  1. Very good point, Scott. Make sure you copy the letter. It is a "pass" for your Fiance/Wife to enter the consulate on or before the date. The more times in, the more chances for pink.

I want my fiance to go submit the documents about 1 week before the appointment date (June 20). She thinks that if she goes before the date, somebody else will be there and put us in AP. I think she is becoming frustrated with me for trying to get her to turn it in early so I may just let her have her way. I will try again though.

  2. For my fiance 10 year residency, she wrote it in Vietnamese, translate to English, then notarized. She did it in her hometown Ben Tre(countryside). This was a bit more work but I felt better that we did it this way. For the blue slip submission, my fiance came 1 week before the submission date and asked if she could turn it in early, and they said yes. After waiting about 15 mins, they issued pink. The blue slip is just a stall tactic and so can the visa pickup time.

What time did she go? Did she go early in the morning or in the afternoon?

The first time when your fiance got a blue slip, what documents did they ask for?

  3. Argh! I hate stupid question. My fiance made her 10 year residency paper and she write it in English. Does her 10 year residency paper have to be notarized by an American agency/organization or can she bring it to a local notary in her town?

For mine, I will notarize it at my bank

  4. I didn't have to do the Ten year residency but did help someone else and his babe also lived her whole life in one place. He put the date of her birth to present and was fine. No harm in going further back.

Thanks you sir. I will work on this with my fiance. I hope to have her back at the Consulate in 2 weeks to submit the paperwork. I will post the results for you and everybody to see. Thanks everyone!

  5. Many have gone in early and submitted and were fine. I have never heard before anyone having a hard time going in early. My babe went early and got a pink but this was about 2 and a half years ago. I suggest to get that additional info in as soon as possible.

I am in sorrow for the blue slip and I will say a prayer for y'all.

We are also doing the 10 year residency paperwork. My fiance has lived with her parents in the same house since she was born until today. The blue says to list the last 10 years but should I put that she lived at same address since she was born, or only for the last 10 years for example 2001 to 2011?

The same for me because my previous address was for more then 10 years.

  6. So, different day=different answer or different person=different answer?

Good point. I want to know as well.

Maybe I can have my fiance try a few times before the due date to see if they will take it.

  7. They have an appointment when the CO will be there on that specific date.. She can go any day between now and then but there is no sure way to know if the CO will be there or have time to address your case... Some folks have gone early and gotten pink.. others have gone and gotten another blue... have her make a copy of the blue slip.. use that copy to go inside if she decides to go early... then if there was not a pink issued on that date, she still has the original blue slip to be able to get into the consulate again on the date the appointment is set for to try to resolve anything with the CO...

Ok now I undertand. My fiance will try to submit the documents 2 weeks before the deadline. If they do not accept them, I will have her go on the appointment date. Thanks :)

  8. Why not do it before? We received blue also for missing police report but there was no date on the blue slip. They said to bring back any time. Hope you can also.

I know what you mean. The only reason i ask is because my fiance told me on the blue paper it says:

"Your appointment date for resubmission of requested documents is June 20, 2011 from 13:00 to 14:00"

I will ask her again if it also says that we can submit the documents at any time, or only the date June 20.

Does anybody else have any experience with this?

  9. My fiance got a blue slip on her interview a few days ago. The interview questions were easy and the CO was nice. They asked:

    1) When did you first meet?

    2) Where did you first meet?

    3) How many times did he come to VN?

    4) What school does he study in?

    5) What is his job title?

    6) Do you have relatives in the USA?

Easy questions. They gave the blue slip requesting a timeline and 10 year residency from the petitioner. They requested a 10 year residency from the beneficiary. We have no big red flags. No divorce, no children, no relatives in the USA and no arranged meetings from uncles or family.

I can prepare all these documents easily. The blue slip says "Your appointment date for resubmission of requested documents is June 20, 2011 from 13:00 to 14:00.

Do you guys think I would be able to submit the documents BEFORE June 20? If so, how soon would I be able to do it or should I just do it on June 20?

  10. My fiance's interview is in 3 weeks. Very nervous :(

I will create a 10 year residency document for myself and have it notarized at my local bank.

    1) I wanted to know if I should make one for my fiance and notarize it here in the US in the bank as well, or if she has to get it notarized in VN only??

