  1. My husband and I received an RFE because we did not have proof of a lease for the first two years we lived together and that is because we lived with my mother. We sent in a lease agreement from this past year since we finally moved out on our own. My mother wrote a letter for us to send in. I just want advice on the letter, in case I should add something else to the letter or leave it as is.

In connection to petition to remove the conditions of residence

    To Whom it May Concern,

This is written to confirm that my daughter Jane Doe who is the petitioner and my son in law John Doe who is the beneficiary, did reside with me at (address). They lived in my home for almost two years since John came to the United States on May 3, 2010. I was happy to share my home with them rent free during that time. My daughter Jane and her husband John found a home of their own last year and moved out on March 1, 2012. I was also the witness to their marriage on May 24, 2010, and have spent time with them on a regular basis to know that they live happily together as husband and wife.

Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have.

    Sincerely,

    Jane Doe

  2. Hi Everyone,

I need some help. I sent my husbands paperwork for the removal of conditions on his green card. Well we got an RFE. I read the notice and it mainly focuses on the fact that we did not provide a lease agreement for the first two years we were living together. That is because we lived with my mother. We sent a couple bills and letters that were mailed to us at that address but they are asking for more evidence. I don't know what else to send, I think I sent everything we have collected over time. How can we prove that we lived together the first two years? I did send the lease agreement for this past year since we finally moved out of my mother's home. Could I have my mother or a friend write a letter saying we lived with her and have it notarized? Please let me know what else I can do?

    Thank you

  3. I am not sure if it was a felony or misdemeanor. That is why I'd like to get a look at his record if its possible. My mother is okay thank you :) He actually never hit her. He was taken because he grabbed my mother by the arms pretty hard and sat her down while they were having the argument. This caused bruises on her arms. I saw what happened that day but of course any physical contact is considered domestic violence. I will definitely look at this website for information thank you.

  4. I am sure I will need a lawyer for my fathers case but I wanted to see if I could get some feedback from anyone who can offer me some advice. My father was a permanent resident and living in California for 30 something years. He was put in jail for domestic violence while married to my mother. His permanent resident papers were taken away and he was forced back to Mexico, that is his birth country. He crossed illegally after 2 years of having to live in Mexico. He eventually got caught in San Diego after a couple years and was taken back to Mexico. He was given a 10 year penalty in which I believe means that he could not file immigration paperwork to cross back into the US legally. Out of desperation my father tried to cross the Mexicali, Mexico border illegally and got caught 3 years ago. I'm a US citizen and now in my mid 20s I have the money to be able to petition for my father. I'm just afraid it's too late. How can I figure out what his record looks like? My father is in his late 50s now. He now lives in Tijuana, Mexico. I hate the thought of him living over there by himself. Especially now that he is getting older and someday he will need my help. I have a great relationship with my father and I would love to be able to bring him back. Please help with any advice you can.

    Thank you,

    Natalie

  5. Yes that was the other problem, my husband never received an I-94 when we came into the US and we got info passes to see various immigrations officers that told us different things to do due to the fact we never received an I-94. When we crossed the brown manila my husband received in Juarez was never asked at the port of entry. I confirmed with this officer if he needed to take the brown manila folder and she said no, she even almost forgot to stamp his passport but i reminded her of that. It was a very odd situation and therefore paper was never entered for him. Basically he entered the US without uscis knowing of it. But well they told us to file for AOS without the I-94. We tried getting an account with his passport and they said they needed to see a picture ID with his home address from here. So then I shouldn't show them the letter my mother wrote right?

  6. Hi everyone,

I have read and read threads of people with so much evidence to take for their AOS interview and now I am really worried. Me and my husband unfortunately only have pictures and a couple of cards we have given to each other. We couldn't get a bank account here because they asked for ssn and state id from him (which he does not have at this moment) to have a joint account together. We have a bank account from mexico together but I don't know if that will help and a letter from my mom saying we live with her and so on. We are just starting to try and build a life together but since he doesn't work right now it's tough for me to handle everyting on my own and don't see the need of a bank account together and extra phone bills. I Cant add him to my insurance because he doesn't have a driver's license. We live with my mom so we don't have rent/leases under our names. We just got married last year in May after he entered the US 3 weeks prior to our marriage.

