  1. I'm out! And no I don't mean out of the closet... not that there's anything wrong with that...

Ok yeah I am feeling a little high at the moment... I knew it would happen this week and sure enough when I called she said it left today... So our interview should be around Christmas...

Billy, She asked me why you didnt answer the phone when she called you.... it was the same # that you got on caller ID and it still has the same message when you call it...

The best estimate at this point if someone gets Actual AP is to expect a month and if less than that its great... nothing can be done to speed up the FBI check... nothing .. so dont let it get to you if you are in it.. treat it like a rip tide... just go with it and it will let you go before too long... fighting it just wears you out and does no good....

Congratulations Scott!!! Glad you needed to be, and were, outed only from NVC...not that there's anything wrong with that... :) I figured/hoped it would be today for you. Strange that she asked that??? The reason I didn't answer the phone was simple--I was down the hall and heard the phone only on the last ring or two, so--just missed the call. I would like to ask her "why no voice-mail?" :bonk: Oh well it all turned out ok - was one of the biggest "whew" moments in life.

    Happy trails!

Way to go, Scott! You join Paul and I now... we are just a few days ahead of you and now waiting to contact the consulate to confirm receipt... here's to hoping we did our time and there will be no further delays! Best wishes to you and yours and keep us updated. :) Malena

  2. My fiance's visa has been stuck in London since the end of July and we haven't heard anything from the embassy. Anyone know of the best way to contact the embassy?

I called the DOS on ours a few times and they told me it had not been received by the embassy. Odd thing is we got our packet 3 letter today dated Oct 3rd and postmarked the 14th. I called the DOS 3 times this month and every time they said the embassy didn't have it. Seems the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.

I'd still take the advice on calling the DOS. I would also look into how to contact the embassy directly.

The NVC told me last night when they informed me our petition was finally released from AP that the US consulate's number in London is (dialing from the US) 011 44 2074999000. I hope this helps you. Good Luck and keep us posted. :) Malena & Paul

  3. Our petition was approved more than a month ago however we haven't received Packet 3 or heard anything from the US Consulate. I'm starting to wonder if our petition is stuck at the NVC for AP. Can anyone tell me how I can find out if this is the case?

Call the NVC at 603 334-0700. They are open 8:00am to 12midnight EST. If you get a busy signal, keep trying. When you do finally reach an operator, you will need to supply them with your USCIS receipt number, names and date of births of both the petitioner and the beneficiary. Ask the operator the status of your petition... you should ask if you are in AP. If not, then ask when it was sent to the consulate. Also, get your Case #, you are going to need this when you contact the consulate or the DOS. Good luck on your journey. :) Malena & Paul

  4. We just found out today that after 27 days in AP, our petition is on its way to London... hang in there, Steve S and the rest. Call them now... you may be surprised. We are here for you... this uphill battle is not over by a long shot yet. Prayers out that the rest will be freed soon! Much love and prayers to be reunited with your loved ones soon. xxx :) Malena

  5. 4 weeks seems to be the average in AP. I was stuck for 28 days. Hang in there guys...looks like next week will be your week. (positive thinking)

Friday will be a month and that seems to be the average as you said... I am hoping that we dont end up in AP at the consulate as well.. thats another 90 days or so of a delay...

I know she wont be here this year based on how long it takes to get through the consulate....

ScottThuy, Friday will be a month for us as well. We are trying to remain positive that this will be the end of it for all of us that got stuck between 22 September and 24 September. With any luck, and lots of prayers, perhaps our loved ones will be returned to our arms by Christmas. In addition to everything else, I am writing my letter to Santa too... it can't hurt LOL :) Again, trying to remain positive and focus on the end result, not this awful, awful experience. It is making us all crazy. Perhaps it would be less of a headache if they would tell us why they are holding our petitions! Please remember, you are not alone... will be here to offer whatever encouragement we can for each other. If all this wasn't bad enough, Royal Mail in the UK is prepared to go on strike! It just keeps getting better and better (she says while humming the Benny Hill closing theme)... you have to laugh to keep from crying. Hang in there and keep the hope alive. Malena :)

  6. This sucks.

    Well said Steve

I dropped by to check on you Scott, sorry you are still stuck!

Hang in there Steve S... and the rest that are stuck in AP at NVC... we aren't the only ones... all we can do at this point is keep bugging them, but stay strong and focused on the end result... hurry up and wait! UGH! It is frustrating, it sucks, but there is nothing more we can do about it. At least we know we are not alone. 24 days for us today... next Friday marks 30 days for us. Here is hoping that what we have read holds true and that the 30 day mark is the pivotal point and they begin moving again. Paul, my fiance, brought up a good point, use this time to get our stuff together for the next leg of this horrific ride so we can be one step ahead of them... that is all we can do. AND it is ridiculous that they cannot tell us why our petitions are being held. This is our information, this is our lives they are messing with... we should have a right to know. There needs to be some change in this process so others that come behind us do not have to go through this mess. In my opinion, this is the worst experience ever. Malena :)

  7. 3-1/2 weeks of AP for me now. One week ago my congressional rep made an inquiry, but still AP when I called last night.

I wonder if eventually when the file gets to Moscow, they might expedite my interview date ahead of people with Noa-1 dates 2 months after mine, who received shorter USCIS wait and no AP.

