  1. MVA is becoming my nightmare.

I've been there 4 times already. Today was when I thought I was going to finally have my MD license. I got one that expires when my visa does!

They also told me I can drive with my French license for a year from the date I arrived in the US. Were you told the same?

They had never dealt with a "case" like mine and they were most confused.

Can anybody let me know their stories?

  2. Hi,

A question for all the knowledgable people out there. I got my greencard yesterday but it was in my maiden name. They went by my passport. So any suggestions what to do next? I'm wondering if my SSN will be in my maiden name as well. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there

Your SSN will be in your maiden name until you change it. I'll assume that your passport is in your maiden name as well as you have processed your USCIS documents. You need to take your passport and your original copy of your marriage certificate to your local Social Security office, that way you can change your name to your married name. You can also send in the information, but they require the original, or a certified copy.

    Check the following link: http://ssa-custhelp.ssa.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/315

Also, I would wait to get my state id (driver's license, etc.) as most forms of id require a SSN to process. Get that done first then you can have the others in your married name.

    Good luck!

  3. I'm in the final stages of my AOS; awaiting the interview. I want to travel back home to Canada to attend a wedding, but am fearful that I'd have to cut it short or change the date once I get my interview. My question is simple, do you get notified online for the interview date, or does a letter simply show up with the information. What I can see from other posts is in many cases a letter for the interview shows up shortly after your EAD and AP have been granted. I can't find anyone who has posted that they got notified through email, then the letter showed up shortly after that. I have received both my AP and EAD, so I am hopeful that I'll have a date soon. Can anyone share their experiences?
