@ Yna, Lebanese_gurl, Raymon, Twulf, Samkunle, and the rest of my family here.....
I FINALLY GOT A HOLD OF NVC--- i was sooo relieved with the questions that is been running throuhg my head for the past years. for my step-son's issue that i made an honest error, all i just have to do is to wait till they will contact me in about 4-6 weeks and the operator was telling me that they might be asking for my step-son's birthcertificate and she was saying i should be FINE!
and about my address issue, i can fax them my new physical address to 1-603-334-0071 ATTN: change address
and they can update my file.
thank you all for the advices... i wonder how life would be with you guys....
Congratulations mitch, I'm glad to hear that you've been able to got a hold of the NVC.

hi SAM! when is your family arriving??? just sooo excited for you... what a blessing huh?
i will be calling nvc by heart now.... will try to call every hour whatever it takes... and will try to use all the celphones i can find. i already did finish the letter that i will be sending them but i will follow your (YNA, SAMKUNLE) advices to call nvc first to make sure that i will be doing the right thing... i havent receive any yet but im not "YET" worried since my PDate is 3months later than RAYMON's... so i believe im still ok but as what YNA said, today is the perfect time to call for the corrections... in that way, there will be no delay that i will cause with my own case.... thanks everyone... i owe you guys bigtime!
hi mitch, it's my pleasure. My wife will be picking up the visas on Wednesday and they'll arrive SFO on Sunday. I can't describe the excitement. I am already cleaning up my apartment, getting ready for a family. I've gotten used to living alone for too long

hi mitch just want to add, i guess it is on basis to basis issue... coz when i asked for a request that we will have an additional family member for our family our daughter for the petition they asked us to send only security paper of birth certificate and the copy of approved petition(NOA2) and after a month our daughter's paper is ok and we paid the IV fee. if i were you mitch just try to call and ask them on what to do with your situation in that case they will be the one to tell you on what's best to do...
hope this will help.
p.s.
i have read that you will need a month to call them for your papers indeed that's clever but as i can see to it since you have not received your DS3032 or the choice of agent and the rest of the stuff try fixing the one you told me about what you mistaken with your stepson's paper in that case by the time you receive the good stuff your papers are all ready and you will not request anything for the mistake you made. coz i just realize way before that we should have requested our daughter's paper before we got our DS3032 coz it a month to get our daughter's approval and one month has been wasted while me and my husband could have done it way before when we got our approval of petition.
(just a piece of thought and suggestion based on my experience)
@mitch, I agree with yna. I just want to make this point: I don't exactly remember me telling you that "you should wait 5 months before contacting NVC". What I remember telling you some months ago is that you would probably start receiving documentation from NVC about 5 to 6 months before your PD is current. I also remember suggesting that you should keep an eye on people that have PDs close to yours. And from the look of things, NVC has stepped up, they are contacting people earlier than they used to. So NOW is the time to start getting yourself ready. You don't want to be the cause of any delay on your own case.
I remember offering you the following advice:
1. Type up and send NVC a letter to clarify things about your son/step son. Raymon has reiterated this.
2. Call NVC and talk to an operator to register your email address. NVC prefers email correspondence.
3. Start assembling documents in preparation for when NVC will start sending you correspondence. I had posted a link on this forum that provides information on how to do this.
We are all trying to help each other out on this forum

to be honest, im sooooo happy for the success of the whole, long, tiring, stressful, painful immigration process but part of me is a little sad coz i guess this would be your last post?
pls... come by and say HI onces in a while since we might have some questions that you can relate to... we might have some concerns that you're the best Vjer to ask....
again, congratulations to you SAM and to the rest of the family.. that was a blessing!......."what had God put together, let no man put a sonder" .....
Don't worry mitch, I will definitely come on the forum once in a while. It would not be nice to just abandon you guys. So I'll still be around.

Hello my VJ friends. I have some wonderful news. My wife and son's visas were approved today at the Lagos Consulate in Nigeria. We are so excited and relieved. It's been an extraordinary and long journey as you all can relate to. I want to thank you all for your support and encouragement.
My wife said that the interview went very smoothly. It lasted less than 3 minutes. The consular officer barely asked her any questions. The CO only asked her one question in the form of a statement - "so you and your husband have known each other for a long time?". My wife said "yes, we have known each other for about 10 years now; we met in college". The CO then asked to see pictures. She looked at a few pictures, and that was it. She said "congratulations, your visa has been approved". She asked my wife to pick up the visas next wednesday.
My wife could not believe it. I can't believe it. All of the mountain of evidence that she took with her - email logs, phone records, bank statements, etc were not looked at at all. All praise to God for making this a smooth process. A
My wife will be arriving in San Francisco airport next week Sunday. I can't wait to be reunited with her. The journey has lasted too long, but it's over now. I pray all of you have a smooth visa process too like we did.
Thanks again for all your support!

i havent seen you here for a lone time.. and was thinking maybe you are just contemplating since your wife's interview is just in 2 days...i am just so excited for you... everything is paying off now...
Thanks mitch, you're right. I havent posted for some time, but I've been following what's been going on with everyone. It looks like you should be receiving correspondence from NVC soon. Hang in there.

