Recieved a "Welcome to the United States" letter this weekend! Awesome.

We had our interview today and were approved! It was quick and painless. I spent much more time worrying about collecting documents etc. than was necessary. Full report coming soon.

I got two e-mails--one on 12/22 saying the EAD and AP had been approved. And then another today saying they mailed me a notice that the EAD was approved on 12/28. But I already have the EAD and AP in my hot little hands. They arrived sometime over the Christmas break.

EAD and AP arrived sometime during the holidays... My guess is probably the 28 or the 29 of December.

My EAD and AP were approved yesterday! SO AWESOME! I couldn't believe it when I recieved the e-mail. I'll let you all know as soon as the cards arrive.

Dear all--I've got a pending AOS application and am planning to travel over the Christmas holiday. I don't yet have AP approved, but even if I did I wouldn't use it because I also have a valid H1B visa until next summer. As I understand it, I can travel under my H1B status until it expires without having my AOS application be considered abandoned. I am planning to bring a letter from my employer stating that I am currently employed and expected back to work after the holiday, a couple of recent paystubs, and a business card. What else do I need to bring? Anyone have any tips?

I finally, finally got a biometrics letter yesterday... WOHOOO!!! Only problem was that the appointment was for 12/27 at 8am... when I'm going to be away visiting family for Christmas... So I tried a walk-in today and it was successful. The local office (Alexandria, VA) didn't care at all when my appointment was.

Can you please help me by linking it for me. I can't find it on the website. Thanks soo much.

I am worried as well. I still don't have a biometrics letter. My application was sent 10/16!

My forms seem to be stuck in the slow lane. No biometrics notice yet!! GRRRRR....

Make sure your civil surgeon doesn't try and give you any vaccines that aren't REQUIRED. Mine definitley reccomended some that were unncessary and when I called him on it, he said "well I've seen people getting turned away without it." I followed up with questions about what standards he is supposed to be applying and he finally agreed that I didn't NEED a certain vaccine. Honestly, I was fuming. Why would they try and give people unnecessary vaccines? Seemed like a money making scheme. If you get only what's needed, that should keep costs lower.

As for your evidence of a marriage, I'd certainly make sure you get some good stuff. Marriage license, obviously. Include photos of you together showing the progression of your relationship. Joint health insurance, joint bank account, joint auto insurance. Sworn affidaivats from people who know you both well and know your marriage to be valid.

So weird. You'd think that'd be the easy part. I've called over three times wondering where my biometrics letter is... Was concerned that they had sent it out and I hadn't received it because other VJers seem to get it so fast. Anyway, I think I'm just overly eager. I want evidence that all my hard work on the application packet is not for nothing ;-)

I submitted more evidence of the marriage than you did (wedding invite, joint insurance, enagagement annoucement etc.) but otherwise it all looks great.

YAY! Glad your biometrics appointment was smooth. And glad to see your timeline--it is making me feel better that my letter still didn't arrive! You guys had to wait quite awhile for the same office...

How long should it take to get the biometrics appointment? Mine still hasn't arrived and I'm starting to wonder...

I used http://www.epassportphoto.com/ to do mine and so far they've been perfect. And it was virtually free! Just the cost of the 4x6 photo print out at my local Ritz Camera.

I am an October filer as well. I really, really hope this goes smoothly and quickly. I think my package was in pretty good shape!
