  1. ; Thanks!!

But ummm, a X-ray? What for? I am just asking because that I didn't know. Not that I've got something to hide.. Im just curious why they want to have a X-ray...

Nothing to worry about :-) the Dr. in Ansterdam is very nice by the way, when I was there I wasnt the onlyone who was sent by the US conulate so they know exaclty what they need to do.

I remember I was soooo nervous since I got the N1H1 virus when I had my medical examination, I needed some vaccines, and because I was sick the Dr. couldnt give them to me that day. It wasnt a problem! I got my visa approved and later on when I arrived here in the US we sent the vaccination record with the "Adjustment of Status" package, so even if you need extra vaccines or ar sick there is nothing to worry about :-)

  2. Thanks Adje! I'm sure you'll have it soon too!!

    Hi Liz, and everyone,

I received today by mail a NOA the case tupe is I-485 "request for applicant to appear for interview". I was actually waiting for my green card to arrive soon but this confuses me a bit, why do some people need to go to a second itnerview when we already went for and interview in Amsterdam? anyway, I guess its different for everybody. They do not request any different documents from the ones we already sent in our initial package, they do ask to bring along the EAD which I got some weeks ago.

I wonder now how much time will it take after the interview to get the green card.... BTW my interview has been scheduled on October 28.

Hope you are all doing great,

    Adje

  3. Hey everyone....sorry it's been awhile since I stopped by...just way too much going on lately!

Well, it appears that our call to USCIS on 9/3/10 did some good......Pat's greencard was approved and production of it ordered yesterday!!! So FINALLY we're done with USCIS for a while!!

Jeannine - Congrats on the interview date!! It'll be here before you know it!

Congratulations Liz!! It was about time. Im happy for you both. I'm still waiting for my green card, but your good news has put a smile on my face as I think it wont take much time form me to get it soon :-)

  4. Yeah we are definitely checking every day now. We just got the actual letter [saying the same thing as the e-mail] in the mail yesterday.

Johnny has had his social for some time now. He was able to get it with his work authorization card, but he has to get it updated because it says for "work purposes only" so once we get his green card we will go back to the social security office to have it updated.

I read it was possible to get the SS number from the moment of my arrival, but I needed to have a good reason to ask for it before getting your EAD. Now I have the EAD and I can ask for the SSN. I also read its possible to update your information at any time, for example if your name changes, which Im planning to do when I get the resident card and you do not have to pay for it.

  5. So, good news everyone! Johnny received an email yesterday from USCIS saying that the production of his card was ordered August 10 and that he should be receiving it in the mail within 30 days!!!

Good to hear! I got mine already! I received the same e-mail where it said it could take up to 30 days and it took only 5 days! so just keep on checking your mailbox this week, you might get it soon.

Anyone knows what do we need to do to apply for a Social Security number? do I need to wait to get the resident card or I can already apply for it if I got the employment card? Im trying to look for information on this but its hard!

  6. Great news yesterday night! around 10.50pm I got an email with the notification on my I765 , APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION, they have ordered teh production of the card and I should receive it in the next 30 days! I am so glad I was getting a bit frustrated... I know I have to be patient when it comes to USCIS

Hi, I applied for the I765 at the smnae time that I requested the I485. I have taken a look at the timelines from the USCIS and it seems that it takes 56 average to receive the Employment Authorization, here in Miami. I know someone ho got it 30 days after the Biometrics!! :wow: so Im really counting on getting it soon.

Thanks for asking about my interview, it actually went pretty well and Im feeling confident, I will hear if I get the job in about 2 weeks, so this will give me a bit more time to get the emplyment document, I was not asked during the interview if I had my work permit yet so I didn't anything.. IM crozzing my fingers for both things job & green card.

Please let us know when your husband gets his, he has been waiting for a while now, hope he gets it soon....

Ohhh and about the match, it was quite exciting! there were indeed plenty of Spanish followers but since I live just 2 blocks away from the Dutch consulate and the people who work at the Consulate live close by there were plenty of people supporting The Netherlands and wearing Oranje T-Shirts... it was cool!!

  7. Did you also file for the work authorization card or just the green card? I'm curious about your job interview and how that went! Keep us posted! My husband is also still waiting on his green card and he filed back in January!

I bet you guys were surrounded by Spain supporters down in Miami! We went to an Irish pub for the game here just so that way the crowd would be mainly Dutch supporters! haha

I've read about that as well here on the forums, but I believe the people in those cases were more often than not being scammed from the very beginning.

Good luck on finding a job and settling into your new home in Texas!

