  1. We are Canadian citizen but born in India.

To update with me: I was never in true AP, it was just actually processing.

abha37911: Were you or your spouse from another country originally? Certain countries always go into AP after approval in the interview stage, if you look at the Forum for Waivers/Administrative Processes, the list is there.

  2. We have employment base immigration Visa. Border Officer is going to stamp I-551 (valid for a year) stamp on my passport.

    1. Good to follow list - Do we need to declare the unaccompanied articles (house hold goods) while immigration landing?

    http://www.schumachercargo.com/docs/3299.pdf

    http://forms.cbp.gov/pdf/cbp_form_3299.pdf

    2. I think we need to report more than 10K and does not matter what form. Do we need to declare at the time of landing how much money we are planning to bring in next few months so we are not penalized by US-IRS or CRA (already paid taxes)?

    ------------------------------------

    http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/kbyg/money.xml

"You may bring into or take out of the country, including by mail, as much money as you wish. However, if it is more than $10,000, you will need to report it to CBP. Ask the CBP officer for the Currency Reporting Form (FinCen 105). The penalties for non-compliance can be severe.

“Money” means monetary instruments and includes U.S. or foreign coins currently in circulation, currency, travelers’ checks in any form, money orders, and negotiable instruments or investment securities in bearer form."

  3. We are moving with immigration visa. First we are doing landing then moving after a month. We are doing car import paperwork while landing.

Do we need to get "goods to follow" list stamped by US border officer that we can use while actual moving?

How about money declaration and later transfer to USA?

What type of VISA will you have - your profile does not indicate. Most moves do require a list of your belongings (Let's say you have a UHAUL). If you are accompanying your belongings a spreadsheet will do. For larger ticket items such as electronics they do ask for serial numbers (cannot remember if value is required)

What happens 99% of the time is that you have your list ready and they don't even look at it....Murphy's law :)

  4. We are planning to do landing and come back next day and permanently moving after 1 month.

Do we need a list of goods to follow list/items with price?

Is there any money declaration form that we need to fill so we can/will in future transfer money from Canada to USA without taxing as a part of immigration?

    Thanks,

  5. Thanks Alex. I agree with you but I asked American Honda to provide me compliance letter letter in case border officer ask.

There is no need for lien search for US paid vehicle.

I have photocopy US title and original was kept by US border when I was importing from US to Canada in 2005.

    List of document:

    1. US compliance letter

    2. Recall letter if possible

    3. US title

    4. US bill of Sale

    5. Canadian registration and insurance

I don't think a lien search is what you need. There will be a title document. Registration doesn't really mean much here in the US, mind you, I don't know what Canada does. In the US, if there's a lien the lien holder keeps the title and only releases it when the lien is paid off, at least in CO, CA (California that is) and WA (only places I've lived since coming to the US)

I'm not sure on this. I'm looking at (pending visa of course) importing my wife's Protege. I think the key is the phrase "Meets All Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards". This may be on a label affixed to the car. For my wife's car I think I've seen this on the hood. If you have that I think you're fine. If not, then you'll need a letter from the manufacturer.

Of course, in your case it's a US spec vehicle so the labeling should be correct. If the label is missing though you'll need the letter based on the VIN just to prove it to them. I remember I had lots of entertainment trying to register my motorcycle in California because a couple of the VIN digits were getting rubbed off the compliance sticker, even though everything else matched the VIN that was stamped. Very annoying.

Here's the statement from the "horse's mouth": http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/faq%20site/pages/page2.html

If you find anything yourself, please post as I'm a couple of months from this particular entertainment myself.

    Thanks

    Alex.

  6. I have 2001 Honda accord which was bought/paid in usa and imported to Canada in 2005.

It has AB plate number and registration.

We are moving back to USA and taking same car back.

Do I need recall and compliance letter for US spec car for importing back to US?

Does AB registration (lien search?) good for proving car ownership?

  7. It's 6th week in AP for me and still waiting for passport.

I submitted non-availability and affidavit support for my birth ( not birth certificate). Just wondering, that may click the AP?

I born in India but having Canadian passport.

  8. Are you in Admin process or consulate waiting for any document from you?

Otherwise there is no reason for for taking so long.

    Hi Everyone,

    Can you guys give me your thoughts;

The Montreal consulate has had my passport and another document that they required since March 15th. I already had my interview and they told me I didnt have to travel to Montreal again. Just send your passport.

Since I haven't seen anything yet posted on the website (DHL), when can I expect to see something.

This waiting is driving me insane.

    Thanks,

    John

  9. Congratulate K and T. I have employment base immigration and very common last name - singh.

My wife was also born in India like you and moved to Canada in 2005. She became a Canadian citizen at the end of 2009. Her interview was last Tuesday and they mailed back her passport on Thursday.

It's wierd how they do AP for some cases while dont for others.

  10. I called DOS and they mentioned that "My case is still in AP in Consulate".

I asked him again that my case is still in Consulate. DOS officer said - Yes.

It surprised me that consulate holding so long without sending the case to other authorities for some check.

  11. It's very difficult to predict AP. It's better to prepare for AP, means do not make any plan till get passport in hand.

If you follow this forum then it seems people who born outside Canada get AP but not everyone.

So even though my wife has been a Canadian citizen for over a year and a half.. since she was born in India and lived there for the first 18 years of her life, is it safe to assume that she too will be in AP after her interview on 4/26?

  12. Ravi,

Can you share your citizenship and country of birth?

    thanks..

    Hello,

I got a email informing me that the passport was picked up from the consulate along with the way bill number to track the passport. I got a call this evening asking me to pick it up.

I am sure you will get it soon.

    Good luck.

  13. sweethreat, I hope you are not in AP. Did Visa officer give u timeline?

Can you please update with citizenship and country of birth? Sometime that makes lot of difference.

I had my interview and was approved on April 5th, as of today still nothing. The Department of State says my visa hasn't even been printed/stamped yet. :(

  14. imports4me.. did u get your passport or waybill number? Just wondering, can you share your citizenship and country of birth.

i haven't been notified for more AP or anything, i was told 3-4 days aswell but its now been 2 weeks exact and still no update on status.

  15. AP is done for you so it will not take long time to get your passport stamped. Does DOS/consulate email after AP is done? How did u find?

yes i am from bangladesh..and that was the reason they put me on ap..but gud thng u left your passport i kept my passport with and then send them again and now its taking forever to get my passport back..hope you will get it soon..and i believe DHL call everyone once they have the package

  16. Thanks xtreme. It seems it took 13-14 business days for your AP. Just wondering if you can share country of birth/citizenship.

Consulate kept my passport after interview but mentioned AP next day.

Do DHL call everyone when they receive passport?

little info on recent AP from montreal..i had my interview on st feb..n i was put on ap..but my ap was over on feb 17 and was asked to send my passport..so whoever is ap from montreal might get it done soon..

  17. I have employment base immigration interview on March 29th and got the "Welcome to USA" letter. Officer told me that you will get your passport in next 3-4 days. Next day I got email from same officer that my case has moved to necessary administrative processing and passport will not be delivered as mentioned at the time of interview.

I am Canadian Citizen from last 6 months but born in India. AP is a very random term that consulate used for many reasons. I have not option then waiting.

  18. I called American Honda for compliance letter for my American Honda accord which is paid long time back. American Honda is asking me any expired US registration to make sure car is register in USA at-least once. I kept this car in USA 4 yrs before moving to Canada but don't have a copy of old US registration.

I have copy of US title of car and US bill of Sale from dealer. Just wondering, do I still need compliance letter for importing this US car?

    Thanks,
