  1. Hello!

True is that you'll have to pay the fees (12 Euro in a year I believe)

However, my Bank account is still open and my "private Rentenversicherung" goes off of it every 6 months

I simply left it open because I am planning on visiting Germany as much as i can

and no matter what, if I decide to close it i can still do it on one of my visits.

If you wanna move back you simply can open a new account.

My Grandpa is actually paying my insurance right now (he tranfers the money to my account and the insurance company books it off )

If I wanna close my Account It'll simply go off directly from his account.

If you are okay with these 12 bucks for fee i'd leave it open

It doesn't harm anyone and it's easier to get money off the account and having a German Bank account card when you visit!

    Just my opinion though

  2. Hello everybody!

I received my advance Parole the end of July and my husband and I booked flights for our Honeymoon and visiting my family in Germany.

Here are some questions I am still confused about some things!!

1.My Advance parole is in my married name and Passport is in my maiden name...is that a problem?

(Flight ticket is in maiden name as on Passport)

2.What documents do I have to take with me besides AP,Passport,Marriage license?

    Maybe NOA1 for the Greencard?

    3. Do I give them my I94 at the airport when I leave for Germany?

4.What line do I have to wait at immigration when I come back to the US?

Visitors or permanent residents and citizens??

Since my husband will be in the citizen line I'd like to be with him.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and answers!

  3. only you need the police certificate but you don't send it, you bring it to the embassy with you!

    The fee is $455!

You will have to pay for the medical examination (I think it as 120 in my case depending on the country I think)

and you will have to pay for the appointment at the Embassy (around $130 but that changes all the time)

you don't have to pay anything at the Embassy (so no $350 or whatever) since it's a K1 visa!

  4. Wyld Blu is correct. We also bought the round trip ticket because it was so much cheaper than a one-way. We had no problems not using the return trip ticket. I agree if there is any way you can wait until you have the visa in hand, it is much safer. Good luck on your interview!

    I agree!

    I also cameon a K1 with a roundtrip ticket

I had no problems at all entering and I just didn't use the ticket for back!

It was much cheaper than a one way ticket!

  5. No, they will not ask for the CD.

They will ask for the brown sealed envelope though and her full medical Exam should be in there.

They don't really care about the Cd at least I haven't heared of anybody who had to give the cd to the immigration officer.

  6. hey

I was au pair too for 1 year and if it states on the visa that is attached in your passport that the "2 year rule does not apply" then you are good.

You'll have to send a copy of that visa to your embassy in brazil at some point and that's all that matters to them.

Also I put my hostparents as my employer and never had any problems with that.

A denied tourist visa is no reason to have your fiancee visa denied.

But be prepred that they could ask about that at the interview.

I was denied a tourist visa and had no problems at all.

  7. Hey, I was in Frankfurt for my Visa.

She has to fill out form DS 230,DS 156 2 times and DS 156K.

She sends them to the Embassy.

You have to fill out I 134 for her and send it to her. she needs to send that in too.

She'll get a checklist with the Pack 3 she checks all documents she has and sends the checklist also.

She has to bring her birth certificate + copy and police record + copy to the embassy and NOT send it in.

She also has to schedule a medical exam if she hasn't already done that. Otherwise the Embassy will give you an appointment at the physician the same day as the interview. (that's how it was in my case)

you take the interview letter and stay in line in front of the embassy. You show the security guy the letter and get a number. You in through an airport security kind of system

(make sure to leave cell phoes etc in the car or somewhere else)

You walk from the security house into the main building show the front desk person your Passport etc and she'll/he'll show you where to sit and give you a sheet how to order your stuff.

I think the 1st window is #23 and you give the passport, the letter that shows you payed the Embassy fee and a passport picture as far as i remember. Might be something else too.

Next window you give the birth certificate etc. sign the document ds 156k (you leave it unsigned when you send it in) and write name/address on envelope and put stamps on it

(bring 2 euro 40 cents worth in stamps)

last window is interview and fingerprints.

    I hope that helped

    Good luck

  8. We started looking at Venues etc as soon as we sent out the K1 petition.

I looked at the internet for possible places and send him to check them out.

