  1. Thanks everyone we've been been talking with Yahoo voip and she is doing great with english!!! She has been studying english and I am confident she will do great at the interview. We've also been going over possible questions and going over how everyone in my family fits in. I have one of those average american families with half siblings as well as step siblings.

Has anyone compiled a list of possible interview questions? I've seen many posts with almost duplicate questions but every once in a while I find a post that has a question I havent come across.

    Thanks again.

  2. I feel your anxiety - being a typical caveman, my home decorating scheme works for a guy who's been single for quite a while. When I ask questions about what color Svetla would like the bedroom to be so I can get the painting done, she insists that I not do anything until she arrives. The same thing goes for curtains, carpets and the garden - what a woman! In the interest of full disclosure I also informed here that the place had not been updated in some 15 years so there is a lot to keep her busy, if she wants.

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for the embassy in Moscow to acknowledge receipt of the documents from the NVC. Stupid question to follow, so appologies in advance....

Do we wait for the embassy to contact us before we complete the visa application, or.... Do we complete the visa application and send it to the embassy first.....

Of course the interview scheduling site at the embassy is down for repair....

    Any help would be appreciated.

Chi like Slim says you dont have to wait for them to send anything to start working on what you need they send a a form with a link which lands you the moscow embassy website fiance visa (http://moscow.usembassy.gov/fiancee.html like us you probably have been to this page about 1 million times already) that lists the requirements for the interview along with the links to documents.

One thing that we did was that once we had the date on when the packet was sent from the NVC to the embassy we waited ten days and then we sent a email to the embassy (consulMo@state.gov) from her email address. We had a reply in 3 days that contained the interview date but that probably also depends on the work load of packets coming into the embassy.

Here is the contents of the email we sent.

    SUBJECT: K-1 Package

    Dear Embassy Official,

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I have a inquiry

concerning the status of my K-1 visa case. I would like to verify that

the embassy has received the packet and what steps should be taken at

this time. According to the National Visa Center the package was shipped

    on 1/21/2010.

Here is our USCIS receipt number and our case number:

    Receipt Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Case Number: xxxxxxxxxxxx

    Petitioner: xxxxxxxxxxx

    Beneficiary: xxxxxxxxxxx

    Thank you for you time.

  3. My fiance and I have almost finished going through the K1 visa process which has taken us almost a year. I am from the UK, he is from NJ, US. He works for a large pet retailer, Petco, and recently had a new general manager take over who has treated the whole team, but particuarly him, very badly. Right from the start she has deliberately changed his quantity of hours and schedule at the last minute for no reason, (which she knows doesn't suit him), she once refused to answer her phone to him in an emergency (he was the manger on duty in the store), she reprimands him in front of customers for not carrying out certain tasks that he has never been trained to do, she belittles other staff, she refuses to acknowledge him for work that he's done well, she also refuses to pass on compliments of good work from customers to higher up in the company and generally just makes life extremely difficult for him. He also recently saw her acting suspiciously around the safe one evening recently and when he queried why it wasn't balanced, she looked nervous and he saw her throw in money from her own pocket to make up the balance...

Anyway, he is so miserable there and hates his job so much he is about ready to walk out. He has been looking for another job for weeks already. He also fought very hard to get a letter for K1 to say that they pay him so much salary and so many hours and they have totally gone back on that. Now they just give him minimal hours and obviously not the same salary.

So in preparation for our new life together, it was always planned between us that he would come over to the UK and fly back with me in May when I emmigrate, to help me move and assist me transport my labrador dog over to the US. I am so grateful that he is coming over to help me as I really couldn't do it without him.

At this time, despite working for the company for a year, he is entitled to only 4 paid days off. These are for him to take before his 1 year of service runs out (which is by June 12th). We are then planning to get married during the last week of June, which he has also requested a week of paid time off for - as he will be entitled to 18 paid time off days by then. By the way, he has not taken any time off since he started working for the company last June.

Today he has been told by the manager that she is not prepared to authorise the first set of 4 days off at the end of May, and that he cannot have time off to come to england and must stay in work. She said she will authorise our time off to get married but not the time needed to emmigrate together. She has not given a reason and won't when she is asked repeatedly.

What can my fiance do? His payslip clearly says that he is entitled to this paid time off, but regardless of that, he should be entitled to take it unpaid if necessary in these circumstances. Does anyone have any suggestions? Can he complain to HR? Is this unfair treatment?

    Many thanks for your help!

I would agree with those who recommend talking to her manager about the time off. I would also bring up about incident about the safe and money. But be aware that there could be some retaliation on the part of his manager. Some states are no cause states while others arent so she could fire him for no cause depends on state and company policy.

Does Petco have a company Human Resource department?

