  1. Hi all, I have a question for anybody who cares to answer. I have filed the I-129F form back in September and received the first notice about 2 weeks later just as expected. It seems, though that the second notice should have arrived by now since it has nearly been 3 months. I was just wondering how long everybody had to wait from their first notice to second. Thanks!

  2. Sorry, I wasn't clear. I didn't mean to get a job for the remaining days you are off, I meant get a whole new job. You say you're working 1 out of every 5 days...can you use those other 4 days to look for a new, different job that pays more and is more steady?

Yes I can, and I have been doing so for several months now. I just have not found another job that would be a lateral move or better. While the job is sometimes inconsistent like this it sure does pay better than any other retail job I have had.

  3. Are you in a position, on the days where you do not work, to look for more permanent work?

    Good luck.

I already work both weekend days as part of my current job...anywhere from 10 to 16 hours each day. So, I don't really see any job willing to hire me for the three days I am off since they are not weekend days. I have worked retail for 10 years previous to this and I know that the odds of getting a job are scant at best if you do not have availability on the weekends.

  4. In my particular situation I cannot get a second job because my current job requires me to show up every single day to find out if I have work or not. Therefore if I have a second job that schedules me on a day I am supposed to be committing to my current job then I will not be able to work that second job, thus getting fired from it. Also, I have never had to draw unemployment before if that counts for anything...

  5. Hi, I have a full-time job with a satellite installation company and have been employed with them for a year now. Work is slowing down right now and I am finding myself working only 25% of my work week (1 out of 4 days). Can I file for unemployment for this short period of time without it affecting the I-129 filing? I have some money saved up to where I could survive without drawing unemployment, but the way I see it is that the money I have currently saved up is going to be spent on my wedding, moving expenses and the rest of the visa filing fees.

Any advice would be really appreciated! Thanks for your time.
