  1. Many thanx!

I have spoken with the Spanish consular in Israel for an hour and he told me that he cannot issue me any kind of certificate because The embassy and the minstry of Justice are two different offices and the non criminal certificate is a very personal document that in some countries even could not be issued personally to the citizen in hands.

In the Uk is very well organize not like in Spain :)

    again, many thanx!

    Dear All,

This is a very challenging question for all of you :

My fiancee is Israeli and she studied in Spain 5 years, obtaining a temporary student residence ( not a citizenship) . She left Spain a year a go and the residence card '' tarjeta de residencia de estudiante'' has expired.

As per the Spanish Ministry of justice, it is impossible to provide a criminal record for a person who is not a resident anylonger. Who can help me to get the criminal record?

I emailed the US embassy in Israel, they emailed back, told me that I should contact the Israeli embassy in Madrid. So I called the Israeli embassy and they have addressed me to call the spanish embassy, the spanish embassador in Israel couldn't help me either. I called the ministry of justice in Spain, but they have addressed me to the Israeli embassy in Madrid.

Bottom line it is a closed circle.

    Anyone?

If you have contacts with the Spanish Embassy in Israel, I would get back in touch and ask them to confirm, in writing, that Spain and Israel do not have a reciprocity agreement for Israeli nationals with previous, legal residence in Spain to obtain a police certificate.

I would also be careful about calling it a 'criminal record' because you really, really don't want a criminal record - but the opposite!

I can't imagine you would be the very first Israeli National who's lived in Spain and applied for a US visa, so I'm sure that an official letter from the Spanish Embassy would be proof enough that you cannot produce this document. If you are really concerned, contact the NVC (at least, I think this would be your best bet - anyone?)

ETA: If you can, ask the letter to confirm that your Spanish residence was legal, as a student, since illegals can't get certificates you want to make sure the US visa process doesn't query your status in Spain as the reason you cannot get the certificate.

  2. Apperently, the Israeli embassy do not do this kind of certificate for me? what shall I do? to whom I shall speak?

    From here

Non-Spanish Former Residents of Spain: Non-Spanish former residents of Spain applying outside Spain must contact their respective countries' embassy in Madrid, Spain. The embassy should then contact the Spanish Ministry of Justice if that country has a reciprocal agreement with Spain for police certification. The address for the Spanish Ministry of Justice is:

    Ministerio De Justicia

Registro Central de Penados y Reveldes

    C/San Bernardo 45,

    28071 Madrid, Spain

  4. URGENT!!!! need some help to answer that requierment:

Copy of Certificate(s) for the US Citizen if either has been previously married.

Where can I get it if I live in Ohio Twinsburg? And what is that certificate has to say.

I could get only a certificate from the Judge that I never applied for marriage during the past 5 years in the state of OH. Is that enough? ????????

Have you been married before? if so, then your Divorce certificate would be needed to provide evidence you are no longer married

No, I wasn't married before. what exactly type of certificate I must provide and what it should state.??????????????????????????

  5. Tanx to all of u!!!

    Hi to all!

I just want to say that this website is amazing and would like to thank you all for being so attentive and patient regarding my questions. MANY THANX!!! :star:

A good sample of the cover letter needed. anyone has one ?

is it a must to explain our case in the letter?

    Regards Ana & Boris

There is a sample of cover letters here. Cover letters are entirely optional. By the time I did the petition, the AOS and then a second AOS for a K-2 to follow I got tired of the whole thing and it totally lost the "scrapbooking" appeal for me. My last cover letter was written in pencil on a blank piece of paper at the post office. It said "Please expedite, applicant needs to leave USA on Sept. 8 for college" I mailed it July 17 and we received his green card September 5th. We had his AP about 3 weeks before that. I guess it worked.

(PS we had also followed up with the local office who immediately did the biometrics, so there was more involved than a scribbled cover letter, but just so you know, there is no "right" or "wrong" cover letters. VJs example is as good as any you will find)
