  1. Hello everyone!

I'm leaving Brazil tomorrow and I need some info about the Employment Authorization. I'm not going to get in the U.S. through the JFK airport so I won't be able to get that 1 year Work Permission that they give you there. My idea is to pay that 340 dolars tax after I get the SSC and send the I-765 Form with the check to USCIS so I can get that Work Permission BBEFORE my fiancee and I get married and do the AOS. I have some doubts about it though:

1)Is there anybody here who's ever done this?

2)Could this bring us any troubles with the AOS process?

3)What else do I have to send besides the check and the I-765 Form?

4)How long does it take for them to send the permission? Does it take too long?

Thanks! I'm really worried about money and I need to find out about this way to get the Work Permission...

  2. Thanks for the replies! My concern isn't about me having tattoos or even what they're about...the problem is that when I had the medical exam the doctor wrote on my medical report that I had 2 tattoos and described them. Then I made the 3rd tattoo AFTER the medical exams. So my worry is that even knowing that the tattoo shop I went is clean and safe, in theory it's possible to get diseases while you make tattoos, so what if they read my medical report which I assume it's in the top secret yellow envelope that I can't open, ask to see my tattoos for some reason and find out that I have a 3rd one that I didn't have BEFORE the medical exams for the interview and make a big deal about it by saying that I could had gotten HIV or something and send me back to Brazil? If they send me back and I don't marry my fiancee on July 10th as we planned she'll be mad at me and probably kick my a**! hahahahahahaha

So do you guys think I should have another blood test, translate it and bring it with me just in case?

    Thanks!

  3. Hello! I booked my flight for May 27th and everything is in order but I'm concerned with the fact that I made another tattoo AFTER the medical exams and my interview which is fine, it's a clean tattoo shop and I got tattoed there before so no risk of getting any disease or anything like that. But I am worried that when I go through immigration at the Newark airport they'll ask to see my tattoos or something and see this other tattoo that isn't in the medical report like the other ones and make a big deal about it. Do you guys think I should have another blood test, translate it and bring it with me just in case? The tattoo is on my leg, it will be totally covered, but I'm worried that they'll ask to see my tattoos...what should I do?

    Thanks everyone!

  4. I'm sorry about what happened to you and your fiance, ms_jinga_lala.

I had a similar story (except for the yelling) and the CO wanted to send my case back to the USCIS to be revoked and my fiancee and I appealed (we have lawyers too) and got the visa yesterday. There's a topic I made telling the whole thing, right now it's on the first page, so if you want, you can read it and see if it's helpfull. It would take some time (took three and a half months after my interview for then to approve our visa) but there is a chance!

    All the best!

    Rodrigo

  5. Thanks everyone for all the support and hoping! Janie and I couldn't be happier!

When the guy called me from the embassy he didn't ask anything...I was expecting some kind of interview whenever they said they'd call me but he wasn't even a CO and he actually just called to give me instructions on how to send them my passport and how to pay the post office service for them to send my passport back with the visa stamped and some other papers. Pretty cool, ahn? I'm happy that they did the right thing in the end!

    Again...thanks everyone for everything!

    Cheers!!!

  6. Yeah...some people told me that they could bet our visa was approved since they asked for this police report but I don't wanna keep any high expectations after everything that happened.

And TBoneTX...let me ask you something...are you a LDU fan (the football team)? I'm asking because you're from Equador and I remembered that LDU brough me a lot of happiness when they beat Fluminense on the Libertadores League

  7. Thanks TBoneTX and K and L!

I agree...I also thought it was good that they asked for the police records since it's something required to issue the visa. I don't think they'd ask for anything like this if it was a lost case. Only thing that sucks is that now everytime my phone rings I have "little heart attacks" but that's ok...hahahahahaha

I just hope it doesn't take like 3 more months for them to contact me!

  8. Another chapter...and it seens like good news, I guess...

Our lawyer contacted the U.S. embassy in Rio on Monday asking if they had decided anything because my fiancee and I were really sad about this whole thing and all this delay for them to answer. So on Friday, the U.S. consulate emailed our lawyer saying that the evidences were reviewed by the CO and he asked for a Police Report that I didn't have on my interview...I had one that day but it wasn't the same one they were asking, and they also wanted to confirm my phone number so I assume they're going to call me some time soon. I think it was a good sign that they asked for this Police Report because that's something required so they can issue the visa...and it was even better that they asked my phone number to our lawyer cause it probably means that I won't have to go for another interview...it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to, it's just that Rio is pretty far from here and it's an expensive trip...we'll see how it goes! Hopefully the Janie and Rodrigo's Visa Journey is going to have a happy end!