  8. Hi Everyone! It its indeed very sad that The Netherlands lost yesterday :crying: I was pretty sure they would win and actually made a couple of bets!! My husband supported Spain, just because he wanted to give me a hard time :bonk: hahaha....

I got to tell you I am a bit nrevous since tomorrow I have a job interview and I am still waiting for my green card! I didn't want to wait anymore to start looking for a job so when I saw a good opportunity I sent my CV and after a phone interview that went well I have a real interview tomorrow! Im very exctited and happy that this is going well, but I just hope that my green card gets here soon!...

I know I don't write much in this forum, but I do look for info once in a while and I love to see how people keep on updating their cases even after they get the K1 approved...

Have a great week everyone! it is extremely hot in Miami... oohhh my mother in law is coming for a visit this thursday  (from San Antonio) :D I really like her!

  9. Yeah, looking back at the calendar it took them right at a month to get our interview date to us... We had to wait on his American police report though since he lived here for seven years.

Thank you so much for your answers! I have checked the timelines and I think I will get some news then between today and wednesday next week (I hope)

I do not have a vaccin history, will this be a big problem? should I go to the GGD or my huisarts and ask for basic shots? as I grew up in Mexico I do not have these records and when I moved here to NL I was never asked for them... any suggestions?

Liz, Thanks so much! I really appreciate you asking Pat, I was trying to make an app with my doctor or the GGD and they can help me but I have to wait like 2 weeks! this is starting to stress me a lot! getting all the papers ready to leave such as the tax office, sell my furniture, end health insurance, transfer pension funds, cancel telephone...really I feel Im loosing it.

I just got a telephone call fromt he consulate asking me if Im planning on goign to the US again before the end of the year and yes I have plans to go to San Antonio for thanksgiving, and I come back 1st Dec and then they told me this was going to delay my interview since they wont be able to give me a date in december!! :crying: this is going to change my plans... I was planning to take a month to travel around before going to the US... I might be worrying a bit too much, its just that I feel very nervous and have to deal with so much.....

  11. We went when it was pouring down rain too! The Pegasus ride is by far the scariest coaster ever! I think Johnny said they tore it down though.

We thought about visiting miniature Holland but never got around to it.

The Efteling is just 20 minutes away from where I live! :-) the best time of the year to go and visit it is late April or May, the park is then full with tuilps!! it looks amazing. My favorite cities in NL are: 'S-Hertogenbosch (of course) Maastricht, Heusden, Arnhem & Utrecht

I checked today if I had received anything from the consulate... nothing yet, can anyone tell me how much time does it take to get the interview invitation once you sent the papers to the consulate?

  12. Hi everyone! and thank you Liz for letting me know about this Dutch/American Couples thread

I met David 12 years ago in Mexico City but lost contact for many years until we found eachother in Facebook, some months after we regained contact he came to Holland and about a year ago we began "dating" I have been travelling a lot to the US in the past months, so much that everytime I have to clear customs and they see my file in their computer I get asked lots of questions

Our paper work is still in process,I do not have the date for my interview yet, I just sent the package3 to the consulate and I hope to get some news from them before the end of this year........ we plan to get married in Florida, where he currently lives although he is originally from San Antonio, and we will be living in Miami.

Im on FB also set in private mode but feel free to send me a message to add you :-) acobielles@gmail.com

YAY...glad you came by! Welcome to our little thread...lol!

You say David is from San Antonio....is it the one in Florida or the one in Texas? I'm from San Antonio, Texas that's why I ask..hehe!

I'm on FB and set to private too but I'll be sure to send you a message when I get home!

Glad to hear that your almost to the end of your journey....the rest of what you have to do now is pretty easy. From what I've heard from those who've been through the interview already, it's a very easy thing and the longest part is the waiting to be called to a window...lol! Please let us know how things are going.....hopefully you'll have your interview very soon!!!

I have been living in Tilburg for about a year now, but I used to live in Den Bosch. I work at Tilburg University.

I am Mexican/Dutch (both citizenships) living in Holland for 8 years now... soon in the US!! I think if you look for me in FB with my e-mail address you will find me.

David went to Alamo Heights High School '88 and then to Baylor '93 Accounting... are you also from San Antonio?

  14. I just received a letter from the American Consulate in which they tell me I can start preparing my papers for the interview! Im very happy I thought it would take more time to hear from them but it seems they dont have much to do or we have been very lucky!

In the letter there is a link to the famous "package3", is also states that Police records must be brought during the interview in Amsterdam but they will ask the Police for them, so I dont have to worry about it

My heart was beating so fast when I found the envelope between my mail....... Thank you God!
