  1. Dear Blue,

Very good to find your most encouraging email waiting for me upon arrival in Kolkata from LAX today. Tomorrow I fly out to Mumbai to meet with my fiancee. Yes, we will be dropping off the packet on tuesday, a week in advance of the interview on the 29th.

I wonder if I include photos of us and friends visiting together the past couple yrs in the packet, or would she take them and copies of our correspondences on the day of the interview? Sounds like she will have the word on all that when she goes through the checklist at the VHS office on tuesday.

I am cc ing your email/my response to Aruno. Many thanks for your very helpful and re assuring email!

    Robert

  2. Greetings all. My name is Robert and I found it hard to navigate through VJ, but am learning the ropes better now. Sarah of VJ has been a big help to point me to this thread. She mentioned you might be of help when I posted a request for info. in the larger chat area earlier today

I have two questions that some of you might be fairly familiar in clarifying for my fiancee, Aruno, and me. Would greatly appreciate any helpful tips..

First, re: a bank draft that Aruno will be taking to the K-1 visa interview on the 29th of this month: is the grand total $350? The table that lists the fees seems a bit confusing. I thought the total might even be as much as much as $775 per the table. I am pasting the link with the table here.

Secondly, since she is delivering all the required papers, docs, letters, photos, my employment and tax statements [which I am hand carrying to India], etc. in a packet a week prior to the interview [per the requirement we understand], then there would not be much for her to take the very day of the interview, correct? [by the way, she arrived in Mumbai from Nagaland yesterday and will be in Maharashtra til the interview]

Thanking you in advance..really appreciate your help as we navigate closer to the interview day!

Robert ---my email address is robjerskey@yahoo.com My fiancee's email address is aruno_nakhro@yahoo.com, if you might cc to her.

  3. I appreciate that Sarah. We will be delivering all the items in the packet for the interview a week in advance, e.g., I-134 and other forms, medical exam results, police certificates, copies of my bank statement, pay stubs, etc.. so we should not need to use a courier service. In which case, as Payxibka replied [thanks again] its only the $350 fee.

Anyone else who can corroborate that?

    Thank you, Sarah!

  4. Thanks for your prompt response, payxibka! When you write "YMMV", I take it you are not certain and that there might be other fees? That is why I am asking for help, so we don;t come up short that day...

  5. Greetings,

This website has been a boon for us.

My fiancee will be interviewed for a K-1 fiancee visa in Mumbai on the 29th of this month. I will be flying over there to support her. [even if I am not permitted to enter the interview] I am preparing all the documents, etc, from my side to take along. She has all hers in order with her.

    I have 2 Questions:

    First,

Is the total fee for her application $400? I am confused. I am attaching the link for the table of fees.

    http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/ivfees.html

It looks like there might be other fees to add to that amount? There is no legend to each amount listed...e.g., do we pay the IV processing fee too? In addition to the K visa application? I already paid the fee for the petition over here in the States.

    Secondly,

I thought we are supposed to deposit the packet of all documents, etc., at the american consulate at least a week in advance, but I am reading on this website that some people are taking some ??portion of their packet with them on the day of the interview. Can you help clarify that?

    Thanking you in advance!

    Robert ----My email is robjerskey@yahoo.com

  6. Greetings all, My name is Robert. I live in San Diego. I have been traveling to India for languages study and then healthcare service for years. I met my fiancee, Aruno, in Dec., 2006. I have visited her off and on since then during her 3 yr. post grad. course--now successfully completed. My fiancee petition has been approved by the NVC and is in Mumbai. Aruno and I are preparing for the interview now! [we hope it might possibly be in May] I have a few brief questions..[the one morphed into 3]

But first: I greatly appreciate the resources found here in Visajourney [thanks to Hungarian gentleman, gem of a guy, I met on a local train here---Tivi, where are you?!] and, at another fine resource: K1 Visa Wizard [there is no chat there]

    1. Question about Affidavit of Support...I see there are two forms, very similar..I-134 AND I-864. I am confused, as on one link, the I-134 is referenced:

    http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/media/pdf-visas/info_sheet_k1_packet_3.pdf

On another link, the I-864 is referenced:

    http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/media/pdf-visas/info_sheet_packet_3.pdf

I think it is only the I-134 that I need to completed.

    2. I plan on being there in Mumbai to support my fiancee [hopefully, they will permit me to be present for the interview]. Instead of sending her the I-134 along with my 1040, W2 and 1099 forms, pay stubs, etc., can I take them along in person? [she and I will meet some days in advance] In other words, she is not required to send them along with her checked off and completed K1 packet in advance of the interview...as long as she has them in hand for the interview, correct?

    3. Final question-- in the K1 packet, she has gathered all the items requested and checked them off, except for 2 key ones: the passport and police report---they should be collected/arrive by next week. As we are hoping to have our case number listed for an interview in May, can she go ahead and check off those 2 items on the checklist and dispatch out by courier mail, being that she will have them in time for the interview?

Thank you! And we hope to be of like service in the future for those who are taking such a path..