    All the best!

    Rodrigo

  9. Same thing happened to me but my fiancee and I called the congressman's office and his assistant emailed the consulate asking them to review the case because it's a real relationship and they agreed to review the case and asked us to send evidences such as photos, emails, so it changed from "returning to USCIS" to "AP" but it's been 2 months already and so far, no answer from our case. I wish they'd just give an answer soon...even if it's a bad one, at least my fiancee and i could go on a plan B

but yeah, maybe you should contact your congressman so he/she can contact the consulate and ask them to review the case...but that needs to happen BEFORE they send the case back...then they might agree to review the case.

  10. Seens very similar to what happened to me. Maybe this can help you out on what to do, jennifernhoussine...

It's been exactly 3 months since my interview and the case is still on AP...they wanted to send the case back so if you read this topic you'll see what my fiancee and I and our lawyers did to keep them from sending it back. Hope it helps you!

    Good luck!

  11. So she made a big deal just because you guys call each other husband and wife sometimes and you're not actually married to each other? My fiancee and I do the same thing sometimes, I know a lot of couples who call each other this way but in her mind that's a fraud and you're actually married? This is ridiculous!

I'm sorry you two are going through this and I hope you can be with each other soon!

  12. The same thing happened to me but mine was a K1 visa. It's still on AP but just like yours, it was going to be sent to be revoked.

Your spouse from U.S. should contact a congressman or a senator to help you out with this process. As soon as the congressman's assistant got involved on my process, the consulate here agreed to review the whole thing and asked us to send photos and emails and any other kind of evidence after a couple of weeks. Only trouble is that it's been already 2 months and so far, no decision from them. If it takes too long, my fiancee and I will probably live here in Brazil or try a CR-1 visa with her living here...we're tired of strangers making decisions about our future and we're also tired of been treated like liars from people who don't even know us.

It's ridiculous how sometimes they just assume you're lying based on your nervousness.

This is the topic I made...I explained everything that happened and everything my girl and I did...you can read it if you want.

I'm really sorry that this happened to you and I wish you good luck!

    All the best!

  13. That's exactly what happened, mourad2009...and I got a green paper too, it's checked on "others" and with the word "revocation" writen. But he never did send the case back to the U.S. cause right after what happened at my interview my fiancee sent them a letter she wrote on an email asking them to review the case and our lawyers did the same thing so they agreed to do this. It was almost a month later and we didn't hear any answer, so we contacted the congressman's office and his assistent helped us a lot! They emailed the U.S.consulate here in Brazil explaining the situation and asking them to review the case so they agreed to review the case and asked for evidences such as photos and emails (evidences that he didn't ansked to see at the interview...funny, ahn?) But it's been like 2 months and so far, and we got no answer from them.

Did you talk to an immigration lawyer or something? Sorry that the same thing happened to you! Trust me...I know how it is to have a complete stranger pretty much saying in your face that you're a liar and I'm deeply sorry to what happened to you!

  14. Thanks for the replies Sebas&Lily, Moonandstar and Ladylethal!

I don't think I have enough energy to wait for several months and I know my fiancee feels the same way so we might just live here in Brazil. We're just tired of having strangers making important decisions in our lives and pretty much calling us liars, ya know? Not just us, but actually our family and friends too. I do believe that the age difference might be an issue for them since we're talking about someone who can't even say "good morning" to another human being so I think it was an issue for them. And yeah, I was definitely nervous, but mostly because I knew there would be strangers deciding about our future and I can't say I'm comfortable with that and another thing is that from the first minute I spent in that place, they made the whole thing look like a job interview, not a chat about my relationship.

What I can't understand is that my fiancee and I are together for over 3 years so what do they think we're doing? Do they think it's a big conspiracy involving everybody we know to bring me to the U.S. so I can go to Disneyland? I just wish they could understand that I don't need the U.S. to have a life or to be sucessfull...I got the brain, the heart and everything I need to be sucessfull here and I have a really good life actually...and I'm definitely not a person who's affected by Hollywood or anything that can gives an idea to a foreigner that the U.S. is some kind of paradise that it's all fun and great! The only reason I want to live there is so the girl I love and will marry someday doesn't have to be far away from her family and doesn't have to quit a job that she loves and be away from a life that she's used to, especially because she doesn't speak portuguese and that would make things really hard for her here, cause other than that...I wouldn't even try to visit the U.S.

Well...I just hope the best come out of this. One thing is for sure: They can't and will never break us up.

All the best and a very happy 2010 for everybody! Cheers!

    Rodrigo
