  1. Hi, I am a Canadian Citizen that applied for adjustment of status through marriage to a US citizen. Our interview was on May 27th and it went so smooth. The interviewer only reviewed the I-485 and asked me all the times I have visited the United States. I was charged when I was a juvenile and I had a DUI that was dismissed but that had no affect on our interview. I just wanted to say DO NOT listen to everything people say on here alot of people have very good advice and some have terrible (ESCPECIALLY the K1 people). I applied for a K1 visa when I came here to visit my boyfriend at the time but I found out that I could withdraw the petition and get married and apply for AOS, well alot of people on here said I would get denied and what I was doing is fraud and since I have a juvenile record they said I should return to Canada and do it the "right" way. So all in all just don't listen to everything people say. Good luck to everyone :D

  2. Hi, I am a Canadian citizen that got married to an US citizen we had our adjustment of status interview a few weeks ago and we were approved :D My questions are: do I have to give up my Canadian drivers license? Do I just have to go to the passport office in Ontario to change my maiden name to my married last name? Do you have any other suugestions?? I'm going back home to Canada in July so that will be the time for me to change everything. Thanks

  3. Hi, I have my marriage based AOS interview on May 25th. I just have a question re: evidence bonafide marriage.

When I sent in my package I included: Joint bank account, joint credit cards, joint phone family plan, joint electric bill, Health and dental plan, Retirement savings plan showing me as the beneficiary, joint gym membership, veterinary bill in both our names, 2 affadivits from spouse's parents and my parents, letters & envelopes addressed to our house with both our names and photos from our wedding with both families and friends.

    1) Do you think this is enough evidence? 2) Since I sent this in with my petition should I just bring the originals and more recent statements?

I am bringing 3 albums full of pictures from the wedding and prior to.

  4. First of all there is no visa waiver for Canadians. I did nothing illegal I came here to visit my boyfriend at the time and attend a wedding during this time he asked me to marry him and I was misinformed and told to apply for a fiancee visa while I was in the United States which is incorrect. I spoke to a very good immigration lawyer here and was told I can get married and apply for AOS. I had NO intention of staying in the US.

Please I'm looking for some advise from people that are in the same situation. Thank you

  5. I came to the US in the beginning of October and my boyfriend at the time proposed to me and we decided to get married on this visit.

I had no intention of staying here I actually filled for a K1 visa while I was here in the US so I thought I was going to have to return to Canada for an interview, but then I spoke to a immigration lawyer here and he suggested me to get married and apply for adjustment of status. So I cancelled the petition right away and we ended up getting married 2 months ago :)

  6. Hi I am just trying to find some Canadians that are filing for Adjustent of Status through immediate relative.

I am currently in the US and got married 2 months ago and I sent my package on March 1st. I'm just looking for some people that are in the same situation as me or someone that has already went through this.

I tried to look up some info through the search engine but it just keeps showing people that are applying for AOS from a K-1 or CR-1 visa.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I currently read the adjustent of status forum but I'm looking for canadians.

  7. I'm getting my packaging ready for adjustment of status but for the Bona Fide Marriage I just received a credit card in the mail which my husband added me to his account. I was going to photocopy his card and my card on the same page but my colour ink cartridge ran out does it matter if its in black and white?? and when I go to the interview we'll have the cards with us. We have received a statement yet that will be coming at the end of March that why I'm photocoping the cards. Thanks

  8. If you apply for adjustment of Status (permanent resident) you cannot leave the US.

Options: A) While in Canada apply for K1 visa (fiancee visa) then return to the U.S. when approved and get married within 90 days then applying for adjustment of status.

    B) Since your in the US get married and apply for Adjustment of Status but while the petition is pending you cannot leave the U.S.

    C) Get married then return to Canada and husband will need to file for Spousal visa (CR-1)- then return to the U.S. after petition is approved then apply for Adjustment of Status.

  9. I didn't know they needed to be sealed or notarised so there not, I haven't received the ones from my parents and sister they should be arriving soon should I not open them. I know there signed with name, address, telephone #, and birthday if that makes a difference.

My husband and I do have a plan together my name just got added onto the account and he just received a statement but it doesn't show my name on it yet until the next bill. It does show both our numbers.

Also I have tons of pictures I'll put some of those into as well, do you think I should put my previous boarding passes? also letters to eachother?

    Thank you

  10. My husband and I are applying for AOS based on immediate relative. I am the Canadian citizen and he is a USC. My question is I am filing for AOS soon but for the I-130 my evidence is: one joint bank account, joint gym membership, joint benefits and 401K also 3 affidavits from my parents, his parents and my sister and electricity bill in both our names and wedding photos. Do you think that enough for the application? I'm sure we'll have more for the interview. Thanks
