numbers are NOT averages at all. Nothing of the sort. "6 months" is the party line. They answer that for everything. ask them about an AOS..."6 months". Ask them their favorite ice cream flavor...6 months. It is a meaningless, pre-recorded answer.

The "timelines" they publish quote the OLDEST case of that type in the system. It is in no way an average, it is "worst case" (unless YOU become the NEW worst case, your petition will go faster)

Bottom line? They have the petitions, they process them, you wait. Do not make any plans until the visa is in your fiancee's hand.

FWIW getting the visa is the easy part, and it is but 1/3 of the journey, maybe 1/4. It is a long term thing and this is just the start. You will be dealing with the USCIS for a long time. Settle in.

Thanks for sharing the info. I guess I am pretty close to being the worst case? next Monday marks the 6 months from NOA1.

You seem pretty knowledge in this area. My worry comes from the fact that that my case is rather atypical. would be nice to share some insights - I can send a separate message if you are willing.

  2. I filed my I-129K on Dec 7 2009. Called the USCIS today to find out what the Status is. They said it takes 6 months from submission to approval. On this site under Processing Time, the average time for CSC shows 63 days. Which is right?

I want to make sure my expectation is set. I called USCIS about 1.5 months ago and they said my application is about 21 days away from being processed, but I have not seen any update so far. Can someone shed some light?

  3. Expect to wait 150 to 180 days from NOA-1 notice date. Sorry. Nothing to do but to wait.

called their 1-800 numberto check today.

They said they are currently processing petition submitted 21 days ahead of me. So apparently it's not behind

the average processing on this site shows 59 day instead of 150. Where did you get this number?

Chris, it sounds like yours isn't late and should be processed soon. Good luck to all of us

  4. Nothing to do Dot except sit back and wait. At least you went through CSC so it could be as fast as 45 days.

You might want to start looking through Packet 3 on your US Embassy/Consulate web site to help pass the time.

She did not get approval in March.

She submitted her petition in March. She got receipt that her petition arrived. That is NOA1 in March.

After NOA1, receiving the petition, you wait for NOA2 which is hopefully approval.

thanks for the clarification. my NOA1 was dated 12/8/09. So it's been over 120 days and well over twice the "average" processing time.

what could cause such a delay? Could there have been RFE that got lost in the mail? I don't think that's the case. Otherwise my online status would say something other than "Initial Review," no?

  5. I-797C if the noa1.. did you check your status online? https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do

Yes, the online status says "Initial Review"

I'm confused. I got the NOA1, how does the I-797C look like? Well I got mine in March so you guys have been longer. I'm not sure what I should do at this point to ensure a speedy process.

I-797C is a one page doc with the receipt number and "Notice Type" says "Receipt Notice."

Dot, when did you submit your petition before getting your approval in March?

  6. Hello,

I am definately feeling your pain too. I also sent in my 129F back on Nov 30 and it was received in on the first week of Dec 2009. Since I got my NOA1 way back then I have not heard anything and the status is "initial review" as well. I am not sure why I haven't received my NOA2 yet either. I can only hope that any day now that it comes in the mail. I sent mine into the VSC and many other people from the same week are getting their interviews already. :( Good luck, I will wait a little longer and then put a call in to see what's up.

    Chris

Is I-797C same as NOA1?? I must have been grossly mistaken. I did not realize I-797C is the NOA1?! It sounds your and mine are taking longer than usual for NOA1 to NOA2. Is anyone else in the same boat?

  7. Hello,

I've submitted my 129F K1 back in December of 2009. I received I-797C shortly after that, but I have not received my NOA1 yet? It has been more than 4 months, which is considerably longer than ~70 days showing for CSC. I have been waiting patiently hoping no news is good news. Is anyone else waiting longer than usual like I am?

I checked the online status and it still says "initial review" and I am guessing making the online state update isn't their first priority.

Is anyone experiencing similar wait time? I plan to call their 1-800 to find out what's going on...

    Any insight would be helpful.

  8. Hello,

Since you mentioned that you are filing the I-129F, I assume you are filing for a K-1 visa? I see "Naturalization" in your profile info. If you are doing a K-1, then you only need to submit copies of evidence for your I-129F. That is, submit a copy (front and back) of your Certificate of Naturalization. I hope this helps. Please do let us know what visa you are filing for.

    bump

    any thoughts?

Yes, it is for K-1 visa. In this case, they wouldn't ask for the original during the process? I should be getting the original back once the passport is renewed.

  9. My apologies if this topic has been discussed somewhere. My search didn't bring anything up.

Do you have any recommendation on how to put all documentation together? Hard bound binder with tabs? Stapling is frawned upon in general? Do you puncture the holes on the side of docs to keep everything nice and organized?

Did you put the photos in a plastic bag or glued them to blank paper?

Sorry for so many question. Just looking for best practice to make things easy for the individuals reviewing the application.

    Any tips are appreciated

  10. Hello,

I am almost done with completing the documents for I-129F submission. I am including my Certificate of Naturalization. In the mean time, I am renewing my US passport because it was stolen. To renew stolen/missing passport, I have to submit the original certificate of natualization, not a copy of it.

My question is do they ever ask for the original certificate of naturalization during I-129F process? I want to make sure this isn't the case before I hand over the original for several weeks until the new passport is issued. And yes I've made several backup copies just in case.

  11. thanks for the replies...

I got into a car accident while I was in Korea this fall and was checked into hospital. I asked them to send me the record of it. In addition as Sundrop noted, I found the luggage tag for my flight back from Narita to Seattle. It shows the flight number that matches the information on itinerary and the Trip Summary and Receipt.

I am not going back to see her anytime soon. Is what I have enough or am I risking here? Btw, what does RFE stand for? I take it's a rejection of some sort. sorry for my ignorance.

  12. Hello,

I am a new beginner with K-1 process and collecting the documentation to send.

To prove we met in last two years, I wanted to send the copy of my password with stamp. However, my passport was stolen and I didn't keep my boarding pass or copy of plane ticket.

I found my credit card statement showing the travel agency charging the plane tickets and a copy of itinerary email.

Is there any other way to substitute for the passport stamp or boarding pass to prove? I do have the photo's I took with her.

    Any advice is appreciated.

Credit card charges and itineraries are not proof of travel. Do you have any charges incurred in the country you traveled to? Any other receipts from in the country? What about photos which documtn you are in the country? You need primary (travel evidnce) and secondary (photos) for proof of meeting. These must be from prior to submitting the petition. If you cannot provide this you risk being denied and losing your petition fee.

If you booked the flight through a travel agency, perhaps they can provide some proof of travel. This will need to be something that you actually boarded the plane and flew to that destination.

I have the Trip Summary and Receipt from NWA showing my eticket number and the confirmation number. It shows that all 4 flights (Seattle to Japan to Korea and back) as Status of "Used" I also have a receipt of things I bought at Narita Airport (Japan) at the Duty shop. However the transaction is by cash. Are these enough?

it all depends , what airline did you fly with log into there page and see you there is a record of your ticket

Yes, I have the record of the ticket from nwa.com and have a copy of it based on my confirmation #. I am just trying to see if there's any other evidence I can collect to make my application stronger.