    2) For the 10 year residency, it will date back to 2001. In that year I was living with my parents house. I actually lived in their house from 1995 to 2005. From 2005 until present day, I lived alone in the same home. Should I start the 10 year residency document from 2001 until 2011 or should I begin with 1995? For my fiance it is easy because she lived at the same home with per parents since she was born until now.

  11. Gosh it's so frustrating. My fiance is never prepared for anything and she is all panicky now.

If we use hotels, should we go to the luxury type hotels? I hope they will exchange even if my fiance has no plans of actually getting a room.

  12. Hi guys,

My fiance did something very stupid. She withdrew VN dong from our account and cannot find any place to exchange it to US dollars. She needs $ for her medical and the $350 visa fee. Instead of me sending her money using Western Union, she wants to find a place in Ho Chi Minh that can exchange VN Dong into $. Do you guys know any places in Ho Chi Minh City where you can change Dong to $??

  13. My fiance told me that her K1 interview is for May 20. It is far away but do anybody here think that IF government shutdown happens, our interview will be changed for later or will it stay the same? I personally feel good about it because it already has been scheduled and is far away. What do you think?

  14. she went to the local police office in Hatay rather than the justice center in Hanoi since she lived in Hatay... they dont want small town anything and the local police office didnt even know what was needed whereas the justice center knew exactly...

My fiance lives in Tan Bien which is a town in the Tay Ninh Province. About 2 hours from HCMC. Should I tell her NOT to go to her local Tan Bien town police, but instead to go to the police station in the capital of Tay Ninh province??

  15. Thank you everybody. I really think this should not be such a big deal. I already spoke to her parents and they agree to help talk with her to make her understand this is for our future. Thanks so much.

  16. Why would it consider a bad thing? I would consider that it is a good thing because you are getting a higher education to prepare for your future. Are you are going to keep your date time job? If not, this may be a problem because they need affidavit of support.

    Hello,

Yes I will continue to work at my job. I would like to change jobs but I think it is better to stay with my current job because it is very flexible with my schedule and I could get a bonus very soon...if I do good work :)

I understand your points. I also think it is a good thing. My fiance worries because she thinks it will be another reason the Consulate can use to deny our visa. She thinks why should we give them more reasons to try and deny the visa.

Are you 100% sure it will be ok if I do school?

  17. Hello everyone. We are still waiting for an interview date. I was accepted into graduate school next month but my fiance thinks I should wait until after she gets the Pink slip. I don't want to lose a $2000 scholarship because she wants me to do it later. She becomes more and more worried about every little thing as time go on. I personelly do not think going back to school is a red flag but she thinks it will make her interview more difficult.

We don't have any divorces or meetings through relatives so our case should not have very many red flags. If I go to school before my fiance does her interview considered a bad thing? How do I convince my fiance that it is ok because this school issue is really making her paranoid :(

  18. You can call DoS once a week until they have the information for when appointment letter was sent out. If appointment letter did not come within 2 week, assume it is lost and go directly to consulate to get a copy of it. Only then you can get the medical exam done. Our case we waited 3 weeks for the appointment letter still no mail.

Okay good to know. Do you have the phone number for DOS so I can call them later?

  19. ScottThuy,

I told my fiance to do the same for the P3 paperwork. She scanned and emailed the DS2001 and DS230. Because even though NVC sent the petition to the HCMC on Feb 10, we still did not get the actual P3 from them.

I worry a little now because I know the local mail service in my fiance home town is terrible. I worry that she will not get the P4 in time to do the medical and that she may also miss the interview.

How can i get the interview date before I get P4 so my fiance go do the medical?

  20. Will wait so no problem. May be best to just ask the question of everyone though.whistling.gif

Okay. Sorry for the delays. I studied the I-134 a little more and I think I understand it more now. I was just a little confused about Item # 11. It ask about making contributions to the person listed on Item # 3. The person for # 3 is my fiance. I am just confused why the example form from VJ would say "N/A (k1 visa process for permanent residence). Aren't I suppose to make contributions to my fiance?

  21. mr texan,

Okay. I will be able to submit copies of the evidence of relationship and have my fiance bring it to the Consulate for interview.

I have more questions to ask especially about the I-134. I will come back in a couple of day to ask ok? Please wait for me ok? Thanks you!
