  1. Hi...Good Luck with your NCLEX Prep. I studied at least 6hrs a day five days a week for 5 weeks before i took my exam. I also took a course online from http://learningext.com/pages/home and that really helped me pass. The course is owned by the writers of the NCLEX so it really helps you know what to expect on the exam. I took the 5wk course which cost $70...trust me, it's worth it. There are a lot of filipino nurses also on that website, so even if you don't take the course just join the community and they maybe able to give you some advice. Good luck again!

Thanks soo much for your reply... I'm almost done reading The RN course book of Kaplan... Hopefully next week I can start the 5 weeks course that you said... I need your prayer too... Right now I have mixed emotions.... Once again thanks and God bless to your career.

  2. Hi all,

I was just wondering about changing names and also my work status on SSN. Currently, it's still under my maiden name and "Work authorization only with DHS approval". My AOS under K-1 has been transferred to CSC. My EAD has been approved and the EAD production has been ordered. So I was wondering when my EAD comes in, would the EAD document be sufficient enough for me to change my name to my married name on SSN? Or do I have to wait for my green card??

    Thank you!

    Cheers

    LC

We were told you should fill out your aos with the name you want. The EAD should be sufficient for SS restriction to be lifted. Not positive about the name change portion sadly.

  3. I went to Hazel's interview, and it was overkill. Honestly do not worry about a denial. So long as you meet poverty requirements. The interview is a formality. Just be sure she has a copy of all paperwork submitted, and all new paperwork, and fees completed.

  4. Money and Filipinos can be a little difficult. A good portion of the people there live hand to mouth literally. The notion of saving money for a rainy day is something most have never considered..... A little heads up on the sending money back home. Persons abroad are viewed as heroes because they support everyone back home. Many times they are expected to. It can be a difficult situation discuss with your spouse.

  5. Yes. DOS shares data with the Consular Computer System. It may be off a day, depending on where it is and the protocols for updating (batch vs real time).

Call the DOS Hotline, Get a Human and inquire about case status.

There is a one days difference in the information within the Manila embassy itself....

  6. The place is a ghost town by noon. The actual interview itself is maybe 10 minutes. If she is late getting back talking to you don't worry. It is not bad news. Just no phone, and maybe trying to find a cafe or such...

If she has the pink slip. She fills out the air21 delivery form. Then she is free to go home, and wait. No reason to wait in Manila.

  7. Hazel, and I went through this on the 4th of January. Do not kill yourself over preparing. Have copies of all the documents submitted already, and those asked for in the letter. If your fiancée is there at-least for us a delivery would have been as quick if not quicker. Not sure of the reason. Just seems to be the way it is.

Last but not least. If minimum requirements are met, and have all the paperwork asked for with fees paid. You will have your visa. There is 0 reason for concern with the Manila Embassy with denials.

  8. Just because you, the U.S. citizen, were present during the interview and personally asked the CO to pick up the visa and he or she assented, it wouldn't really mean you'd get it faster. There's no preferential treatment really.

I was alone in the interview and was authorized to pick up my visa. However, they didn't give any specific date and just told me they'd call once it's ready for release. They did call but it took a few days.

    FAE :luv:

If the sponsor takes the time, and expense to come for an interview. Then want to fly back together. One would believe that would not put them further back on the list than those with normal air21.......... We asked for an approximate time line. We were given 3 days assuming there were no computer breakdowns. After 4 it had not begun processing. if she had told us not this week or a slim chance. Then different decisions would have been made. At this point have spent so many vacation days might as well use what is left so Hazel does not have to fly back alone....

It is not preferential treatment. it is common decency..... Pickups because sponsor is there should not take longer than ones where they did not bother to show.......

  9. Just lucky I guess but she had her's in two days. I don't think they will deliver except to the addressee so I am warning people not to think it will always be a week or longer and they are not home when it comes. Not sure why you would want pick up if that means you have to go back to the embassy.

Because I went to Manila for hazel's interview. Was hoping to fly out yesterday................

  10. Wife had interview on the 7th and the Air 21 package was delivered 10am on the 9th Manila time. Wow that was fast!!!

So expect it quickly if you get approval at your interview in Manila.

No do not expect quick delivery. We had our interview the 4th. Scheduled for pickup even. We are still in Manila waiting....