Here are some links for labor laws

    US

This is a long shot but you might want to check into FMLA on the US department of labor site but Im not sure whether it will cover this. It does cover adoptions and family sickness but who knows.

Also, if she is signaling just him out with unfair treatment there may be a violation of EEOC laws and you can find information here. EEOC violations are usually taken pretty seriously by companies.

  4. I need your advice for the interview. Yulia and I communicate twice a day via messenger or icq. I think she reads and write near perfect english but she feels uncomfortable speaking english. I visited her twice and the first time she spoke really well with the help of a dictionary. On my second visit she hardly used the dictionary at all. We are really concerned that this might cause a problem if she doesnt understand a question from the CO or if she speaks the answer incorrectly. Is it unheard of if she asks to have the inteview in Russian?

    Thanks

  5. They can. They probably won't. I know lots of Russian (Moscow) couples that have met only once and been successful. Your chances are as good as you make them. Provide plenty of evidence of relationship and they are 100%.

Who is the USC? The employment situation of the foreign fiancee will not matter in the process. The US citizen needs to show he has a means to support his fiancee at the time of the interview. Moscow accepts co-sponsors.

I was just thinking the same thing if there is a chance that the US citizen could not have a job then it might be a good idea to start preparing for a cosponser. Here is a thread that has links to the poverty guidelines for the affidavit of support I134. There are other threads on the cosponser process.

  6. Yeah, there's really no need to call the NVC. But since I can't help it, I DID! LOL!

They told me they shipped my package today. Fortunately, there's only 1 shipped package going to Manila that left the NVC facility today (based on the DHL website) so i'm pretty confident that's mine... regardless, DHL.com will be my favorite website (after VJ, of course) until that package arrives in Manila! LOL!

Yeah we waited about 5 days after the estimated time of arrival to call the NVC just to get the MOS case number (moscow embassy) and it was good that we did they didnt have Yulia's email address so we provided that to them. Once we had the case number we waited another 7 days and emailed the embassy and they replied back with the interview date.

  7. Thank you :) We are, most certainly, hope for this too. I already started to look in the list of documents and need to gather for Moscow interview. Good thing is, I got my W-2 on Friday, so tax declaration is not a stopper anymore. :)

You probably already have this link to the moscow interview requirements. We looked at all the documents when I was in Kursk over the holidays just to make sure there weren't any surprises. The Moscow online interview list is offline stating they are having problems with no ETA on when it will be fixed but we will keep checking it.

I waited about a week before calling the NVC and once I got through we got our MOS number and they also asked for Yulia's email address. I think the embassy prefers to communicates via email so you might want to have Sveta's available to give out when you call.

I've started filling out the I-134 but I'm not sure if I need to wait on gathering some documents like paystubs until im closer to the interview date. Or even getting the I-134 notorized so it's closer to the interview date. Just not sure if they will frown upon having documents dated to far ahead of the interview. I took some documents to her already like my previous year tax returns and w2's but i havent received 2009 yet so i havent completed my 2009 taxes yet.

  8. My schedule turns out to be completely crazy. Coming weekend I'm driving to Minneapolis to get my new Russian international passport (that is the easiest way for Russian-born person to get to Russia, far easier than go there using my US passport, don't ask me why :)). Next week, Monday through Wednesday, my job sends me to Rockford, IL to go through training for new project I'm in. Finally, Thursday, 24th, I'm flying to Russia, from Chicago, to spend holidays with my fiancée. I still can't quite believe it. Decision was made and implemented so fast, immediately after I found out that my passport is ready for pick up. To top it all, my fiancée lives in my native city, which I didn't visit for good 11 years... My friends are going to tear me apart... My hope is that I would not offend any of them by the fact that I would spend majority of my time with my fiancée and her son. At any rate... With such kind of schedule, all time I have left to prepare for my journey are those 4 evenings after-job-tired-time, during this week, Monday through Thursday... That is insanely small amount of time, taking in account how many gifts I should buy... Especially this one for my fiancée 11 years old son. Despite all of this, I'm happy. Pure happy. Even so, I worry about gifts, passport, time, meeting with my childhood after so many years, I'm incredibly happy that I'm going I will have a chance to kiss my love in just 10 days. Wish me luck on this journey, everybody.

Good luck!!! Enjoy your time together I also will be travelling on the 29th to Kursk to see my love. :)

  9. This has probably been asked before but I searched and couldnt find it. I will be submitting the I129f soon. For the proof of the visitation, does any receipts (hotel, atm, restaurant) need to be translated to english from russian in my case? I also has some boarding passes/tickets from travel from Mowcow to her town and the titles are in english but the responses are in Russian. Am I over analyzing this?

    Thanks