Desperately wanting to see my woman in January.

The congressional liason said that they cant really do anything more than inquire and they cant make a direct impact on NVC but the fact is that an inquiry is noted in the file when it is on an investigators desk.. and the investigator usually gets it off of thier desk ASAP once an inquiry has been made.

Here's to hoping it gets out soon! I am with you in this hell, Steve S. Ours has been in 23 days today and no word on when it will move. Hang in there and hopefully yours will be off to Moscow soon and mine off to London. Hoping to see my man in January as well for our wedding planned on the 28 January, 2010... :) Malena

  8. How do you get a hold of a congressional liason? I am prepared to write, call, email, whomever if our petition is not out of AP by the end of the month. 21 days today and this is really getting on my nerves. My name is extremely uncommon, so no false positive returns are possible. I had fingerprints done for the FBI when I was 17 and worked for a daycare center; it was required as a condition of my employment. I have nothing else... no parking tickets, no moving violations, nothing. This is so frustrating! And my father is getting sicker and our wedding date is just 105 days away... I am keeping that day regardless and we will just have to start the process over on the I-130 and K3 UGH!! Good luck to all of you. I hope we will be free of this nightmare soon. And may others not fall in the same trap. Malena :)

Do a search online for your congressional rep for your district. The rep will have a website and you can email them, call them or as in my case drop by since the office is two blocks away. Each congressional representative has a specific person to address these issues...

Thx ...Gald i found yall too....How did you get your 3rd packet from embassey without them recieving you stuff yet?

They are already out... several folks come back to help those that just got in AP.

Thank you so much for the help, ScottThuy! I will do a search and see what I can find :) May we all have an end to this nightmare soon and be reunited with our loved ones sooner rather than later. :) Malena

  9. Just got off the phone with my Congressional liason and he said they told him the exact same thing they have been telling me and others for weeks... word for word... they just did it in writing. They said I am in AP and there is no timeframe for this. He said it is usually an FBI background check and that it takes as long as it takes and there is nothing absolutly nothing that can be done to speed it up... And after it gets through there is no way to expedite to make up any lost time from waiting...

He said he has seen them take more than a year to get done when in AP and lately it is only a month or so... 3 weks today.. I expect another week or so... then 2 months more for the interview..

He did say that usually when an inquiry is made that they try to get the file off of thier desk ASAP. So even though they said AP and no time frame it may have actually helped it to get through a little faster. We will see and I will let you folks know what I hear.

  10. We join the rest of the ranks of you in AP hell. 20 days in the hole now and no further answers as to why. Good to see others are getting out, so there is hope for us as well. It is just depressing to see those petitions that come in after ours leaving... time is ticking and we are just sitting here. Deposits made, location scheduled, invitations printed, international friends and family have booked hotels and made flight arrangements, wedding date set for 28 January, 2010. They cannot stop us from getting married... they can just make it very difficult. It is an awful thing to plan a wedding via web-conferences with your fiance!

Let our petitions go, we pray! Set us free too!

Thank you all for not letting us feel so alone in the process as sometimes we do. Others do not understand the emotional rollercoaster of this journey. Good luck to everyone for a speedier process at the next leg of this trip. Look out to the rest of you that were released ahead of us, we are going to catch up! LOL

  11. Thank you everyone for all the information on here, it has been so very helpful. I hope that my Paul and I will fall in to the same boat and once we get out of AP at NVC, our process will move quickly. Wedding date planned for 28 January 2010, and I think we can still make that date, so long as our file begins to move again. We have everything ready to send back to the consulate the moment Paul receives his packet. He has in possession or is in process of receiving this week, all of his documentation. I do have one question... what constitutes "proof of engagement"? I gave him a promise ring, but that was the only exchange. Would one of our wedding invitations be appropriate? (LOL they are not invited to attend, unless they can get him here before Christmas and his birthday - joke there, of course, not bribing gov't officials).

Best of luck to all and may you be reunited with your loved ones soon and never have to say long good-byes again!

  12. I talked to someone from my congressman's office this week. She seemed really knowledgable about the visa process. She was advised to call back next week and expected an approval by that time. We'll see. I was somewhat encouraged. She said my case was probably flagged automatically because I am a federal employee. For whatever reason, she said government employees usually take a little longer for processing. Has anyone else hear heard anything like this?

It does seem like most of the recent posters in this forum have made it out. Could this mean that the NVC is catching up with their backlog? ScottThuy, I hope you and I both make it out this week. Remember, Monday is a federal holiday.

Quick question, Steve S, perhaps you do not know. Do relatives of government employees take longer in AP as well? It seems that everyone else we have encountered on here with the NOA2 dated 21 September, 2009 from VSC and destined for London all left within a few days of reaching NVC... all, except for mine and my Paul's. Ours has been there since 23 September and we have been told we are in AP as well. My sister works for FPS under DHS and she used to work for CIS 4 years ago. I have very little contact with her, it has been that way since I was 17 years old. I did call her when Paul and I got engaged and her attitude was, "great, now I have to report this at work that my sister is marrying a 'foreign national'." Just a curiosity question, as there should be no other reason why our file should be held up. We were fortunate with the processing through CIS, it took just 66 days. Thank you in advance for your reply. Malena :)
