Had our biometrics appointment today at the East Hartford, CT location. It was really quick and easy and there was only one other couple there. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. Nothing left to do now but wait for approval!

Came back from a two week holiday to a big stack of mail which included our NOA and biometrics letter!

No, you don't need those unless your evidence is scant. Most people don't include them; check out the pinned topic by Gary and Alla who chatted with one of the directors on evidence for ROC.

Just getting everything together for the I-751 myself, hoping to mail it off next week. I was reading the instructions that come with the form and it says to include..."Affidavits sworn to or affirmed my at least two people who have know both of you since your conditional residence was granted and have personal knowledge of your marriage and relationship."

Just wondering how official those should be and if one of those people being a family member would be allowed?

Exciting news! I checked our status today and apparently AOS was approved yesterday and the card production has been ordered!! It's so good to feel done with visa stuff for the next two years Hopefully the card arrives soon.

I was wondering that same thing Anwesha. Should we go back to the SS office now and get a card that does not say "DHS approval required to work" or does it not matter?

So yeah... I'm worried cause I saw where I should have sent it to the P.O. Box address instead of the one I sent it to, /sigh.

We sent our AOS package to that same address because FedEx said that they could not use the P.O. Box address. Anyway, we never got any tracking info back about it but we did get our NOA's just over two weeks later, hopefully you will too!

Our first exciting update in awhile, we got an approval notice for AP today. No word on EAD or AOS yet though and I must say those are the two that we are more interested in getting. Hopefully soon, good luck to all of you as well!

I'm not sure about the location issue for biometrics, but we got our appointment letter last week for August 16th and just tried a walk-in on Monday (July 26). It was no problem at all, no questions asked even, they just took our appointment letter, checked ID and we were back out of there in about 15 minutes.

It has been done before, Vanessa being one that has, just go to where you have to get it done, say on Monday, and try it out theres is no harm in trying

I also did a walk-in for my biometrics but some ASC's don't allow walk-ins. Is your appointment at Alexandria? That's where I did mine. We went around 8 or 9am and only had about a 10 minute wait.

Quick question for you. We filed all our AOS paperwork a few weeks ago and the NOA's came in happily on schedule. We then decided to book ourselves a little honeymoon for mid-August and sure enough we got a letter today with a biometrics appointment for August 16th, right in the middle of the honeymoon! Do I remember reading here that some of you were able to go in for biometrics ahead of your scheduled time? I really don't want to check the little reschedule box for fear it will be months till we get new appointment, what are the options?

Well, my fiance, like a lot of others withe a June 8th interview, got a call from the embassy about re-scheduling his interview ... and now it is on June 1st! Yay no increase

My fiance had his visa delivered to his work address and then just made sure he was at work between 8 and 6 (which I think are the hours they told him). They didn't seem to mind what address you want it to be sent to.

Hmm, I was all up for doing it until a friend mentioned, would that not look funny when you enter the country with the K1 visa...

I think if they ask you about it you can just tell them you bought a return because it was the cheaper option. They probably see that a lot. I hope so anyway because that's what we're doing!

My fiance's at the Dublin airport, taking off in less than an hour. Even though he's flying Continental, his gate didn't allow for immigration in Dublin. Instead, he'll be POE'ing in Newark. Strange. I'm glad I didn't fill out the POE line on all my AOS forms yet.

Basically he rocks up with his passport and K1 visa and a completed form (ss-5) and bam. Card ordered. Trust me. I got my SSN about 2 1/2 weeks after i arrived on the K1, I didn't have a issue. HOWEVER, some SSA's aren't aware of the K1 rule which is why the guide recommends you take the printouts they have listed to show the SSA officer THEIR rules

Now on the SS application form it says "If you are not a U.S. citizen and do not have DHS work authorization, you must prove that you have a valid non-work reason for requesting a card." So are we going to be able to get him a card before our EAD is approved? What do they consider to be a valid non-work reason?

This is such a great thread with sooo much information, I will definitely be making use of it over the next month or two! My fiance just got his K-1 last week and we have a ticket to the US for him on June 23rd. Our wedding isn't until August 6 but we've been considering getting legaly married the week he arrives just to get the AOS/EAD paperwork underway as soon as possible. Has anyone here done this themselves?