We put a deposit down on the venue and I looked at it when I arrived in the states.

We had a civil ceremony within the 90 days frame and just planned the big Party with family and friends for late though but it all worked out fine.

I came to the U.S in Feb, we had the civil ceremony in April and the big Party is in June.

    good luck

  9. Hey

I got married 2 weeks ago and got my Marriage license copy a cuple days ago.

I went to the SS office today and wanted to change my name on the Card.

They told me they couldn't do it because I will be out of status may 6th and they can't give me a new card because of that.

They said I have to update my I 94 in the passport...?

So can I apply for a new card when I get the NOA1 for my AOS or do I have to wait until i get my greencard??

Also, will that be a problem because I wrote on my AOS papers my new last name since I wanna have the new name on my Greencard etc?

    Thanks for answering

  10. Hi

I asked this question already once but I am still confused. Sorry for asking again but I wanna be sure.

    1. when I file for Aos i file the EAD and AP too. Do I need a copy of my passport, I94, Visa etc 3 times then..so one for AOS, one for EAD and one for AP?

    2. AP asked for a seperate sheet where I explain how i qualify to get AP...what's that all about? what should I write in there?

We want AP because we wanna have our honeymoon in Italy..is it that what they wanna know?

    3. From the Embassy in Germany I got a big brown Elvelope I gave to the officer at POE and I got a different smaller brown Envelope..Is that the medical exam? or what might that be?

The officer at POE didnt take that one.

    4. On all these documents i write my new last name under family name, right because i wanna have that name on all documents? Greencard etc. Also, can I change the name on my foreign Passport somehow?

    Thanks for the replies

  12. hello

sorry thsis was asked and answerd somewhere already but i'm confused.

So We got married April 6th and now its time to file for AOS.

so for the I 485 i need 2 passport style pics, G 325 A and the copies of Visa, passport, birth certificate and I 94 as further evidence to send with.

for the EAD and Advance parole I need the Birth certificate, copy of Visa and passport etc again? or is it enough i sent that in once with the I 485. I sent the marriage licence with the I 485 too.

How many passport style pictures do i need? 2 alltogether or 2 for every document i sent?so 6?

On my marriage licence is my maiden name and i take that and just go to the SS office and change my name on the SS card, right.

What do I do with my Passport? Can I change my Name on that somehow?

    Also the fee of 1010,00.

Is ther anything else i have to think about? what else do i have to send in?

    I wanna do this right.

I don't have to send any proof of relationship or something, right? No pics or bank statements or something?

    Thanks for the help!

  13. Proof of what?

well when we send in the AOS pack we need to send proof too..of a bondafide relationship?marriage...we dont have any proof yet so we wait and get married when we have it..

like a apartment lease, joint bank accounts, joint car insurance etc..

I'm just here 3 weeks and we have a wedding to plan etc...so we get married April 12th send in the AOS with all tha proof that our marriage is real and not fake.

  14. Thanks for the responses..

I am currently living with my fiance in his dads house..with his dad and his brother...I really feel uncomfortable here.

We'll get married in April because we just dont have enough proof yet..our apartment lease would start in April, we dont have a joint bank account yet and our car insurence expires in april so we can get one together then.

I'll just try to find something to do..I am pre school teacher so maybe I can "work" in a child care center and I look around for art classes for me to take.

Thank god I have a car so I can at least drive around.

I'm actually living in the west suburbs of Chicago..like 40 min away from Downtown Chicago.

  15. Hey guys

So I arrived in the states Feb 5 after waiting for 9 months.

BUT everything is kinda different than I imagined.

I am not allowed to work yet so all i do is sitting at home waiting for my fiance to come home..I know he is tired after work etc but I was at home 8 hours and I wanna do something.

Its just frustrating and I'm going Nuts here.

What did you guys do..I mean did you work as a Volunteer somewhere or attend some kind of group or whatever...

I just need to do SOMETHING...

I've been just here a little over 3 week but I really can't stand being at home all the time doing nothing.

I'm in the Chicago. IL area..are there some other people around here...???
