  1. Lying on a government form is illegal. No one here should be recommending it I believe it is against TOS.

I am not advising anyone to lie. Every country has it's realities and I just explained the Senegalese system compared to the US. I said what is true and what I would do.

    Good luck!!!!

the form does not allow any wiggle room, further interpretation, or a wild guess by anyone filling out the form.

    you suggested in your post

Senegal is not like the USA, this wil not show from anywhere, there is no communication between the embassy and the court or recird system. do not put that on the DS230, they won't know, there is no way they can.

"Have you ever been charged, arrested or convicted of any offense or crime?"

your own bolded words advocate the op commit a lie by omission. please cease with this type of advice.

This is not about me or you referring to my opinion as "Bolded words", I do not advocate lies, nor do I complete your forms. I said what I would do. just say what you think you would do and stop being hypocritical. I know enough about Senegal to provide a clear answer to WHAT I WOULD DO for myself or for my relative in this situation.

Just answer "Quenny" question. What would you do? just answer the question and do not refer to me as I already gave my answer. help us out, answer the question.

Thanks for your kindness. Peace & Love.

  3. I was Born and raised in senegal. The fingerprints they take at the embassy will only pull prior records the applicant had with the embassy, for example prior visas application and if any info recorded from those apps. Your husband is right, it can't and won't show, I am 100000% positive.

    Hope this helps.

Do not put that on the DS230, they won't know, there is no way they can.. in the US USCIS can pull and find your record at any date and time, In africa the embassy sees only what you give them, So do not give them a reason to deny your petition.

  5. Hi VJ family,

let me start by saying how grateful I am to have this site to aid in the visa journey. I have a question/concern that maybe you can help me with. My hubby was arrested back in Dec 08 in Senegal. According to him he bought some stolen parts from someone. He did not know the merchandise was stolen. He was arrested along with the person he bought the merchandise from. He was put in jail for about 10 days. According to him the Court said he should not have bought the merchandise. Also he said that the arrest is not showing on his police certificate becasue it was not a formal arrest/conviction. I'm concerned that when he is fingerprinted at his interview that this will show up. So I guess my question is

    1. should this be listed on the DS230

    2. what documents would he need if this does not show up on his police cert

    thanks for your help

  6. It's l'extrait de naissance. They want the long form. At least they wanted this for the K-1. I'm assuming that the staple documents that you need (birth certificate, police certificate, etc) are the same. Good luck!

    Ataya_Girl,

Thank you for the information, I'm requesting the Birth certificates "long form" or "Extrait de naissance" and will submit them if NVC asks.

I hope we all get approved (visa in hand) soon.

  7. In Senegal, there is two kind of birth certificate, please find below there original respective names (In french of course):

1- "Extrait de Naissance" (English: Extract from registry of birth) ---->> (Long form)

    Then we have,

2-"Bulletin de naissance" (English: Bulletin de naissance) ----->> (Short paragraph)

They both list the Person's first & last name, Date, time and place of birth, and full name of mom and Dad.

My question is which one of these should we send to the NVC. I have always sent the "Bulletin de naissance" (Birth Certificate) to the USCIS and I sent the same forms on my I-130, now I am woriied asking myself if I should have sent the Extract from registry of birth (Extrait de naissance) to the NVC. your advise is highly needed.

    Thank you all in advance.

Sorry I haven't updated my signature.