Hey just reading this now! Jim&Mitchelle!! this is so so surreal!!! u guys made it!!!! i so so elated. congrats guys pls keep us posted with the rest of the interview encounter. I am so so high right now.
Hey Mitch, how has it been? guess the house is really growing, can see lots of new members here now. Don't we have 2 interviews we are looking fwd to, this March? I can only remember one, and that's Samkunle.
Hey, Samkunle hi. Longest time, how is the going? I cant imagine how u guys are feeling right now. Days to go!!!
To the rest of my family out there, let's keep the hope alive.
hi.... i know huh? our family is growing.... i believe someone other that SAM will be interviewed on April... isnt it sweetapple? or i guess pretty09? but SAM is almost there... 15 more days and you will have your family here in the US....days more SAM!!!
Thanks Admire and mitch, you guys are right, about 16 days to go to our interview. It's exciting although, I've been refusing to let myself get too excited until I know for sure that a visa has been issued to her. I hope to be able to share some good news with the house as soon as the interview is over

i believe what they were saying is they waited 7MONTHS from approval till the choice of agent documents will come. since you were just approved then have to wait 7months or sooo (that would be september) till you'll hear another thing from them... im just stating here the worst scenario. but based on our friends' case complete timelines, the whole processing which includes mailing of documents to NVC... the checking... and all... normally will take 3-4 months.... and then another LOONNNGGG WAIT for your priority date to be currect for visa availability.
so, its NOT gonna be like BOOM!!! your hubby will be here in a blink of an eye... to our friends that are already reunited with their beloved can say "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT" so lets all hang in there...just like our friend Michelle_jim, they waited too but now, lo and behold!!!! she's already here in the US enjoying the cold weather hahahah ....and will live happily ever after... we all will have our own turn.....
PATIENCE IS VIRTUE!
Well said, mitch.

Dear friends
I gotta tax question. If spouse is outside US and donot have ITIN number, how we have to file?
MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY? OR MARRIED FILING JOINTLY?
IS IT NECCESSARY TO FILL W7 FORM?
DONOT DISCARD ITS VERY IMPORTANT TOPIC when they ask for tax transcripts.
I HEARD THEY MIGHT ASK FOR TAX TRANSCRIPTS AND OTHER RELATED THINGS.
NOT SURE PLEASE HELP
THANKS
matthew, NVC requests tax transcripts as evidence that the petitioner is financially capable of sponsoring the beneficiary. But nevertheless, filing jointly can serve as additonal eveidence at the visa interview.
If you want to file as "Married filing jointy" then you will have to get an ITIN for your foreign spouse. Otherwise you would have to file as "Single".
I think if you can, its always better to get an ITIN and file as married, since that will resuce your tax obligation.

Hi Vjers! finally, i'm here in the USA.. it's freezing cold.. i'll update my timeline for ya'll soon..
This is incredible Jim/Michelle. You have finally completed the journey. Congratulations for reuniting with your hubby! It is also so nice of you to have kept us updated. When you've finally settled in, we will love to hear your experiences at the interview. Welcome to the US.

Hey all..
Thank god..God is great!!
Received our interview appointment letter from NVC.we got our interview date...itz for April 29!!!
thank you all...
Great news Pretty! The journey is almost over.
-
Has anyone heard from Jim&Michelle lately? Her interview is supposd to be in February.
-
just thought that came to my mind.... do you guys think joint bank account would be a plus points for showing bonafide marraige? and should i have it here in the US? or there in the Philippines where my husband is?
mitch, I think having a joint account with your spouse in the foreign country is a plus in evidence. Whatever helps to establish that the marriage is not for immigration purposes.
-
me too... i still have an issue to be corrected with my case... but thanks for the advice... i will write them a letter....i erroneously put STEPSON as a relationship for my husband and my stepson, which should have been SON. didnt realize they were asking for the relationship of my hubby and the baby not with me.... that was stupid....
SAMKUNLE---> do i have to use a specific cover letter for corrections? or can i just email them?
mitch, I think you should talk to a live NVC operator about your corrections, since they have to do with pertinent information about the benefiary and dependent and ask them what to do specifically.

Good Day VJ Family...
Newbie on this forum and i am happy to know that we have such a informative site such as these.
Anyway, i have a petition for my wife that was approved last July 2009 and with a priority date of May 2, 2007. Recently she gave birth to our son in the Philippines.
My question is do i have to file a separate petition (I-130) for my child or just request NVC to update my wife petition to include our son as a dependent.
Any input is sincerly appreciated..Thank you.
Raymon, if you're still an LPR and you already have an NVC Case Number, all you need to do is add your child to your wife's petition. Type up a letter and send to the NVC stating that you want to add your child to the petition. Include a photocopy of your child's birth certificate. Make sure to include the following details:
NVC Case Number
Petitioner's Full Name and date of birth
Beneficiary's full name and date of birth
Mail the letter to the following address:
National Visa Center
32 Rochester Avenue
Portsmouth, NH 03801
If you are already a USC, then you will have to file another I-130 for your child.

