  1. well, I went awhile ago with my husband carrying with me my passport and my SSS, we went at chase bank,,,unfortunately the agent told us to go to DMV first to have my CA ID, coz they need a secondary ID,I told him that I dont have my EAD yet so its impossible for me to get one, and he told me that with SSS im fine, but I dont know... since I went check out the website of DMV, it says, EAD or GC ...now we dont know what to do, we need a bank account as one of our proofs :(

Hi i also have problem like that.. My interview is on tuesday and i dont have proof of joint account. We went to the bank but they didnt allow us to put my name on his bank accout cuz i dont have my ssn. I applied ssn for the 2nd time and im still waiting ...I will go for my interview even i donthave proof of joint account.

  2. I am so sorry for your loss (F) (F)

They should be able to tell you at the interview if you are approved or not. Explain to the interviewer that your father has just passed away and you need to travel to the Philippines as soon as you can make travel arrangements to attend the funeral. If your AOS is approved, ask the interviewing officer to put the I-551 stamp in your passport - that is basically the same as the green card and will allow you to return to the US the same as the actual 'green card' would do. Bring along proof of your father's passing as evidence for the emergency. If you do not receive a decision right away you can still travel with an Advance Parole - if you don't have one, you can apply right away for an emergency AP. Again, you will need to bring proof of your father's passing.

Good luck at your interview, and again, I am very sorry about your father's passing.

Thank you so much, i really appreciate.. Yes they will fax the death certificate.

  3. Did you try adding her to the utility bills (electric, gas, phone, cable, etc.)? I was able to do that without any SSN.

No we didnt tried. I'ts gonna be late, her interview is on Tuesday.

Is she on your health insurance or beneficiaries of any sort of retirement or life insurance? Joint bank accounts aren't the ONLY way to prove a life together.

Not yet.. Shes here for almost 6 months. Need SSN for that.

    Thanks

  4. My wife interview for adjustment of status will be next week. We dont have proof of joint account. She got here last Dec 2009. We went to the bank but they didnt allow to put her name on my account since she doesnt have her SSN. We applied twice for ssn. The first application was denied because her I-194 was expired so we had to wait for her employment permit, We applied for the second time last may 25. We called SSn office they said it takes 30 days, they have to forward it again to department of homeland for verification. Everything we need to do require SSN even getting state ID.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
