Hi All,
Just wanted to share my good news. My fiancee just passed her interview at the GuangZhou embassy!
I'm so relieved and excited at the same time. It's been a long seven months and countless paper work
on both sides.
Thanks to everyone's help and support here. It would not have been such smooth sailing if it wasn't for
this forum.
Here's lots of luck and good thoughts to those who's still waiting for their interview. Best of luck!

Wow that was fast. Yep the new packet instruction still has the requirement for telegraph codes.
Weird, I sure hope they don't still use telegraph.
Anyway, there's a tool here you can find the codes: http://www.njstar.com/tools/telecode/
Thanks!
It might be an old document set - check the expiration date on the form.
Also check out the link I gave for the GUZ IV packets and forms - those are the current ones - I'm thinking you've got old stuff.
Let me know if the newer forms still have the telegraphic code - they're NOT SUPPOSED TO have that, any more. Here's some info on telegraphic codes - http://www.chinafamilyvisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69&view=findpost&p=26117
and yes, the China Post Office maintains 'the book' of all telegraphic codes, since most China Post Offices handle telegraph communications.
Good Luck !

Hi Guys,
I have a related question but not really about the online form. My fiancee got the p4 packet and the instruction
about the form DS-156 says to include telegraph code for her chinese name. What's that about?
Does she actually have to go to the post office to look this up? Anybody know what this is used for ?
Just wondering.
Thanks.

BTW, I contacted GuangZhou embassy and they told me my fiance would need police certificates from both Beijing and Hongkong. I guess they still consider them two different systems.
I understand. Just want to make sure. Thanks for your reply. -

Hong Kong has been a part of China again for about 11 years. Once police certificate covers all of China. -
Hi there,
I know this is a old thread and hopefully someone still sees this.
This is probably a fairly common question but I couldn't find an answer after some searching.
My fiancee currently lives in Beijing and she worked for a little more than a year in Hongkong . Would she need to get a police certificate from both cities ? Or would one from Beijing be sufficient for both ? I'm not sure if Guangzhou embassy would still consider Hongkong a different country ?
Thanks!
The one police report will cover all of China. -
Whoa, it's late for me now, but I just had to pop in because a lot of congratulations are in order!!!
So that's 4 NOA2s for you guys today (or tomorrow night)?! Macaroni, Billz, Rito, and lilacvioletiris - CONGRATULATIONS
I knew this was coming
And for everyone still waiting, I'm hopeful for another "avalanche" soon, no worries!!!
PS - I called the NVC today to find out if our case was received yet, and it was not. I guess 2 days is kind of optimistic. Hehe.
Thanks everyone. Best of luck to all of you. I'm sure yours is coming soon!

Hi guys,
This morning I woke up to a SMS message on my phone. It said your case xxxxxx has been updated. I could not wait to jump on my email, sure enough there was also an email message that said: We have approved your petition! NOA2 !! I'm so excited! I most definitely did not expect it so soon. I was expecting around February some time to get this.
The confusing part was when I checked online, my status went straight to Post decision activities. I thought that it would go through the previous few steps first. I guess that "interview" does not refer to the interview at the consulate as the status jumped through it.
Anyway just wanted to share this news. For those who filed in October, yours is probably coming soon! Good luck!

Yes , by "fake" I do mean non-legal ceremony. It's really just for show to satisfy the family and relatives.
I'm not an expert in Chinese culture, but I think it's quite common for pre-wedding photos in traditional costumes and various family and ceremonial trappings that would have no bearing on legal eligibility for marriage.I guess the only part i'm confused about is the OP's use of the word "fake." If by fake they mean non-legal ceremony in China, then I'm not sure why it would be an issue.

Alright I'll join in the party. I just found this very useful thread.
See my sig for my progress so far.
Glad to see some people already getting their NOA2, that's fast!
Does the location of the fiance affect the speed ? My fiance is in China.
I can hardly wait to see other October filers getting their approvals. One day closer to each of us having the first step of this process done! Go CSC Go! -
Yes I already filed for K1, so getting married first will not be an option.
Anyway getting CR-1 wasn't the plan to begin with. We didn't want to wait for getting married and then have to wait for the visa.
That would have been the longer option for us.
I don't understand -- why can't you get married in China -- you know, for real. And then just file for a CR-1.It's a much superior visa to the K-1, any day.
-
Thanks, yeah that makes sense. We're not going to do any marriage certificate or anything official.
Anyone else who's gone through the same thing with any advice?
Thanks.
Don't do anything that can be construed as officially married or your K1 petition would not be applicable. Have a big party/reception. -
Hi all,
Sorry if this topic has been discussed before , but I wanted to ask everyone's opinion about doing overseas wedding first. I'm sure this question applies to a lot of us here. I'm applying for K1 for my fiancee is in China. Since most of her family are there, it makes more sense to have wedding ceremony there. It's much easier for my friends and family to fly to china for wedding then for her family to come here. That would be nearly impossible.
Of course we can't really be legally married there, so the ceremony will have to be a "fake" one just for the sake of having a ceremony. We don't plan to have a big ceremony once she gets over here. I'm curious to hear what other people in a similar situation have done or plan to do ?
Thanks for any tips!
