  1. Try contacting the FBI to see if the fingerprints were sent successfully to the USCIS electronically. The number is 304-625-5590. I am not sure if you have an A number, but I know that you usually need that information along with date of birth, etc. for them to give you just that info. Give them a call and see what they tell you.

    All the best to you.

Thanks the phone #. Unfortunately that phone number references another phone number to call, now that they do not answer inquiries to FBI/USCIS phone numbers. Of course the calling the number that they leave on the message, it also leaves a message saying phone inquiries are no longer answered, and to go to www.fbi.gov . I will continue on to the third biometrics and try to get an answer at the service center.

Thanks for the help. If anyone else experiences this please let me know if you learned anything

  2. After submitting our package for AOS, everything has been moving as expected and smooth. First we got the appointment to the Alexandria VA support office for biometrics, the we got the work permission and parole paper work later. We got the biometrics done, and were surprised to see a second letter to return to the same service center. We returned and took the finger prints again, and left after a quick visit. and NOW We just got our 3rd appointment letter 4 days after we completed the second appointment. The third letter was dated mailed before we had even completed the 2nd appointment, and the "notice date" (upper right box) was before we completed the 2nd appoint, and the other oddity is that the 3rd letter does not contain our application number or the "MSCXXXXXXXXXX" barcode at the bottom.

Does anyone know what is going on?

We plan on going for attempt #3, but this seems unusual..

A phone call to the 1-800-375-5283 was absolutely worthless..

  3. My fiance just crossed the boarder 5 days ago. To pursue our parole ASAP we figured we would go down and get the Marrige licence this week or next and get married. Then do the SSN afterwards. Should we wait and get the SSN prior to the Marrige licence? What are the implications of not getting her SSN before the wedding licence / wedding certificate? Thanks in advanced

  4. I can't seem to dig up an old post, but my Fiance is trying to get the medical and the interview done on the same trip to Montreal. She is being told by the medical she needs to complete the physical 4 days before the Consulate interview. Is it possible to shrink that time between interview and physical and send in the results of the medical "post" interview? Or is it best to just do the physical, sit around in Montreal for 4 days then interview?

Suggestions? Anyone with previous experiences here?

    Thanks

    Trevor

  5. You did it right, no worries. Apparently, the original intent was for the DS 160 to replace the DS 156, but after more than a year that change hasn't come into effect. For some reason they still want you to fill out both despite the questions being almost identical.

thank you both for the information. Very helpful

  6. We are going through the packet 3 requirements and proceeding to send in the required forms. As we started to do the DS-160 we noticed it seems to be a smooth online system, we got done and got a nice confirmation with digital passport photo and bar code. Seemed straight forward

We did the online DS-156 form online and it seemed like we did exactly the same stuff twice, got another pdf with barcode.

So did we do this same thing twice accidently, or did we do the right thing and it just happens to be very similar

pictures attached to show the different "online" systems we used? any one do all this?

    Thanks

  7. I did check theworknumber.com with the DoD account, and I could not find an immigration verification "option". No suprise. So I went to the DoD human resourses department and they wrote me a letter with the I-134 requirements and signed it. They didn't seem to know what I meant by "company stationary", so they printed the DoD logo and address on the letterhead on thick colored paper. Phone #s and contacts were listed and signed by HR. If this sounds like a flag / or not legit enough to anyone let me know.

So i guess for future reference, I suggest that DoD employees go to HR rather than even mess with the online verification known as the workplace.com

  8. Was wondering if anyone here was able to use the www.theworknumber.com and a legit verification for employment and income. I am actually Employed by US Government as a Dept of Defense Engineer and this is the system the US Gov (my agency) is telling me to use. I can't wait for my gov agency to be rejected by another government agency (sarcasm)...

    Any updates would be helpful..

  9. Based on Current timelines for Montreal...this may not be as bad as you think. If you return packet 3 just after the new year (that's in about 6 weeks), you should be looking at a March or April interview. Traveling across the boarder with a pending Visa application, was never an issue for me...most CBP's are satisfied to see that you guys did it the right way. I never had any problems. If you should happen to be scheduled for an interview prior to your cruise, you can email Montreal and ask for it to be rescheduled for the next month...if they do reschedule you, just be prepared, as it could put you back to May or even June...if you guys are ok with this...then you should be fine.

I say just let the process ride, and see where you end up. I had my interview scheduled for April 2009, and when we inquired for a reschedule, we were told it could be May or June.

I would just try and submit the Packet 3 after the new year....

Good luck, and I think it will all work in your favour :) And enjoy your trip, it sounds lovely!

Thanks poprocks. Thats exactly what i was hoping to hear. Ill let everyone know how it turns out. She actually received packet 3 today (thanksgiving 09). We plan on submitting after the new year and hope that the interview is in April. If not we will cancel the cruise and do it another time.

  10. It actually is normal to get approved quick, I got my petition approved in 21 days, congrats on your speedy approval, as per delaying the packet 3 maybe someone whos is going thru K-1 could inform u properly, but the way Montreal is setting their interview u might have to wait 2 to 3 month for an interview.

    Wish u all the best!

Thanks for the info. I'm still confused about the quick process. If this site, and the US Gov site both advertise an 100+ day average for NOA1 to NOA2 why would a 11 day process be "normal"? Have i been mis reading the process averages?

Thanks for the info on Montreal. Im probably the only person who has ever asked to slow down the process.

  11. My Canadian Fiance and I were shocked to find that our NOA2 was approved in 11 days. As I am sure anyone on this site can relate, this entire process greatly impacts your ability to plan for future events/ vacations/ and travel. I was hoping some of you more experienced VJ'ers could give me some advise.

Our original "plan" was to submit K1, and during the "avg processing wait" we would enjoy the holidays together in the US, and go on a family cruise in March 2010. My finance is now expecting her Packet 3 to be delivered any day now, and has delayed her US travel plans until she gets it.

    So my questions:

    1. Is there anything in Packet 3 that should keep my Candain Fiance in Canada (for the next month) such as the physical date? Does she schedule her own physical, does the embassy schedule it? or dose she get that in Packet 4?

    2. What are the repercusions of "delaying" the Packet 3 return, by simply holding on to it for 30 days before returning it so that we can enjoy xmas and new years, then send it back to the emabassy when she returns to Canada soon after new years?

    3. Can I delay the Packet 3 or the interview process long enough so that I can "push" the interview until after March 2010 (assuming its about Dec 2009 when she recieves packet 3) and be able to take our mexican cruise without dealing with the Advance Parole process, which we will probably not have time to complete in this small window anyway.

Any insight or thoughts would be great. Thanks in advanced.
