  1. Wow! This is the best birthday gift ever. My birthday and AOS interview on the same day.My interview was at the Houston office for 9:30am today. My wife and I got there at about 8:45am and we were called in by 9:00am. Our IO (Mr. Moore) called us and walked us into his office. He was an elderly looking man who took his time. Meanwhile, as we got into his office, he asked us to remain standing and then made us take the oath.

He then asked to see our driver’s license and upon showing him that, he said “ Same address? That is very nice”. He then went on talking about his former profession as a consultant then I told him my wife and I were one as well. Unbelievably, we began talking about computer systems and then our discussion led to different countries we’ve visited he then brought out the stamp to put on my passport. While doing that, I guess he got too engrossed in our conversation that he was almost stamping my passport with the 10Year green card before he now remembered that he had not verified the information on our G325 and I-485 and that we are only a few months married. He took my AP and EAD and then stamped my passport with the 1-year Green card and said the Card, which is valid for 2 years, should get to us in the mail within a few weeks. He also told us about removing the conditions on the card and then…off we went. He also made a comment saying “ your responsibility was to prove to me that you guys are truly married and you have proved it and made my job easy”. Good-bye he also said and off we went. Total time for the interview was approximately 7minutes plus another 20mins for chit chatting!

What I learnt from this interview was:

    (1) Go as prepared as you can be even though my IO never asked us for any evidence, not even 1

    (2) Go with the flow of the IO. If he/she is friendly, appear friendly as well but do not go over board or be too comfortable

    (3) For those worried about intent, I would not bother about that as what is most crucial is proving that the marriage is legit just like my IO told me. Especially in my case, I had left the country while married which clearly would have shown intent but that never came up in the interview.

    (4) Above all, have faith, pray and God will show up in your case.

  4. Hi,I'm also a september filer....glad to be here :star:

    Hello VJ family,

(1)Taking a look at my timeline below is there any need to worry since my other cases have not been attended to?

(2)Is this a sign that my case is being resumed and my file is moving fast?

  6. I used to be on a TN before so please please and please simply visit Canada on your TN then come back to file and AOS once you know u can devote at least 3 months of your time to being within the United States.. The point is, your TN gives you a valid I-94 but on the other hand, it is at the discretion of the U.S customs/immigration officer to let you back in if they know you have a pending application without an AP.. So why take that chance? I'd advice you file for an AOS upon your return from Canada...

  7. First of, thank you guys for your help regarding the RFE( for me to send them proof of legal entry) i sent back to USCIS.. I sent them a letter via first class mail only two days ago saying that I am a Canadian citizen, can into the United States as a visitor was not issued and I-94 upon entry and to my greatest suprise the "last updated date" on my I-485 and I-765 was updated today (reflecting todays day) just after USCIS recieved my responce yesterday.

    My questions are:

    (1) The status have not changed yet even though the last updated date have changed. Does that mean anything nagative or my application is still on hold?

    (2) How about my I-130 and I-131, what possibly can i expect of thoes since nothing have been done on them?

    (3) The last updated dates on my I-130 & 1-131 are still showing 09-29-2009 does it mean they havent worked on thoes cases yet?

    (4) Anyone with a similar experience, kindly share!

    You guys are the best!

  9. Hi folks,

I am a new member to this forum and a Canadian Citizen. I came in to visit a friend and in the process, met my wife. I am now applying for my AOS and do not know what to put on my I-485 where it says : in what last status did you enter?: Should i put in VISITOR or TOURIST?.......As Canadians we do not require a visa to come in so is there anyone out there that has been in my position? what is the right word/term to use...

    Thanks you all.
