  1. Hi all! We're in this group too. :)

I'm mobile so I don't want to edit the chart (don't want to mess it up) but we sent our packet on April 29 and have an NOA1 date of May 6.

We've seen nothing since then and our case number isn't working on uscis' website, but I think I read in this thread that I need the one on our biometrics letter. I didn't realize they were different so I'm glad to know something isn't just broken. :) That said, I haven't gotten a biometrics letter either and we're at a month today so I guess I'm going to have to call them if I want our case number. Blah.

Anyway, just wanted to join you all. :)

  2. Hi all! It's been awhile since I've been on VJ. :)

A little over a week ago, I gave birth to our first child. I've been reading over the process for obtaining her Canadian citizenship paperwork and was hoping someone here might have some BTDT for us.

Based on what I've read, it sounds like you can no longer file a registration of birth abroad and they want you to directly file an application for Canadian citizenship. The problem I'm running into is the fact that we're being asked to include two pieces of identification, one of which must have a photo included. She's a 9 day old baby. She doesn't have ID outside of her birth certificate, and certainly doesn't have any photo ID. We're also being asked to include two passport-style additional photos of her, which isn't impossible but seems horribly impractical for a baby so young (who's going to look different in six months anyway).

Do I really have to include all of that for a tiny baby? And if so, what kinds of things can you use for ID for an infant?

I really wish they had just left the registration of birth abroad process intact. dry.png

  3. Congrats and you're lucky. Many people have had the green card return to USCIS when they moved. The post office is not supposed to forward those. You must have family or friends at the old address.

Our lease at our former home isn't up yet and the forwarding date isn't active yet. We moved early because this month is going to be extremely busy for us. Thank you!

GREEN CARD APPROVED! Only took 8 months and 18 days from mailing in the application. Nice work USCIS!

Just got a text not 5 minutes after my last post that our case status had been updated. WooHoo, we're in card production now!!!!

Ours was transfered within days of Chicago getting the application I realized later, but we didn't get the notice until Dec 16th.

    Congratulations to you both!

  4. Does she remember the names of the schools? Most people can recall that information. If so, I would do a Google search of the school name and the area to see if it rings any bells. If not, I might try, "[type of school] schools in [city]" and go from there. As far as exact dates go, I would just be as accurate as possible - if she remembers month/year, I would write that. If it's only the year, write that.

  5. That's impressive! I remember when I did my K-1 about 3 years ago, it took about 5 months from when they got my packet 3 to get an interview.

Yeah, this! We were lucky when we got one four months from our NOA2 date - the next day all they had were ones 6 months from our date. It makes me happy to read that they've picked up the pace!

  6. Congratulations! I really hope they are... CSC received our file December 21 apparently, so we're officially over 6 months now too. Maybe I'll call tomorrow. I'm not sure what to say - it's been so long since I've had to call USCIS.

I'm mostly nervous because if they keep dragging their feet, my medical may get thrown out. It was done June 15 of last year, so they're cutting it very close. :( I really don't want to have to do another one, especially since July is already busy enough with our trip to Canada.
