  1. Hi guys, just an update. I got a letter yesterday from USCIS stating that they have a record that they sent my GC,so if it got lost, stolen or destroyed I may need to file for a new one with I-90 for a fee! (and I haven't even got a hold of it yet!) ...so that leaves me with the Post Office.

Good thing, USCIS stated the tracking number of my GC mail, so I was able to check it online. My GC DID arrive at my local post office, and it was sent out for delivery, BUT! it wasn't stated that it was DELIVERED to me at all. The last status was: Delivery status not updated as of March 15, 2011, 10:13 pm

That was a month ago! I'm supposed to get my GC last month! *grrrr* So I went to the post office and inquired about it, unfortunately, all the carriers/Mailmen already went home by the time I got there. (They close at 5:30pm..and I got the mail around 5pm) So the manager just took my phone number and will let me know today. I hope my GC's still with them, coz I don't want to pay for anything that I never even had my hands on!

  2. We went for our interview on February 24th(2011) and were told that my wife is approved. Till today no green card or online status update =/. How long did it take for everyone else?

Hi everyone! Hi Filetitan! I think we have the same prob. I suggest you call the USCIS office to inquire about your case. I just called the USCIS today inquiring about my greencard too. I got my Approval Letter last March 10, 2011, and up to now, no green card in the mail. Anyway, I called them last March 28 ( 3 weeks after arrival of Approval Letter) as stated on the letter to call them if no GC within the next 3 weeks. The lady told me to wait til April 12..and to call them back. So I called again (April 13) a while ago, and this time the guy took my address and my receipt # and A# ...and informed me that he will contact the CSC office about my case. I was also told to wait (again) within the next 30 days and if still no GC, I should call them back. Oh yeah, I was given a reference number...which I'm not sure what it's for..maybe for my inquiry.

So I guess I'll just keep waiting..and hopefully it won't take another 30 days for my green card to arrive.

  3. well thats too bad. thinking you are in cali anyway. but like you said its only wednesday and well im sure it will get there still this week. but i can assure you that you can already call yourself a permant redsident.

Thanks Sarah-JAX! yep, I've been doing some research on VJ-ers with local filing centers in CA, and it seems that the GC arrives between 12- 17 days after the Welcome letter arrives...and those who live near the east coast or mid- US receive it faster. The GC doesn't come from CA at all. It actually comes from Missouri if it's family-based applications. :) til now i haven't received it yet....I haven't checked the mail today yet ..*crosses fingers*

  4. Here we go i received the welcome letter in the mail today AND i also received my green card!!!!! UNBELIEVABEL!!!! feels soooooo weird holding it in my hands and knowing no more immigration for less than two years!!!! hahaha

congrats as well to fatimas momma and spela d!!!!!!

joey you definitely should go check your mail!!!! haha

Congratulations Sarah-JAX! sad to say, mine's not in the mail yet.. :( but then again, the week's not over! lol :) i'm hoping it'll arrive any day this week ;)

  5. Got my GC in mail today. YAY! When do I need to apply for a 10 year GC if this one expires 03/07/2013.

Congrats SpelaD! here's what I found regarding Lifting of Conditions:

    Source: http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-removeconditions.html

"7.6) ..Why is filing 90 days before the expiration of my 2 year green card so important?

A..You file within the allowed 90 day window so that you comply with law and preserve your PR status. Filiing at the earliest moment helps you do this, and allows enough time for the Notice 797C to get to the PR. The NOA + expired Green Card are their only evidence of status.

You and your spouse must apply together to remove the conditions on your residence. You should apply during the 90 days before your second anniversary as a conditional resident. The expiration date on your alien registration card (commonly know as green card) is also the date of your second anniversary as a conditional resident. If you do not apply to remove the conditions in time, you could lose your conditional resident status and be removed from the country.

As a legal permanent resident, you should have received a permanent resident card. This card will continue to prove that you have a right to live and work in the United States permanently. If you file your USCIS Form I-751 (Petition to Remove the Conditions on Residence) on time, the USCIS will extend your conditional resident status for up to 12 months while your Form I-751 petition is under review."

