My question is my wife and I are traveling to the Philippines in Feb. 2013. Her greencard expires in 12/12. I will file the I751 next month and should have the I797 receipt to accompany her expired Greencard but when talking to TSA (transportation safety admin) they said they the I797 receipt is not an acceptable form of identification and they would not accept an expired Greencard. (even with the I797 reciept) I talked with the Boarder Patrol and they said they would accept this for re-entry to the US. To complicate things more, my wife still has a valid passport but it has her maiden name on it and her Greencard has her married name of course. Im sure many people have faced my dilima in the past, I just dont want to spend $5000 (non refundable) money on a trip to be denied by TSA or other immigration officials. Im assuming I should get the plane ticket in her married name (Greencard) name to avoid hassels re-entering the US. Please Advise. Thanks!

I am in the process of filing for my wife's AOS from a K1 also. It is my understanding that if you are a K-1 who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report.
However, you still need to submit an I-693 form with your DS-3025 (vaccination documentation worksheet) transfered, certified and sealed by a civil surgeon to the I-693 form.
Did you submit an I-693 form at all?
Thanks for the info, Just wondering how you applied for and got a SSN? I called the SSN office and they told me I would have to have her AOS completed first. The lady I talked to didn't seem really sure of herself but if you have any good info on that I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I filed the Adjustment of status forms for my Fiancee and first got a letter back informing me of an appointment for Biometrics testing. I then received a letter back advising me that I failed to submit a form 693 (medical form). Form 693 says I need to contact a civil surgeon from the list provided to have a medical examination done. Is this the same as the Biometrics or a different process all together? I know my Fiancee had some sort of medical before leaving the Philippines but evidently that wasn't enough. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can you send a photocopy of your marriage certificate or does it have to be the original? When I make a photocopy it says "VOID" because its on security paper, but some people have told me a photocopy is ok and others have told me you have to send the original or a certifed copy from the courthouse with the raised seal. Can anyone tell me for sure if a photocopy is acceptable? Thanks!

I have a couple of questions on filing the AOS for my fiancee. On the I765, question 16 I dont understand, its got ( ) ( ) ( ) and says to go to part 2 for instructions but I dont see a part 2. I think it might only pertain to someone with a degree or certification but I want to know what to put there or if I can just leave it blank. Second question is on the I131, it ask about travel plans etc., I was going to fill this out in case she had to return to the Philippines for any reason but she has no travel plans at this time, should I just write "none" or should I just ignore this form if my fiancee dosent plan on traveling outside the USA? 3rd question is do I send exactly $1010 for with my I485 submission or is their any other fees? 4th question is I saw where it says to send a certified copy of your marriage certificate, can I just send a photocopy of the original or what kind of certification do I need. The last question I have is with myI-864 submission, should I send more than just my last 3 years tax returns, any other advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, AOS is the short of Adjustment Of Status (Form I-485), means your fiancee (then) now wife (CONGRATULATION!)
, needs to adjust her status from a K-1 visa holder (Fiancee) to a Permanent Resident, the link Trillium13 gave you should guide you from the very beginning, its really really helpful. And im sure there will be more questions you will need to ask so just shoot em here, and you can be sure you'll get help in no time, Visa Journey rocks!
Do I do the AOS first or do we need to apply for a social security number? Thanks for your help!

My Fiancee has made it here to the USA from the Philippines. I need to go get a marriage license but need to know if we do that before or after we get her a social security number? I live in South Carolina and was reading that both parties need to bring their social security card, didn't know if it applies in our case or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

hi all...our k1 applicatiin was approved...and on the letter the instruction indicated to call US embassy for appointment..i've been trying to call the 1909 number provided buy i cant get thru...any advise?
My fiancee in the Phils couldnt get through either. You need to buy a pin and call the 800 # that is listed. I think its cheeper this way anyhow, otherwise they charge you per minute and with the pin you can call back multiple times. I called from the USA for my fiancee, bought a pin with a credit card and scheduled her appointment for her. I hope this helps!

The Embassy sent me an email today saying my fiancee's visa has been issued and that it could be tracked at http://www.air21.com.ph/ using her case # as the tracking # but when I enter her case # it says it invalid. It is asking for a 12 digit tracking # and her case # is 3 letters and 10 digits. Does anyone know where I can get this or what I should be using as a tracking number? Thanks!

try to get her NBI clearance with her AKA asap, so when they send that letter... she already have the clearance
OK, she went back to the NBI and got the clearance letter. It does have both her current name and her old married name on it now, but is it actually suppose to say AKA on the clearance form? It dosen't say that anywhere. Thanks!

My fiancee was sent away from her interview to get an NBI Clearance with AKA because she was once married. She went and got one and it does have her old married name on it, but it dosen't say AKA anywhere. Is it suppose to? If anyone could clear this up I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi, my fiancee's interview was scheduled for 12/17 but she was sent away with a piece of paper saying her case required further andminstrative review because she did not have the right NBI Clearance letter. She was once married but her Clearance letter didn't contain her AKA's. Has anyone else had their case put on administrative review and if so, how long did it take to hear back from the embassy? The frustrating part is that she went to the NBI before going to Manila and they told her AKA's were not required on her Clearance letter. If anyone can give me any information I would certainly appreciate it!

My fiancee had her interview appointment on 12/17 and was turned away by the prescreener because her NBI Clearance letter did not have an AKA containing her old married name. She didnt get to have her interview but was given a letter saying she would be contacted by mail telling her when to come back with the proper documentation. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Doe anyone have any idea how long it will take before she hears back from the embassy? I appreciate any info!

My Fiancee went for her interview this morning but only saw the prescreener that said she needed an NBI Clearance with her AKA because she was once married. The letter said she would be contacted by the embassy telling her when to return. She said their were other people there with the same problem but they still gave them their interview but she didn't get one. Has anyone had this happen to them and if so, how long does it take to hear from the embassy and get your next interview? I didn't know if I could just call the embassy and reschedule or if I had to wait on them? She is really devistated but if anyone can give me any answers I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks, and God Bless you all!

Hi, my fiancee has her interview in Manila next week. She met someone during her medical that told her she would need my original US birth certificate however I never saw that as a requirement anywhere in the required documents. Can someone who has been through the interview process please clarify this for me? Thanks!

Hi, I have to fax my Fiance's birth certificate to Immigration Operation Services at the US Embassy in Manila from the USA. I was given a fax # of 23012591 so from the USA I have been dialing 011-63-23012591 but it dosen't work. Can you tell me how to fax from the USA please. Thank you!

Hello David
I tried the number on my SKYPE and it is indeed a working fax number. What happens when you try? Where are you trying from? I had to fax the Manila Embassy with a mispelled name correction. However, she faxed it within the Philippines and the number was busy a lot. I'm curious why a faxed compy of a Birth Certificate? That seems strange. Can she fax it locally? Otherwise call the Embassy service center and get another number.
She hasn't been able to do it locally so I said I would do it for her. I didnt try it myself, I took it to a mailing/faxing service center. They try it but the fax never answered. Im trying to fax from South Carolina. Can you give me your exact dialing pattern? Thanks!
