Woooo hooooo I got my US citizenship on 03/19/2015 !!
Dear Members, I thank you all and those who were around during my K1 processing in 2009 for the wonderful support you gave me during the process. I could always turn to the forum with queries. Not only did I get accurate information there is also psychological support from the members of this forum especially during 2009 when I was trying for the K1 and it seemed a daunting task ......
I also thank and appreciate the admins and other active members of this forum who make sure all questions are replied and replied accurately. I know it takes time and effort.
Perhaps you will still see me around as I am going to start the citizenship procedure for my son.......

I received the date for oath ceremony. It is set for March 19, 2015

Checking with you all. After passing the civics test on my way out the USCIS gentleman handed over an envelope with a form to apply for passport.
I am assuming I give in the applicaiton for passport after the oath ceremony and getting the naturalizaiton certificate. Am I right?
Thank you!

Thank you for the cautionary note Jimmy. How much time from now to the oath ceremony?

Dear all,
I had my interview less than an hour ago and approved !! :-) It was easy like everyone says but I feel the stress when a test is involved !! So read the questions and answers over and over agian :-) After going in, I was asked to take oath, the gentleman verified information, asked questions, one line reading and one line writing and after that I answered the first 6 questions right. Given a congratulations sheet and told I will be called for the oath.
One tip:
When he asked if I have any questions, I asked if I need to inform anyone if I travel international before the oath ceremony. The answer is "no". Just travel on the existing passport and be back before the oath ceremony.
All the best everyone.

Thank you sweet babe and kash

I understand the reading, writing and speaking part uscis explains in the book.
I am sorry but I need more clarity on the 10 out of the 100 questions they ask,
1. is that oral?
2. Question number 8 has 3 answers in the book. They all mean the same. Are they just stating different ways of answering the question? We just say one of those answers?
-
About civics test during interview, does the uscis ask questions just as they are given in the book or can they change its form?
Eg:
What is one right or freedom from first amendment
Do they also ask it as
Is press the one right of freedom from first amendment
Please let me know. Thank you

I did not update my status for some time. Sorry about that. Here it is
Notice for receipt of application 12/3/14
Yellow letter: 12/16/14
Biometrics: on 1/9/15
Interview: 3/3/2015
Also FYI: After I received the yellow letter I realized I did not check a couple of boxes (important questions I would say relating to marriage) in the initial application due to overlook. Did not affect negatively, thank goodness!

-

Thanks! Just realized and was modifying :-) Rest is okay?
-
Applying for my US Citizenship. Documents to send
Completed N-400 form (printed with bottom bar code, signed and dated)
Cheque for $680
2 passport size photo's
Copy of green card, front and back
Please let me know if I miss anything or should double check on anything

Messybrownhair and Gen, Thank you so much for pointing me to the evidence documents checklist. I was only reading the N-400 instructions documents where they listed only two evidence documents. Kind of misleading or maybe I missed something? I will go to the website again and do a lot of ground work!
-
You read other posts? Well, did you also read the official instructions from the USCIS?
In the event that you didn't, I've posted the link here: http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/n-400instr.pdf
Reading it will comprehensively answer your question.
I meant USCIS instructions asks for only greencard copy and photographs.
Posts from other's in the forum has a longer list of evidence being submitted not asked for by USCIS. Wonder if I really should submit evidence not asked by USCIS????

I am going to apply for my citizenship during April 2014
I was reading the instructions and have a question about submitting evidence
The evidence asked by USCIS is
1. Copy of my permanent residence card
2. Photographs
I have read other posts where they submitted other evidence like tax returns etc. May I have more information about the evidence that needs to be submitted along with N-400 form? Thanks

Thank you Darth Vader and Paciencia. Without your inputs I would have started my paper work on wrong foot :-)
btw, the pdf lets you enter info online. So convenient!
-
Thank you for replies about printing.
What do you mean by barcode at the bottom of every page? I printed out the pages from USCIS website and I only see the name of the document and page number for footer. Am I missing anything?
-
I am preparing to apply for US citizenship. My question
I checked USCIS website and the applicaiton is 21 pages. Which printing is preferable? Both sides of the paper or one side?
Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi
I came to US on fiancee visa. My son came along too. Both of us got the GC with conditions and now the conditions have been removed.
As spouse of US citizen, I am allowed to begin applying for citizenship 3 yrs - 90 days after receiving the first GC.
When can my son apply for citizenship? He is now 19+ years old. He was 16+ years old when he received his first GC along with mine.
Thanks!

Tip:
The passport officials come to the oath ceremony to take passport applications from those who have taken oath.
As it turned out, in my county it is easier to apply for passport at oath location than otherwise. Take along a copy of your id, filled in passport application form, 1 photo
