  1. Yes I was thinking Thursday flight into CJ (Holiday Inn express, reservations in advance thursday- tuesday)then friday medicals which means we can lay low for the weekend then monday go early to check the TB result and either get into visa interview same day or next day tuesday...I think with approval they may still not do visas same day, but that gives us the rest of the week for DHL. I see no reason for Lupita & kids to be denied, she was never married, they have a very real relationship & kids really like fiance! I have my fingers crossed for all of them!

Were you on a vacation to Cozumel? Isn't it nice??? American fiance & I will fly to Cozumel, pack up Lupita & kids, go to Cancun, fly to DF then onto Cd. J...eventually crossing at El Paso and flying to Minnesota...yipes now THAT is a trip!

Sounds like you have had a long waiting process for your fiancee as well...best wishes! I have a question for you, was she ever married? and if not, did you need to prove that since she had a child? I am wondering if we need to show proof of Lupita never marrying the kids dad.

It may take longer than a week now with K2s. My husband and my stepkids came through CJ in February. We had planned something similar time-line wise as you are planning, but their week in CJ turned into three. Thankfully they were staying with family!

When my husband (then fiance) went for medical with the kids, they only allowed him in and informed him that he has to have his visa approved before consulate will allow the kids to have their medical done and then their interview.

So, the first week was him getting his med. done and his visa interview, some days closed due to holidays the next week and the four day wait for the 13 yr old once my husband got his visa approval and a letter from the Consulate allowing the kids to have their medical the third week.

They got their visas at dhl on a wed. and crossed that night at 2am.

  2. Does anyone have information regarding the following?

    - My Mexican fiancee has legal sole custody of her daughter so bringing her should not be an issue, right?

    - Her daughter is 6, does she need to go to the interview, they live in Mexico City so the idea was to get her medical exam and send her right back home, as opposed to waiting 3 or 4 days in Juarez (poor girl)

    - Can the daughter and my fiancee fly to Juarez on a Monday, get the exams, fly home, and then my fiancee takes a bus back meets me their (Juarez) on say Friday and we go to the interview? Does anyone know if this sounds like it is a good idea?

    Thanks

If this is K1/K2, the K1 fiancee has to have their med. exam and interview, (visa approved) before the Consulate will issue the letter allowing the K2 child to even have their medical exam. Because the child is under 14, the child will have to go back to the Med. Office 2-3 days after their med. exam to have their tb test read, i.e., look at their arm. Then later that afternoon the results will be ready. Then the K1/K2 go the next day to have the interview primarily on the child's part.

My fiance and his three children just went through this two weeks ago. He said there were many young children at the Consulate, that they require fingerprints of the children and will ask them questions as well.

The Consular Officer asked my stepkiddos if they knew my bio kids and to describe them. Then they asked them questions about my relationship with them.

If I can be of any more help, please let me know!

  3. My fiance and I will be going to Juarez for her interview. Maybe I missed it, but why did you have to stay for 2.5 weeks? Thanks

    Bryan

He and his sons went Day1 for Medicals. He was told only he could get one and then go for his visa interview before they would repeat the procedure for his kids' k2s.

So he went on a Monday for medical, went Tuesday with results for interview. Was approved and told to pay at DHL. Did so and didn't receive anything Wed.. Thurs. or Friday. The next Monday was President's day. Went back to Consulate on Tuesday and was told they'd messed up. Finally gave him the document that day to have his kids do their medical. One of them is under 15 so even doing the Medicals on Wed., they had to to wait until Friday to read his TB.

Then wait until the following Monday (at 2 weeks in CJ at this point), went for kid's interviews, all approved. Then wait until Wednesday to pick up visas.

After that, it was smooth sailing, crossed Wed. night and jumped on a plane Thursday morning. Thank goodness he had family there, we could never have afforded a hotel for that long!

  4. So after being in C. Juarez for two and a half weeks now, my fiance and 3 soon-to-be stepsons were given the final thumbs up on their k1/k2 visas yesterday. Fiance picked his up today and the kids' packets are ready also and will be picked up tomorrow!

Crossing tomorrow night and flying from El Paso home on Thursday. SO excited!

If you have any K1/K2 questions about the Juarez Consulate, ask away. Thankfully he had family there or 2 1/2 weeks would have been super expensive!

  5. Okay, so I won't begin to try to understand the Consulate anymore. So J had his interview Tuesday and was told to pay at DHL but they didn't keep his passport. They kept our three k2's passports instead. They told him that when the packet was ready at DHL (which it still isn't) it would contain his visa and the letter authorizing the kids to get their medicals done and return for interview. But how are they going to give him his visa if he still has his passport?

Second, he heard on a local Juarez channel that if they give you a blue sheet it meant problems. He said that there was a blue sheet that the Consular had but that he was just check marking things off of it and now he's paranoid and has me all paranoid. They never gave him a blue sheet though, just said they had all the documents they needed and gave him the paper to pay at DHL.

Thanks for letting me vent. I'm just frustrated that he didn't realize he still had his passport until this afternoon when the Consulate was closed and he couldn't get through by phone. And now we have to wait until Tuesday because Monday is a holiday.

  6. I haven't heard from him yet so I am worried.

Congrats!!! Glad it went so smoothly!!! I hope to have a similar story to tell soon. I'm off to my daughter's wedding right now but if I hear from him I'll post when I get home.

Don't be worried yet! He said it was a mad house there today! Even said that they told him not to expect the package at DHL til Friday. They must be busy!

  7. Know anything more Trueimage?

My fiance called about 45 minutes ago. Said that the interview went smoothly but everything took a long time, that there was a ton of people there. They asked about his kids and took their passports as well as his. After the interview they told him to go pay at DHL, never specifying that his visa was approved....but paying at DHL is a good thing, right?

Anyway, they said that the info for the kids to get their medical would be in the packet at DHL so I told him to call as often as he can to see if it had come in.

Then the kids have to do their medical (two are 15 and under so they'll take longer) and then interview with them. This is going to be a 2 week process all said and done! Luckily he is staying with family and not racking up hotel bills.

I'm relieved but won't be content until he has his hands on his visa!

  8. My fiance is there today too. I couldn't find anything on the C. Juarez website but get this:

We are doing K1/K2 (3 of them!). They went for the medical today and they told him only he could do the medical (k1) and then has to go for his visa interview tomorrow. Only if he gets the visa approved will the Consulate give him a letter to give to the Med. Office to have the k2's have their medicals and then return to the Consulate later this week for their interview.

Anyone ever have this happened? It kinda makes sense in case the K1 visa gets denied so as to not put out so much money for the K2 medicals and visas.

    Thoughts?