Any other ideas of paperwork I can take?

    Thanks,

    Talie

  7. Okay just a little confused and hoping someone can help me. We gladly received a letter saying to appear for initial AOS interview on february 10th, 2011. My husband has not received his work permit nor travel permit. I thought this would be received before any interview date for his green card? Are we skipping this part completely? or should he be receiving these permits prior to his interview? Help please?

    I would appreciate it.

    Thank you,

  8. hi,

if you carefully searched for answers on here, you'd find quite a lot of posts saying that you should put your married name if that's the name you want to go with in the future. just put your maiden name wherever they are asking for your maiden name. that way you'll save time and money. good luck.

there's actually a post not far from yours where a person shares her experience at the biometrics, here's the link:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/279187-sudden-name-change-from-maiden-name-to-married-on-biometrics/

    good luck,

    ais

Thank you for this but it doesn't answer my question because she's a beneficiary. I am the petitioner to my husbands case. I found out I could use either but since my supporting documents are still under my maiden name it's best to go with my maiden name. Thanks.

  9. Hello I am filing the aos for my husband but since we got married I took his last name. Do I use my new last name for all the paperwork? Or should I continue to use my maiden name on the paperwork since I have not changed my last name on any of my ids, bank accounts, personal info. I also do not if I should use my new last name on his affidavit of support since I am the sponsor. Please help! Thank you.

  10. Okay so I’m freaking out!!! My husband got approved in March of this year and he crossed into California from Mexico in May. When we drove across they stamped his visa passport but they never asked for the brown envelope with all the information which is sealed and you cannot open. I asked the immigration officer if they needed to see this and she said no that we were fine. But this whole time I have been worrying about still having the envelope and until now I still have it and this should have gone through immigration when we crossed right? What can I do now? Is this a problem? His visa expired this month but we are now married. Can I take this back to the immigration office? I need help please. I need to file AOS soon.

    Thank you,

    Talie

  11. Alright, my husband will be getting his medical examination done next month so we can file for his AOS. Now I am a bit confused because I thought that I read that you do not need another examination done if you file within one year of your first examination which was done in Ciudad Juarez. He did not need any vaccinations but I do not have proof of the examination. Can someone please just confirm to me that he does need another medical examination here in the States so I can proceed with the process? Thank you for your help 

  12. Hello,

I am getting ready to fill out the I-485 form for my husband who just got his visa, but I honestly have no idea what to fill in for some of the questions that are on the form. Is there anyone that has completed this form along with the travel and work permit forms who would be willing to be in contact with me through email to help me out when I have a question about the forms? It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help out that way, if not than I can just do a couple more postings on here and get help from everyone. I would like to know if my new last name is required on the forms since I just got married to my husband or may I use my birth last name? It might not even matter but I thought I would ask. I hired a lawyer for the first process of the visa and it all went well but most of the information she would give me was always incorrect and I would end up looking else where for the information. I decided not to use her services for this next process and try to do the rest on my own.

Thank you all for your help.

  13. Hello,

My husband got his visa in March and we recently got married this past weekend!! Now we are ready for the next step in

obtaining his green card. He would like to get a travel permit and work permit for now. Can we file for this before or does it

have to be done while filing for the green card? I am not sure as to what to do next after wedding. Please I can use all the

help in the world as I am not going back to the lawyer that helped us with his papers in the first place, it was a waste of money!

She gave us a lot of false information. Also if there is a thread you know about here in the boards that could help me please let

me know! Thank you, I appreciate all help! =)

  14. Okay so my fiance got his visa approved on March 3rd...his currently still in Mexico. I live in California and I called my lawyer to let her know he would be crossing in the next two weeks and she was freaking out and telling me that we have 60 days to get married from the day he got his visa...which means were pretty much screwed since it will be 60 days by the end of this week. I am so confused because I thought once he crossed with his visa, then we would have 90 days to get married, which was what the lawyer told me at first and now she's changing things around for me. So if anyone can please help!! I'd appreciate it....because this is really frustrating! PLEASE HELP!
