You have to file 90 days before the greed card expires. You should start getting all paperworks together as soon as possible. You need to fill form I-751, copy of green card, bill in both of your names, insurance, bank statements, anything that proof you marraige is legitimate.

It's not going to be a problem. I lived a 1-1/2 years in Colombia with my wife, that helped us alot during interwiew. They saw that it was a real marriage. The important thing is that you have a co-sponcer.

All you can do is be patient and prepare all paperwork you will need for the next stage.

Your husband need to do it with at least 2 to 3 days before the interview. You need to make the appointment for both exams with time or he will have dificulty getting an appointment. It takes about a day for doctors to get all the paperwork ready for the embassy.
When my wife called for her appointment they ask the date of interview that way they can schedule the appointment.

You still need to file an I-864 and your mom needs to fill the I-864A you have to send both.

Are you looking to live forever or just for a while? In order for you to get a resident visa you need to be married to your fiance, they you can apply for a Residence visa or a temporary visa which gives lets you live in colombia for 2 years with the option to renew for another year. After 3 years living in colombia you can get the colombian residence.
I had this type of visa while I was waiting for my wife US visa to be approved. If you need more info search the colombian embassy website.

It wont hurt it can help you... I did the same, I went to the colombian embassy here in the states and got a Colombian Visa, that way I can live in Colombia for more that a 2 months. The important thing is to maintane rescidency in the states.
The day my wife had her interview they asked me where I was living and I told them in Colombia, they ask to see my passport and visa. That was the best thing for us, since it showed that we really were living together.

Your wife can get her medical anytime before the interview, make sure she makes her appointment in time. As for the packet, you dont have to wait you can download most of the paperwork from the embassy website. My wife never received the packet by mail, I called the emabassy and they told me to download them. Once she gets her visa approved it takes about 5 to 7 days to arrive.

It took me 1 year and 6 month to bring my wife from colombia.

You are not required to make any other payments at the embassy other than to pay for the visa delivery fee since you are applying for a CR1 visa. Just make sure you take with you copys of documents you send to nvc and get you medical examinations.
-
Do you have already a visitor visa? If you don't then it will be hard to get a visitor... I had the same problem as you and your husband are having. Since I could only visit my wife for a short time my wife tried to get a visitor visa and was told at the embassy that they could not give her one since we already started an immigration process. So we had to wait.

When I mailed my wifes we never had it stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As long its an original you should not have any problems.

Be prepared to be there all day. When my wife had her interview she arrived at 6:30am and did not leave till 4:00pm. Both of you will be together during the whole process, but during the interview you may have to sit down while the CO ask question to both of you seprately.

You should schedule the medical exams at least 3 days before your interview. There is no shorter line, you will get in line for CR1 and fiance visas. Your fiance son should be there at the interview as well. As for the visa, you will need to ask, they usally will mail it to the house in aprox. 7 days.

When my wife had her interview at the embacy, she got her medical exam done 3 days before her interview. The best thing for you to do is call and change the medical appointment to you dont have to travel alot.
Once the medicals are done you will have to pick them up the day before so you can take it with you to the interview at the embacy.

When I was sending flowers to my wife in Colombia I would use a website called www.daflores.com. They have excelent services, I never had a problem with them.
-
I never received a letter from NVC stating that I pay for the IV Bill, but I did it anyway and had no problems. If you decide to pay just make sure you keep copies as proof you did pay.
If you have any problems just call NVC and ask them if you can pay the IV bill now.

As for the social security card, you may need to go to the local office and apply for. When I applied for my wifes CR-1 visa I had put on the application for them to send her the social security card, but it never arrived after receiving the green card. So we went to the local office and applied for one since it was not requested by USCIS.

Did she receive a Welcome letter from USCIS after her arrival to the US? If you did then there will be listed her alien number which you can use to find out whats happen with her green card. When my wife arrived from Colombia to the US she received her green card in 15 days. The best thing you can do is call USCIS and find out whats happend.
The stamp in her passport is her temporary green card. She can travel with it as long it has not pass the 1 year valid date.
-
When I started my visa process for my wife, I moved to Colombia to be with her. What I did was mail everything directly to USCIS from Colombia, when ever I needed something I asked my parents to email me a copy of the documents. The important thing is to keep a domicile in the US.

It a good idea to be present at the interview. When my wife had her interview I was present and it helped alot.

Don´t worry, it happend to me too. Just make sure you dont open the envelope. What I did was, I stapled the envelope so it wont open more.

My wife tried and she was denied. They said no since there was paperwork already petitioning her.
She was sad, we did not want to be seperated for so long.
