    2. Immediately following divorce OR in the 90 days before your card expires. Whichever comes first. You got your card in May of 2011 so you need to file ROC before May 2014.

    3. In your cover letter you state that you are requesting a waiver of the joint filing requirement. Read the form instructions which talk about what you need to include. Basically the same as if you were still married. Proof of co-mingling, photos etc.

    Thank you so much guys

  2. Hi Guy's,

My American wife and i, are getting divorced after 20 months, i am English on a marriage based Green Card.

I know i have to file to have the conditions removed on my own, but i have a few questions i am unsure of.

1- What forms do i have to file

2- How long do i have to file them when my divorce comes through.

3- What sort of paperwork do i need to include because it has not been 2 years of marriage

Any other help would be fantastic, as i am a bit unsure of how it all works.

Than You So Much In Advance

  3. If you live anywhere near Joliet, IL (southwest suburbs of Chicago), I would recommend Physician's Immediate care on Houbalt Road. My husband had his I-693 vaccination transcription done here. It was $25 at the time, but I believe it's $45 now. They can also get you up-to-date on any vaccines you're missing. It turned out my husband needed one more round of MMR, and they gave him the shot then and there ($102.50 for the shot). Call (815) 823-8800. The civil surgeon's name is Jen.

Here's a good thread, but I don't know if any other Chicago-are civil surgeons are in here:

Thanks guy's for all your answers......I got it done at Physician's Immediate Care on Cicero for $25, all my vaccinations were up to date, as i had them all done before i flew out.

    Cheers

  4. As long as you use the visa by the expiry date, there are no worries, you can use it on the first or last date. Once in the USA, the visa is useless, and a new countdown clock begins, as you will have 90 days to get married.

    Cheers Mate....

Do you think they wil ask akward questions about why it has took so long to use my visa, and should i take proof of operation and hospital letters etc...

    Thanks again

  5. Hi Guys

Posted something similar before. Got my K-1 Visa in July, was supposed to fly September, but had to have a knee op, which went wrong, since then i have been waiting for a new date for another op. Just got my date for 9th Dec which means i wont be able to fly untill Dec 29th 2010, my Visa expires on Jan 7th 2011. Is the time to fly too near the end of my visa expirey date and would affect my AOS application later on or anything else down the line.Do you need to be in the country a certain amount of time before the visa expires.

My other option being to postpone the op untill May/June 2011 when i will be coming home for a family wedding.

This has been a nightmare after my visa journey went so smooth.

    Thanks guys

  6. No. As long as your visa is valid until your scheduled flight (if received in July '10, it should really be valid until Dec '10), you will be just fine. A lot of people use their visa much after they've received it - besides, if worse came to worst, you could always extend the visa.

As for the AOS/I-94 - As long as you get married within 90 days of your arrival to the U.S. there's no need to worry. Customs will stamp your passport with the exact date of expiration of your I-94. They told me about three time 'Don't forget - you have 90 days!'

    All the best!

    Cheers For That

  7. Hi Guy's,

I got my K1- Visa approval from the London Embassy in July. I was suppost to be flying on August 17th and getting married on the 26th.

Unfortunately ihad to have a knee operation which subsequently went wrong, so i have to go back in hospital again. Consequently i now wont be flying over to the state's untill end of Oct. This wont cause any problems or mean me being over the dateline's for the I-94 or AOS or ultimately cause me any problems further down the line will it.

    Cheers Warren

  8. Hi All

Got my K-1 Visa Approved July 7th In London. Put on the form was flying out on the 12th August and getting married on the 19th August. Since then i have to have a knee operation which i'm still waiting for, so probably wont be flying out untill at least early October. This wont cause a problem now or when i apply for AOS or anything else down the line will it.

    Cheers

  9. Yep, I can confirm with Angel here - apply after a minimum of 14 days and a maximum of 72 days. I applied about 15 days after entering the US and even then, SSA couldn't verify I was on the system. I had to wait a further 4 weeks before I got my SSN. My advice is, if the SSA office say you aren't on the system, don't withdraw the application and wait the 4 weeks they state it takes to verify you and issue you a SSN.

    Cheers Mate...

  10. You can do it before you are married - I have just done it and I am not married yet. However you need to wait 15 days after arrival into the US so your are in the system.

My best advice is to check the guides as there is one dedicated to getting an SSN.

Cheers for your quick reply's guy's

  12. Hi,

I am a Canadian citizen and my American fiance is about the file form I-129F. Once we have filed this form, am I able to enter the United States to visit my fiance? We have a 2 weeks trip to California planned. When I called the US Customs and Border Protection Office I received mixed information. The first lady I talked to said it was extremely difficult and if I am denied access to the United States then I may not be able to apply for a K1 visa. When I called and spoke with the customs officers at the bridge and tunnel in Detroit, they both said it wouldn't be a problem as long as I can provide sufficient proof that I have ties in Canada. I am currently a Master's student in Canada so it would be no problem for me to provide proof of enrollment at the University. Has anyone else had experience crossing the border while your K1 visa is pending?

    Hi There,

I was halfway through my K-1 Visa when i went to the States to see my fiancee in Chicago. i took all sorts of ties to the UK after being advised on here to do so. There were no problems at all they didn't ask anything different than normal, only said " Have a great vacation" and that was it.