Poster,
My advise is that you stay positive and not do anything to complicate the problem by attempting to lie any further. These guys keep records. Lying any further will just be adding fuel to the fire. If the topic is brought up, which chances are pretty high it will be, I suggest you come out clean and admit your mistake. But don't take my word for it, I think it's a good idea you get the advise of an experienced immigration lawyer.

How often have I been punished by Krikit for making a sligthly sarcastic, yet much less judgmental comment!
Yet, here the finger pointing, mud-throwing and selfrightiousness is about to reach an unfortunately climax. None of this is helpful to the O.P., people. She asked a question, and you tell her to kneel down and accept the deadly sword for being a sinner.
Where's Kathrin, where's Krikit on this one? Blissfully looking the other way? What are the rules of the game if they are implied so selectively, I wonder . . .
Just Bob,
Thanks for your comments. It's a shame that many of the folks here offering their comments are not offering any ideas to help mitigate the problem. For all you guys making self-righteous remarks, you talk as if having a family separated for 4 to 5 years is an easy thing to do for anyone, just for the sake of having the opportunity to live together in the US. I have not taken time to take a look at the profiles of those making comments, but it seems to me that some of you can not identify with an LPR spouse that has been seperated from her husband for 4 to 5 years.
While I have never attempted what the poster did, during my 4 year separation from my family, I admit that I thought of all possible ways (sometimes questionable) of getting my family here, just on visitor visas, but dismissed all ideas because I understood the implications. Unfortunately, the poster was misinformed. You think if she had understood the implications, she would have done it? How many Americans drive under the speed limit because they are just "good and righteous" people, and not because they don't want to be punished with a traffic fine? So please don't make it sound as if LPR spouses that patiently wait for their applications to be approved have done it simply because they are just good and law-abiding people. Many have done it only because they know what could happen if they attempt to take matters into their own hands.
Anyway, while not condoning the actions of the poster, I don't think that the poster came hear to be beaten up on top of her mistakes. She made a mistake. Doesn't make her "evil" and not deserving of a visa for herself and her children to be with her husband after 4 to 5 probably painful years of separation.
I will advise those that have nothing positive to say to just shut up! That is not the purpose of this forum.

HEY EVERYBODY!
Just wanted to share my JOY!
I got the case complete news from NVC operator todayyyy!
Congratulations m2a on completing your case!

Hey Shallom Hi,
the thing is you have to send ALL your documents in their original form, and you also send in photocopies. Be ready to send in the original or Certified True Copies of your Marriage Certificate, Divorce Certicate (if any) Beneficiary's Birth Certificate, Children's Birth Cerificates, photocopy of beneficiary's and children's bio-data page of passport, and any other document you deem necessary for your application.
Shallom, I hope this answers your question.
Admire, congrats on the progress being made! It must feel very good. And yes, I got your text message.

hi samkunle! thanks for your help... my husband paid the AOS fee last jan 24 & now after 3 days it shows PAID so he now download the coversheet but it appears blank, how come? he has already updated the newest adobe reader 9.3.
and one more how can i check if my choice of agent thru email & mail received by the NVC...coz reading your timeline, DS2030 & AOS fee
bill must paid & received before you the next step which is the 1864 package....pls do reply..thanks!
Hello Jeanette, the only bill which needs to be paid before sending the I-864 package is the AOS bill. The IV bill is for the DS-230 package.
As per the the choice of agent request, NVC will send you an email to let you know that they have accepted the choice of agent request. Another way to know it has been accepted is when the IV bill is generated or activated on your account.
With regards to why the cover sheet shows blank, I have no idea. Let us know when your husband finds out what's the reason.

Hey SamKunle, I may be wrong but you seem well knowledgeable about NVC process. Well, I'm a LPR, did file for my wife and kid with PD Nov 24,2006. Got approved in May 29,2009 and received case # from NVC July 21,2009.
It seems some guys with PD in December 06(
wow !) are getting DS 3032 and I-864 Bill. I have been checking my mailbox too.
What documents were required for your kid ? I have 2 boys, 13 and 2. Did you have to send your kid copy of passport as it's required of the Primary beneficiary ? Yes I visited LingChe and James short cuts. Hope reading from you soon.
Wishing your family smooth interview
Thanks Shallom. I want to believe you should be receiving DS3032 form and AOS bill sometime soon since a few Dec '06 "priority dates" have received theirs just last week. I hope you have provided NVC with email addresses of yourself and your wife. NVC prefers email communication.
To your question, I submitted a photocopy of the biographic data page of my son's international passport with the DS 230 forms.
Wishing you the best in bringing your family to the US.

This is incredible!!! I have never seen this before - 6 months progression in the F2A category within one month. WOW! Congratulations to everyone all in this forum - your visa journey will end sooner than you expect. I encourage you guys to buckle up and start gathering documents, especially those with PD for next year.
