  1. Do you think I need a joint sponsor?

I do not have tax returns for the last 3 years since I was a student and then making less than $9,000/yr teaching abroad. from June 2009-June 2010 I was unemployed. I just got a full time job 2 months ago. My annual salary is $41,600. My household is 3, so I am above the 125% min.

Do I need a joint sponsor?

The problem is that my mother who was going to be my joint sponsor was just laid off this month. For the past 3 yrs she had an annual income of $110,000 or more. I have her 3 tax transcripts from the last 3 yrs. She does have a severance agreement until April 2011 of 100% of her income (120k).

If I need a joint sponsor, can I use her?

  2. The instructions state that my fiance needs to bring Proof of U.S. Citizenship for petitioner Birth certificate or passport.

Can this be a copy of my birth certificate? Or does it have to be the original?

If it's the original will I get it back? I sure as heck am not sending my real passport along with the other papers to my fiance. That makes me uncomfortable. I already lost one passport and they are expensive to replace.

  3. my fiance is in ciudad juarez now and was interviewed on last thursday 12/10/09. He was told by the consular officer that he was approved and was given a sheet of paper and told to take it to the DHL. He did and was told it would be a few days. Is he really approved? he has been calling DHL and the visa has not arrived. why is it taking so long or is the process not finished would he have to go back? help!!! im worried

Is it a K-1 visa? My SO interviewed on a Thursday as well and didn't receive the visa until the following Monday. If the CO told you, you were approved then you have nothing to worry about. Also, they would have not sent you to DHL if you were not approved. Just hang in there I know the waiting sucks.

Did your fiance wait in juarez to pick it up personally or can the fiance return to the city where he lives to have it delivered there?

  4. They just built a brand new consulate in Juarez last year so I doubt they plan on moving anytime soon. But.....Here is a list of the US consulates in Mexico (I think they should process the K1/3s in any US consulate; not just in Juarez):

    Consulate General Ciudad Juarez

    Consulate General Guadalajara

    Consulate Hermosillo

    Consulate Matamoros

    Consulate Merida

    Consulate General Monterrey

    Consulate Nogales

    Consulate Nuevo Laredo

    Consulate General Tijuana

I do believe it's just Juarez. My fiance called the consulate in DF and was told that they didn't know anything about the K1 visa because only Juarez processes those types of visa. Which is annoying and hence the cause of this discussion.

  5. I made this poll because I feel that there should be a way to petition for an alternate immigrant visa office, if not a complete removal of the immigrant visa office from Ciudad Juarez. I suppose it is convenient for USCs who drive there, but I feel it is completely wrong for the government to force us to use that office when it is one of the most dangerous cities in the world according to CNN reports.

No.2 according to Real Clear World: http://www.realclearworld.com/lists/most_d...dad_juarez.html

I would like to set up a petition from USCs that would have to go through Ciudad Juarez to have another alternative. I haven't quite figured out how...online? on paper?

I think it should be in a location more convenient for a majority of Mexicans. It's so far from central/southern Mexico.

I don't understand why it's that office that can only do fiance visas. Or why they would choose that particular location for K1 visas. Why not Mexico City too?

  6. Hi all,

I'm new around here, just figuring out all this visa stuff. I just sent in the I-129F. My fiance is Mexican, we met almost 2 years ago when I was teaching english in Mexico. In July we had a baby girl. (Unfortunately, since I had the baby in the U.S. he wasn't able to be at her birth. He has mostly just seen her on webcam. We did go visit him in Mexico for a month, which was nice.) I'm hoping that I don't screw any of this up and delay what seems like an already long process. Everything is confusing to me, and in my opinion, gov websites aren't always the easiest to understand.

Anyway, I'm looking at all the documents he will need when he goes to the interview in Juarez. Does he need a police certificate? Im reading here (http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html#Vaccination) that he does. Then on the Juarez website the document cdj-400 (instructions for interview) doesn't ask for a police certificate.

So does he need one? And at what level? He told me he can get a city, state or federal certificate.

  7. Unless you can stop the petition from getting to USCIS in the first place, you're better off waiting for them to tell you to send a new check if they require it. You have to remember that something like 60,000 people apply for a fiance visa each year, not to mention the numerous other visas. The chances of your new check getting to the right place are pretty slim.

Sorry (F) Hope it goes quickly for you!

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. :( I can't believe I did that! I looked at everything 5 times, but completely forgot to make sure the check was correct. I knew I was missing something

Would they send a RFE (i know a check is not evidence) or something like that...or would they just send back my whole package??

  8. For the I-134 I will be using my mother as a joint sponsor. I am unemployed and looking for work. I haven't filed a tax return since 2006, b/c the jobs I have had since then (I was teaching in Mexico) have not paid enough that I needed to file. I need my mother to be a joint sponsor because I have very little money in the bank (I'm only recently graduated from university) and my last jobs have produced very little income. (Actually I have probably never had a job that produced enough income to file returns, but I did file for a few years in college.)

So my thinking is that the only person who will send in tax returns is my mother, because she is the one who needs to prove her income. (i'm not proving anything because I don't have income.) Am I making any sense and is my thinking correct? (I.e. that ONLY she includes her tax returns.)

Do I even need to fill out a I-134 or can just my mother fill one out...or does it need to be both of us?

Yes I know what needs to be sent in general, what I am asking about is my specific situation, which is outlined above. Does anybody have an opinion about that?? I'm quite confused.

  10. Hi, I'm about to file the I-129F and I'm wondering if I have used enough information to prove that we have a relationship. I worked in Mexico for 2 years and met my fiance a 1.5 years ago. In Nov 2008 I got pregnant and just had our baby in July in the U.S.

In the relationship letter I explained how we met, where I was working, when I became pregnant, etc. So for the proof of relationship I have included

-The baby's birth certificate (which doesnt have his name but I have included paternity papers that show I want to put his name on the birth certificate. he obviously wasn't able to attend her birth in the U.S. I have explained all of this on a note on the birth certificate.)

-Proof of my employment in mexico and 1 bill from the house where I lived (I included this to show that the story I told in the letter was correct.)

-1 hotel receipt & bus ticket from when I visited him (I was working 4 hrs away from him, so I would visit him on the weekends.)

-2 phone bills showing I have been talking to my fiance while here in the U.S.

-plane ticket from Oct. when I brought the baby to my fiance so he could see her

-3 photos, 2 of just us in Mexico, and 1 of us with the baby

    Isn't that enough?

  11. Hi,

I'm petitioning for a K1 visa for my Mexican fiance. I have read that normally the fiance takes the I-134 form to the interview at the embassy overseas. However, I have also read that I can also submit the I-134 form with the I-129F form. Should I do this? I am currently unemployed and my mother will be sponsoring my fiance. I am concerned that my petition will be denied because they will see that I am unemployed. So, should I submit the I-134 (filled out by my mother) with the I-129f? (And then my fiance would also take the form to the consulate in Mexico.)

    thanks