It's stated here within 90 days..I've read on one VJ-er that the Custom Officer who interviewed them advised them to apply 60 days instead of 90 days. She stated it's safer that way..but not sure why. You may want to research about that. :) Goodluck!

  6. How do you reach a "real" person at USCIS?

I called the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283 but only get the run around with recorded messages saying there is no record of my receipt number.. Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance.. I would like to get some sort of update if possible.. Or even to know if they lost the damn thing..

Hi! Have you tried Infopass? I read on some forums that it helps a lot. I found this link on uscis.gov :

    http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=f183bd85ef149210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=f183bd85ef149210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

Check to see if you need to make an infopass or not.. hope this helps. :)

  7. Well I checked my mailbox earlier and I havent received anything yet but well florida is a little further away than cali or where are you fatimas momma are from?

I'm pretty sure yours is coming any day now, Sara-JAX! :D I saw Fatima's Momma's location is in Missouri..a bit closer than Florida..so most probably you're next to get the letter :) expect it either Monday or Tuesday :)

  8. Just got text/email number 4 for this week: my case has been updated and is in post decision activity saying my AOS has been approved. So why do I get the notice of card production before I get my approval? Does that make any sense? Duh!

    Same here too!

  9. I got hired for a job but cant start until I have my ssn, how long do I have to wait for the Social security card?

It's past 2 weeks since I applied for it. I called their hotline and told me they cant find my information. :crying:

I applied for my SSN way before I sent my AOS application and got it in the mail about 2 weeks after..they said wait for about 2-4 weeks.

Anyway, yours might be on the way, so hang in there, and Goodluck!

  10. Got my EAD card yesterday but unfortunately I need to go back for 2nd fingerprints

Oh no! go ahead and try to walk-in instead of waiting for the appointment. And, make sure you request the officer taking your fingerprints that everything has a green mark (meaning Good Print) per fingerprint. If there's a red exclamation mark on any one fingerprint, the FBI might still decide your fingerprints are unreadable. When I had my second biometrics, there's one fingerprint that has a red mark. I asked the officer about it and he said that was good enough and it's clear. But then again..I got an RFE stating that the FBI was unable to read my biometrics and requested for a Police Clearance instead.

I've read about a person in one forum that she requested the officer to repeat and repeat until everything is all good. Good thing she was the only person around, and the officer was kind enough to accommodate her. Anyway, if possible, try to be as nice and request the officer taking your fingerprint to make sure every fingerprint is acceptable so your prints will be accepted by the FBI. Goodluck!

Another Tip I've read: You may also try to call the FBI office near you to check if you cleared finger printing.

All you need is your A#, Full name, Address and some basic info handy.

They will tell you if it was cleared and sent back USCIS. (this way, you get a heads up if you passed your biometrics or not)

  11. Got my EAD card and RFE letter at the same time! bittersweet huh? lol anyway, I was right about my RFE regarding my fingerprints..the FBI wasn't able to read it the second time so I need to get a Letter of Good Conduct (a.k.a Police Clearance)from a Local Sheriff Station or Local Police Station...and it's only available at Norwalk Sheriff Station in CA.

I called them a few minutes ago, and told me it's FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVED, and the processing will only take about an hour and I can get the clearance the same day. So, it's all good. Oh yeah, just for future VJ-ers who might undergo the same thing, here are the requirements:

    1. CA state ID or Valid Passport

    2. A letter/mail with your current address

    3. Social Security Number

They're closed on FRIDAYS til SUNDAYS and office hours run from 8:30AM -4:00PM only.

Wish me luck guys! hope all will go well..:)

  12. Didn't you get you EAD approved already? That means you fingerprints are okay and that's why they approved your EAD. I might be wrong

Yup I got my EAD approved, but based on what I've read on some forums, the EAD is not dependent on the Biometrics..:( some got their EAD even before they got and RFE about their unreadable fingerprints..:( oh well..I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :)
