  1. Hello VJ's members!

Due to family circumstances I will fly to my country (I am a conditional 2 years GC holder) and I am not sure when I am back. So, I am going to apply for Reentry permit (travel document I-131).

I have read at uscis.gov that I have to send a copy of the front and back of my I-551 (GC) along with application I-131 and the check payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security for $360 (the fee)+ $85 (biometrics). Do I have to send anything else?

I am applying for Reentry Permit for my child too. I have read at uscis.gov - "All applicants for Rentry Permit and/or Refugee Travel Documents between the ages of 14 through 79 are required to pay the additional $85 biometric fee".

My child is 10 years old. Does it mean that I have to pay for child only the fee for 360$ (is the fee for Reentry permit for child the same - $360?). Don't I have to pay additional biometric fee for my child? Will the child have to be at biometrics in ASC?

    Thank you.

  2. For AOS we need the 3 last taxtranscripts, right? (2010, 2009, 2008). Aaron (USC) did not file taxes in 2008. Is that gonna be a problem? or should we wait with AOS until he filed taxes in 2012 so that we can add 2011,2010,2009?

When we filed for AOS (GC for 2 years from K1 and K2 visa)back in October 2010, I sent tax transcripts of 2009 and 2008, was approved without any RFE in 2.5 months.

  3. Hello VJ's members!

We are moving to another state and I want to file AR-11 Alien's change of address. I wanted to do that online, but nothing came out from that. Did anybody have the same problem? Should I download this form and then to send by mail? But I wanted to do that online. (I know that my husband has to file I-865 and to send it by mail). The question is - how can I file AR-11 online? Any help would be appreciated.

  4. Hi folks,

I am just preparing my package for my AOS from a K1 Visa. I am filing for the whole shebang, including EAD and AP. I am puzzled by the requirements regarding the number of pictures. Do i really have to supply SIX passport-style pictures (after the 4 they already got during the I-129 & Visa-phase). If i read the instructions correctly they want 2 for the I485, 2 for the EAD and 2 for the AP. They must like my looks a lot.

    Any experiences?

    Topaz

Yes, you have read correctly - you need 2 passport-style pictures for I-485, 2 for EAD (I-765), and 2 for Advance Parole (I-131) 6 in total.

  5. Thanks for sharing your experience. I went to my scheduled Biometrics but there was nobody there. A lady was vacuming the place so I don't know if they were about to close. The officer joked around with me. I actually had a "hair" issue. It was humid that day and my hair started flipping up. It looked so stupid in the picture. He gave me two more chances to arrange my hair so I got it just barely. I thought of the member who shared her no make-up experience. Well, I thought, that won't happen to me. I came after work and was "fixed up." But the hair situation was a bit embarassing. The officer did not like it either, thats why he gave me the additional chance. Otherwise, this was a 10 minute deal, in and out.

Guys, how long does it take to get interview letter after biometrics? I am October filer and my biometrics were November, 18...

  6. Good Afternoon,

I was wondering how long we have to wait after POE on IR1 before we can go to the SS office and apply for a SSN?

The immigrant has entered the US for the 1st time in his life and has never been issued a SSN before. We also checked "yes" on the DS-230 for automatic issuance of the SSN. However, after hearing on VJ that many people never receive their SS card automatically we'd like to apply for ours ASAP, . Can we go in now (2 weeks after POE) and apply? Thanks.

I waited 2 weeks before I applied (I entered as K-1 visa holder), they had already me in their database. Some VJ members advise to wait 3 weeks.

It was easy, you have just to go to SS office and to fill out the application and then your SS card will come within 2 weeks by mail.

  7. Hi everyone! I am from New Jersey. I wonder if there are members here from NJ who were driving in the Philippines before. My question is did they still take the actual driving test or just the written exam? I have been driving for 18 years in Manila,Philippines and I was wondering if I would start from scratch here? Any information is highly appreciated guys! Thanks in advance!!!!

I had my driving license from my country (Moldova - Eastern Europe), but I had to take my written test and today I passed driving test on the road. So even I had my driving lisence they still told me that I have to take driving tests (written and behind the wheel) here in US.

  8. Hello VJ family :) ! Would you help us with our question please? :help: We got our NOA2 at February, 17. Here is our question - how can we track our case AFTER we got our NOA2? (we did track it while we were wating for our NOA2 at uscis.gov). Will we get any notification when NVC will receive our case from USCIS (and when it will leave NVC to embassy)?

    Thank you much in advance.

  9. Thank you much for your information Aliona! I have heard that there are a lot of people in front of Bucharest Embassy in Chisinau and I think nothing has changed since 2008... But I hope everything will be ok. Has your US fiance (husband now :) ) been together with you at interview in Bucharest or you have been alone? Thank you much again ;)

    [/quote

Reading your reply some new questions have come out :) (sorry some questions sound silly :( How did you book your interview in US embassy (Romania) by phone/email/or? How much time I need (appoximately) before my interview in Bucharest after sending back Packet 3 to US embassy in Romania?

Does Romanian embassy in Chisinau issue visa for traveling to Romania the same day or 1 week later?

Thank you much, Aliona  .

  10. I can tell you how to obtain it, but i can't say that it's not difficult.

I f nothing changed since the summer of '08, than you'll need alot of patience and time to wait in crazy long lines and to deal with B***itt.

Nu dureaza mult si poti avea rezultatul chiar in aceeasi zi, sau a doau zi dimineata, cum te intelegi.

    Succes mult!

  11. When they say that when you include a copy of your passport copying all blank pages does that really mean you should start from the passport picture going to the back including blank pages where a stamp could be right ?

We don't really need to start from page 1 to copy all the standard info pages about emergency contacts etc do we ?

I just started from the page that has the passport photo going to the back. Should be enough right ? This is for K1.

We made copies of ALL pages.
