After my wifes biometrics it took about 2 months to get the 10yr GC. Most of california service center is being processed quickly. Depending on your paperwork etc depends how smoothly it will be processed generally.

Wish you both luck on it & hopefully get a smooth process. When we sent in ours I even sent in a personal statement along with 3 others.

This process was so much smoother then when getting the 2yr gc,

But remember just remain positive & try not to stress out over everything. Life will continue to throw you a bunch of curve balls & you will grow stronger over each and every 1 you conquer.

I can agree that it is a bunch of BS, Time & Money we have to go through with the whole immigration Process. But look at it this way the first 2years of any marriage are generally the hardest. Which this can be a good thing. But then you have to file again within 90days before your GC expires. yay a whole 590 they milked us for again. Then the trips & gathering all the paperwork needed for it. And can't forget the long wait again lol.

PS I would suggest keeping all your documents together & start gathering for everything before it's time. This will cut down half the hassle.

Luckily we had everything together in 1-2 spots. I personally black out Account #'s as IMO they do not need that. as that is personal information you don't want just anyone to have.

Also doing the k1 route you can get citizenship in 3yrs time. which is better then some of the other ways. ( I plan on getting my wife to do it)

Every Location is different in the time it takes to process. California seems to be the fastest from what I have noticed.

We even had a interview before my wife got approved. They denied us At the beginning made us wait in the lobby to supposedly check to make sure they have enough documents so we didn't have to drive another 8hrs back & while waiting in the lobby we kinda cuddled. I believe they observed us & called us in & swapped papers with us saying we are approved. Talk about head games.

But all in all atleast we are together & My wife was approved. Now it's waiting for the new Approval & GC. I want my wife to study all she can now so we don't have to go through this in 10yrs. As It is such a pain to go through.

Just stay strong & remember nothing in life is simple. Every obstacle makes you stronger.

Yes the Noa1 is useless for checking online. Have to wait for Biometrics appointment letter & use that NOA...

With VSC being Sent to CSC I would tack on a week or 2. some area's mail can take a week alone to be received. I for 1 am lucky being 6 hrs away from CSC that it generally takes 3-4 days lol.

Remember weekends & Gov Holidays don't count lol.

sent ours in on Monday the 22, received that wednesday and check cashed on Friday.

Question, my husband came to the U.S. on a fiance visa and he had biometrics done then, did everyone get biometrics done then? I thought he would not need to repeat biometrics again, anyone repeating them twice?

Yes it's perfectly normal to have biometrics twice. My wife had hers done before she could get her conditional GC. & we are scheduled to do them again.

They will accept checks, money orders & cashiers checks. Just make sure it is pay to the order of: U.S. Department of Homeland Security

They will not accept abbreviations.

I Personally use cashiers checks as I refuse write a check or have a checkbook. (I just feel they are a headache)

We are preparing to file this week hopefully.

All we have basically is couple medical bills for address, green card, checking/savings, a few photo's & unsure what else at this point.

We have been 24/7 caregivers to my grandfather until he passed 3 months ago & we are currently trying to sell the house & Move so we can start our lives over.

Could have a few friends of ours write letters if needed, Haven't gone through getting a permit or anything mainly due to No Time & finding us a vehicle we would like that would work for both of us.

Hopefully this is a smooth & fast process Wish we could go visit her family for Christmas & to celebrate our Birthdays at the same time.

Any tips on how to write the cover letter & anything else we should throw in?

I do not remember if we set the embassy appointment first or not But I do think we did call & get it scheduled.

Personally what I would do is take and call or schedule online to get the interview date set.

Then once you have that print it out and take to the st lukes medical so you can get a full medical done.

you will need to pay for it there.

Depending on situation will determine if you need to return.

Also make sure you are not on your period as they will make you come back after your period is finished. (For the ladies)

she can keep her last name & you can even take her last name. as long as they ok that in Washington.

I took my wifes last name here in california.

Many think I am nuts But I chose that route to give her family name a better chance since daughters names usually change.

the letter i took to st.luke's is stating for my med..which is noticed to do my med..

but anyway im just saying what i did on mine and still lucky i dont have prob's of my med..

it took me 3days just to finished it..

i just goto st.luke's and show the appointment letter to a sec.guard..

Well Medical will be first then interview. But you want to finish your medical 1week prior to interview or more.

Once medical is finished you can goto your interview which you can get interview date online or by phone.

which is best to do asap.

For the interview its best to have all documents needed photo's etc

After interview will be approved or denied or need more info.

Then you should receive passport in 1week via carrier.

Then go get CFO Done.

get on plane after cfo certificate.

Then you will arrive in states get married and file for AOS.

More costs & traveling time etc.

Wife will be able to answer more tomorrow if needed.
